I was keeping an eye on this one, thinking it might go for less than a ton.

£238.

That's for a cheapo DB which sells new for £385, and has had its neck snapped clean off. Without warrantee. And scuffed up.

I had a word with my regular luthier about it. Even as a favour to me, he'd charge £50 to repair that properly, so if I'd bought it I'd have ended up spending about £300 on a broken-but-repaired instrument when I could have a brand new one (with warrantee) for just £85 more.

Just me, or is that barking?

Perhaps it was being used as a prop in a music video? (lets smash up the double bass ...)

Agreed, barking
It does seem odd but then ebay does that sometimes - folks will pay nearly as much for an item that isnt new as you can get a new one for by searchingon google -

Well bizarre!
I sold a Squier on eBay a few years back for more than it was new, some people are crazy.
