Have a Trace/Ampeg rig in the garage but need a wife friendly front room little combo. Like the Roland Cube 20 Bass at £180 for its variety so is anything else worth considering sub 200quid? I have the 108, and it`s a nice little amp, and at 25 watts, packs quite a punch. Alternatively, the Marshall MB15 is a versatile little amp - 2 channels, gain, compression. Muzz Posted September 21, 2011 Share Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) If you don't need a ton of volume, the Roland Microcube is very versatile - several presets, half a dozen effects to play with (the Chorus is great and the T-Wah's a right lark). And a drum machine. And a tuner. And a compressor. And the obligatory MP3 in, phones out, etc. And it'll run on batteries for those Al Fresco* moments. * Possibly Kool And The Gang's bassist circa 83, possibly not. Len_derby Posted September 21, 2011 Share Posted September 21, 2011 +1 for the Roland Microcube. I use mine as a practise amp with the acoustic guitarist and conga player too. Alternatively, if you're looking for something that will be solely for personal practise it might be worth looking at one of the small gizmos that allow you to play through headphones. Vox do one. Also, the Tascam range of bass trainers will perform as a headphone amp, as well as all the other functionality. There's a lot of love for the Tascam stuff on this forum. Mudpup Posted September 21, 2011 Author Share Posted September 21, 2011 Thanks for the advice guys! Cant get to see an Ampeg so thats difficult and just didnt like the look of the Ashdown. Kind of liked the amount of toys on the Cube - the Marshall and Line 6 seemed a bit more "just play it" and i think i'll enjoy fiddling a bit more with the Cube. If you look around the for sale forums you should be able to pick one up for under £100. Excellent for recording too, if the need should arise.
