1. Fame is Musicstore's own brand hence why they're only seen there. The reason they're sold by DV247 is that Musicstore acquired DV247 in a decidedly dodgy (and borderline illegal) move when DV247 went bust a few years ago. See here for more details: http://theeccentricblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/digital-village.html?m=1
2. Ibanez Mikro. Great little bass. About 28" scale I think. Cheap to buy. But plays nicely.
3.
If Dood is talking about the Spector 8 string that they had at the recent bass show, I'd avoid. The neck profile is wrong as its just a thin C neck with 8 strings. At 1.65 inch at the nut your hand will bunch up. Lastly, the active eq I found to be lacking. Okay, it was only £400 or so, but it was still just a 4 string neck with 8 strings and more than a tad pants. I say that and I like Spectors.
I would respectfully disagree too. I'd go with the Spector for the very reason that it has a 4-string neck. The Dean and ESP use 5-string necks so your whole left hand technique has to change. I've tried the Dean and couldn't get on with it. Everything was in the wrong place. The stretches were too far. And I'd need to watch my fretting hand. Particularly if you're playing other basses (highly likely) it's just not something I could get used to. I even tried a Dean 12 string and that used a 6-string sized neck. It was ridiculous. I've not played the Spector but do want to. I've played the Hagstrom which was nice (4-string sized neck) but was short scale which I don't want. But, having a normal sized (width) neck meant it was easy to play, unlike the Dean. With regards to the electronics in the Spector, the Tonepump is a love it or hate it circuit. It doesn't work like most preamps but, once you're used to it, you can get decent sounds out of it. Otherwise it's easily replaceable!
4. Thanks Jass. I got nothing but compliments about this bass both in terms of looks and its incredible sound too.
5. This is a made-in-Italy TTE500, widely regarded as the most valve-like of all hybrid heads. It somehow manages to recreate the feel as well as the sound of a (clean) valve amp. Warm, gooey goodness! It suits a vintage sound but can also do bright and modern, not dissimilar to a Little Mark III. The built-in compressor is valve driven and is basically the circuit from the renowned Markbass Compressore pedal. But the real magic happens with the 'Colour' control which is also valve-driven. It really can give you a nice, warm, vintage vibe if that's what you're after, or turn it off for a bright, modern sound! From the website: "“Modern Vintage” may seem to be an oxymoron, but it sums up the unique new TTE 500 well. Current technology is brought together with classic tone concepts in a head that looks and sounds vintage—but features some special adaptations of the innovations that put the Markbass on the map! The classic sound comes from an old-style tube preamp, a tube compressor, a simple 3-band passive EQ section, a “Colour” filter (a tube adaptation of the famous Markbass VLE control), and an innovative Tube Technology Emulator power amp." The head is in immaculate condition. The only damage is to the left hand metal 'hoop' thing that protects the knobs. It has a scrape on it and is slightly loose (see photos). Otherwise the amp is as new in its original box. This is a SALE ONLY. I am not looking for any trades. None. Absolutely none! I promise you! It really isn't worth messaging just in case unless you want to buy it for cash! Ha ha! The price of the head is just £SOLD collected from Ruislip, North West London or can post for £10 within the UK (Highlands and Islands will be more). You're welcome to try the head out. Ruislip is close to M40/M4/M25/M1/A406/A40/A1M !!!! So getting here should be easy! I also have the dedicated Markbass padded gigbag for the TTE500 available separately (see photos). It is priced at £SOLD and can either be bought with the head or on its own. 6. From the website: "The VT Bass 500 is a 500-Watt bass amp head, with an all-analog SansAmp™ pre-amp and Class D power amp. It is formulated with the same proprietary technology as our SansAmp Character Series VT Bass DI pedal. The unique Character control sweeps through decades of some of the most distinctive bass amp tones on the planet. Drive adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, similar to when the output of a tube amp is being pushed. A Blend control allows you to blend the direct instrument signal with the SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation circuitry. The Bite switch activates a presence boost, which tightens up the sound when you are in distorted settings. It also adds definition to your notes when playing in cleaner settings." The head is absolutely as new in its original box with instructions. 7. Really good padded gigbag designed for the Ibanez Promethean head but also fits many other micro heads. Dimensions as follows:
Bag dimensions: 12"W x 10"D x 3"H Internal dimensions: 11"W x 2-1/4"H x 10-3/8"D
The bag should fit the following heads:

Ibanez Promethean
Gallien Krueger MB500/800
Gallien Krueger MB Fusion/Fusion 800
TC Electronic BH550/800
SWR Headlite
There are probably others too but please check the dimensions first. Large front pocket for cables and accessories. In excellent condition. Some stitching come away on the pad for the shoulder strap (see photos) but that's all. Priced at just £SOLD
8. I have two AK410 cabinets available. The AK cabs were developed in conjunction with Billy Sheehan specifically to give him a more similar sound to that which he had when he used Ampeg cabs. They named them 'AK' for 'Ampeg Killer' referencing the fact that, while these give you a similar sound to the traditional Ampeg tone, they sound even better! Both cabs are immaculate. If you look closely you'll find a couple of very small scratches but, as you can see, these are so small they don't even show in the photos. I have the original boxes (see photos) so can send if required (though it's not cheap to courier them!). Despite being tonally similar to Ampeg, these cabs are a LOT lighter! Sure, they're not neo and they're not a one-hand lift but they're a relatively easy carry and are amongst the lightest non-neo 4x10's available. As a bonus, they also come with removeable castors which makes transporting them so much easier. These were £500 cabs so the price is ridiculously low for professional quality equipment. I always thought a 4x10 was enough for anyone. But when you plug in the second, everything sounds better! It's always been the same, even with small cabs - 1x12's or 2x10's. Plug in a second and, even at the same volume, you get a bigger, better sound. And the same is true with two 4x10's Plus, let's not forget, the stack looks amazing! Saying that, you can buy just one if you want or I am offering a discount for buying both cabs together. This is a SALE ONLY. I am not looking for any trades. None. Absolutely none! 9. I absolutely love this bass! But it has to go... This is a Czech-made Spector Euro Rebop with Zebrano top (I say top, but it's half the body width!). Sometimes referred to as a Zebop. I think my example is the most beautiful Rebop I've ever seen though that's subjective! It also has some extremely desirable upgrades: - Aguilar OBP3 Active Preamp which three band eq and selectable mid-frequency - Aguilar DCB Passive Pickups The bass itself is immaculate. It has a lovely satin finished neck. The curvature of the body is so sexy! And the full extent of the curves don't show properly on the photos. I still have the original EMG HZ pickups if required though I think I sold the Tonepump preamp (I'll check later!). This bass absolutely nails 'the Spector sound'. It plays like a dream as you would expect given that it's a hand-made bass and has been professionally set up with brand new D'Addario NYXL strings by a very well respected local luthier. The asking price is an absolute bargain. The Rebop sells for well over a grand usually and then there's another £300 worth of Aguilar pickups and preamp! And it's immaculate! This is a SALE ONLY. I am not looking for any trades. None. Absolutely none! I promise you! It really isn't worth messaging just in case unless you want to buy it for cash! Ha ha! So the price is just £799 collected from Ruislip, North West London or can post for £15 within the UK (Highlands and Islands will be more). 10. Source Audio Gemini Chorus is amazing. It's just over your budget but you get phaser, flanger and more thrown in for free!
11. Mint condition MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. Boxed with instructions etc. Awesome pedal which does both chorus and flanging. Switchable crossover allows you to apply the effect only to the higher frequencies if desired maintaining all the low end. Bass and treble controls allow you to tailor the tone of the effect exactly how you like it. Asking just £119.99. NO TRADES!!! Sorry. Collection from Ruislip, HA4 or can post for a a fiver (in the UK).
12. A great little noise gate that can be used either with the loop so that the level is controlled by your pure bass signal and is unaffected by level changes when switching in and out effects or more simply by connecting in-line and ignoring the loop. Not much to it: when the signal passes the threshold, the sound comes through unaffected. When below the threshold, the sound is cut allowing for silence on stage between songs or even in the rehearsal room where constant hum and hiss can drive you mad! In mint condition, boxed with instructions etc. £59.99 collected from Ruislip, North West London. Can post for £4.99. NO TRADES!
13. Highly regarded overdrive pedal, handmade for Darkglass by 3Leaf Effects. In immaculate condition with box. More midrange than a B3K so, IMHO, cuts through better in a mix. Both are different flavours of awesome. Just £SOLD collected from Ruislip, North West London or can post for £4.99 within the UK.
14. I'd start by changing the preamp. Go for the Aguilar OBP3 which matches well with Spectors (standard fit on some models). It has a mid pot so you can cut as necessary. Also has two different frequencies for the mid pot. A great upgrade which may save you from changing pickups.
15. For those who aren't aware who they're dealing with when ordering from DV247, I suggest reading this first: http://theeccentricblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/digital-village.html?m=1 Certainly not a company I would want to deal with or support. Aside from that, most product comes from Germany with European plugs and power supplies. Each to their own though...
16. The Ibanez Promethean P3110 blows the TC out the water. Plus it's smaller, to boot.
17.
That's a good point, hopefully it won't mean price increases!
Nope, it won't mean price increases....it'll mean you won't be able to buy Peavey gear in Europe. They are looking for a distributor but it's gonna be a tough sell so I wouldn't expect to see any new product this side of the pond for at least a year or two. That's my opinion only but I just can't see any of the distributors who are large enough to be able to handle a brand as diverse as Peavey wanting the line. Particularly as Peavey dumped a load of stock into the market when they closed their warehouse so no new distributor will be able to sell profitably until the old stock is sold on. Put it this way, Don't hold your breath for the new heads to turn up this side of the pond... See article here: http://www.audioprointernational.com/news/read/peavey-closing-uk-distribution-centre-as-part-of-global-restructure/07362
18. Peavey have closed their European distribution facility. It is unlikely that, in the short term, any new Peavey gear comes into Europe.
19. Well, I've only gone and done it! Pics of my new 'practice amp' as requested here: I've only had a chance to try it at low volume for about 2 minutes. I've gotta say it definitely sounds different (better!) than a single cab. I'm not sure how long the honeymoon period will be, but I've got a smile on my face just looking at it! My bandmates don't yet know about the second cab. I can't wait for the next band practice! As has been said in this thread, forget trying to justify it......JFDI as Nike say!
