Cheap(ish) basses

A guitarist friend of mine recently pointed out that Italia guitars were designed by Trevor Wilkinson, and a websearch came up with this interview - seems he has a lot to do with the Vintage V4, and it looks like that is a good sign.

We know a really good Swedish band, who come over once a year to do a couple local gigs, the bass player normally
use's a US Fender Precision, but on the last trip he had a Vintage Precision, and guess what?

It sounded just like a Precision! :tatice_03:

I had one for a bit and it'll do you a great P-bass sound. It felt well-made and was comfortable to play - mine was a sunburst with a rosewood fingerboard. For under £100, it's a great bass.

Here's a quick demo I recorded of mine before I sold it - it was strung with a set of Fender flatwounds. I used a Sansamp VT Bass set flat for recording purposes with no other effects. I played with the tone fully open first and then fully closed.

Ignore my playing ;)

We sold absolutely s%#@loads of Vintage gear in the shop I used to work in, because it's good quality gear for not much money, especially the Advance range. I wanted a cheap fretless, and I bought a V940fl and was blown away by how good it was for the money. Ok, so the finishes aren't always perfect, but for the price you really can't complain!

Still, I bought a used Yamaha RBX270 last year for £70, and I'd take one of those over a vintage any day.
