Never played on either a Dingwall or a fanned fret bass (Are they mutually exclusive?) Have to rectify this at the next Bass Day.

Well only 127 miles separates you in Chester from the one place in UK that has the most Dingwall's in stock to try

Wow Wazoo...

Where did all those Dingwalls come from? And more importantly, where did all the MusicMen go?!

Rich :)
What is the waiting time roughly on a Dingwall PJ?
Not greater than EBMM on the "normal" models, its the Prima Artists that take a lot longer, however the only one which I have ordered which was built from scratch was the Super P/J ordered on 08/10/2010 was completed on 11/02/2011 and arrived here on the 16/02/2011 so all in all 4 months. But Bass Direct at the moment has got tons of them in stock to suit most tastes, although not yours cause you are ever so picky! LOL

Well in a nutshell, I went to the Bass Gallery in Camdem to buy me a Mark Bass Compressore pedal... and there were two Ding's on the wall the Natural Ash ABZ 5 and a Lyme Green Combustion, I tried them both and took home the ABZ ash one, just couldn't keep my hands off that bass. Later that day I went back home and compared the new purchase with my 4 EBMM's (Bongo 5, Big Al 5, 25th 5 and Stingray 5) and decided to abandon the EB ship and jump on the Ding's one. And that's what happened but RICH what happened to you all these months have you been on tour ?? Not heard a word from you for ages

I'd love to hear your ABZ! I've been aching to play a 5 or 6 string Dingwall (a bit far from Bassdirect me! :) ) after one of my favourite artists started playing an ABZ 5 and his custom Prima Artist 6! (Alberto Rigoni of Twinspirits if you were wondering!)

Alberto and I are very good friends, (we are both Italians), he is coming to visit London soon and will be staying with us as guest, I have promised to take him to Bass Direct to have a blast.

Indeed... Sounds like you found your bass nirvana mate! As for me, yes I was playing a lot in the latter half of last year, combined with splitting up with the missus of eleven years standing, so been spending all my time rebuilding life from scratch. Getting there now, though. Have a lovely new house in North East Lincolnshire and the general malaise in the playing work (very worrying first quarter this year!) has thankfully eased a little & the work is coming in again. Good news is that I'm still enthusiastically flying the Status flag as always :)
