Ok so im gonna do it guys, i think im going to buy a darkglass B3k... my bank account is gonna hate me! has anyone on here got one? im debating being sensible for once and just going for a tech 21 VT bass. Im looking to add some kind of grind into my tone by adding a pedal into one of my channels of my mesa 400+ and then blend it with the clean tone.

looking for a tone similar to this

and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD23Q1jvHn8...feature=related

im hoping the b3k can deliver or should i just go for the VT bass? hmm

yep. one smug-assed owner here. ! :)

thanks for 'exotic animal petting zoo' ! they sound right up my street, investigation pending after work.

if that's the tone you're after, then 'yes' is the answer to your question.

i can't recommend this pedal highly enough, so i vote you go for it !!!!

also, consider PM'ing bassman2790, he bought one after PM'ing me, and got back to me saying it was a 'keeper'.

Fact. End of. //thread.

One of the best sounding pedals I have heard. It's in the queue after my Soundblox BEF pro.

I have a b3k. Its a fantastic overdrive pedal if you want to get to distortion like territory. For my money, the best pure OD is the BJFE Blueberry followed closely by the [sfx] Micro-RD for low to medium gain stuff. I use the B3K as a mid - high gain overdrive / mild distortion as the other two pedals kill it in the low gain department.
Seen the vids. Looks and sounds good. I'm wary of it not having a tone control. Any comments from users as to whether it's required?
i'd say no it doesn't matter. there are three distinct modes which seem to od different bandwidths. i tend to use the 'thin' one mostly, as it's more mid-based.

the other two modes are much more 'rounded', and capable of deep fuzz sounds too.

..but i also tend to preshape my eq anyway, either with the tone controls onboard or with my hartke vxl pedal.

just buy it, i really can't see anyone being disappointed with it.
