1. I can see where you are going wrong Graham, you are involving your wife in your bass plans, these two things are best kept apart, the only thing that dictates what I buy is my bank balance the bassman is right, get a super midget but buy it because YOU want it not the ball and chain PS, I am at the age where I dont really care if the `love tap` is turned off, after 20 years of marriage bass is more enjoyable anyway
2. My Super Compact inclusive external dimensions; H - 578mm W-475mm D-310mm I dont have a Roqsolid
3. I can see your point Chris, my original thoughts were; I carry full PA,stands, monitors etc as well as my bass gear, two small 8 ohm cabs are easier to pack in my car for gigs (one on front seat) and would sound just as good as my Super 12, as most people, my amount of gear is getting bigger so space is at a premium, its a struggle with the S12, I am also suffering a post xmas GAS attack and I like the generation 3 Barefaced cabs, a matching pair would be great, I appreciate your thought though
4. I will gig the Super 12 tomorrow, I have tried both with my Shuttle 9.2 now and obviously the Super Compact does not have the fullness or power (8 ohms + 500 watts) to match the Super 12 (4 ohms + 900 watts) , I am planning on getting either another Super Compact or Super Midget and then selling the Super 12 so I have a modular rig . I am a bit of a worrier with my gear, dont like to risk anything with it , here is a pic
5. I am keen to gig it on saturday, logic tells me to run it in a bit more first in case I end up really cranking my Shuttle 9.2 up, I know the amp is 500 watts at 8 0hms so well within the cabs rating but even so, it will still be running pretty hard so caution does not do any harm, I dont want to risk damaging my new toy, probably being over cautious Barefaced cabs really look nice in silver cloth, my super twelve wears a silver shirt-love it
6. I got my new super compact yesterday, it took a while to get through the packaging, I have never known any other goods delivered in such a well protected way, full marks for that I really like the look of this cab, very nicely finished with a lovely upgraded handle and grille which looks very nice and adds a look of quality . I had a play last night in the house and was very pleased with the sound, nicely focused and articulate, as per my experience with my Super 12, I know it will open up as the speaker loosens, I have a gig this saturday but not sure whether to take this cab or my Super 12, we get LOUD so might wait until I have loosened it up a bit first before gigging it ? Thanks Alex, I will hopefully be ordering either another super compact or a super midget in the near future Proud to be a Barefaced fanboy
7. My ideal cab would be light, powerful and sound great so a Barefaced Super Compact (and maybe a Super Midget) should fit the bill
8.
In the interest of balance I think this poll should be repeated for every brand of Loudspeaker manufacturer. This carping on about relatively small issues on one brand is tiresome. Can you imagine the Americans carrying on like this about one of their own. My own Ashdown 5-15 has a lightweight handle that looks fragile and probably wouldn't last as long as the rest of the box. The carpet finish attracts the dust as well as the cat! It's shape, combined with the handle position makes it awkward to carry and very hard on the wrist, but it's adequate for my indoor needs. It doesn't have any internal damping panels. It's slightly honky and boomy all at the same time. Getting it to a bass-bash requires a lengthy drag from the upstairs bedroom and a sack-barrow/trolley to the car. It's a compromise. Barefaced cabs seem to have far fewer compromises and have a particular focus on light weight with a definite appliance of acoustic science and engineering. This R&D, choices of particular materials and small-scale manufacture costs money, but it achieves the design brief. Many other "big brands" out there don't seem to apply much acoustic science or engineering beyond the bare minimum. It's all about showroom appeal. Personally I'm equivocal. I've heard others play them at 2 bass-bashes. Not heard them anywhere else. They make a big sound. Couldn't find a question box that fits my overall opinion. Could have ticked boxes 2,3,4,9,12 and 13. I settled for one. Balcro.
Nicely put, in context I dont think they are too expensive, before I went to BareFaced I must have spent more on inferior cabs than what my Super 12T cost me, 2xTC Electronics BC212s plus a GK MBE115, I got rid of them at a loss as usual, the S12 is far superior, if I had not bought them and got the S12 first I would have spent no more for a quality product, I had a practice last night and th BF still does it for me
9.
Oooh, a Barefaced thread, that's new, can I join in? I worried about spending my hard-earned but after two years with the non-T Midget this thing has never failed to sock it out. Almost the only times I've ever DI'd have been outdoors. About 200+ gigs with soul bands, rockabilly four-pieces, hardcore bluesers, folky rockers. Waft up looking casual, plonk weeny box in a corner, fire up the TB500, accept a drink, plug in, boom. Punch, clarity, all the shizzle. Uh, I may have been more than a little too loud on occasion. WTF do you lot with the big cabs sound like? Jeez. Nice one Alex and crew.
`Musician needs/wants a new cab, makes decision based on information available at the time, pays money, recieves product, is either satisfied or not with product, if satisfied then brand loyalty follows, if not buys another brand` the world keeps going round, nobody gets hurt or killed, politics are such a bad thing
10. I have had a BF Super 12T for nearly two years, I am a very satisified customer not a fanboy, I am hoping to take delivery of a new Super Compact this month, ultimately I judge with my ears and could not be happier, the fact that the cabs are also great for those with back and other issues is a bonus - thank you Alex The BF website is full of so much good info, I have learnt a lot from it and made my buying choices armed with a bit of knowledge which to me is important .
11.
I should probably point out that I'm on a mission to build the ultimate lightweight bass cab - more details over here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...40&start=40 Alex
Sorry but I couldnt resist it, do you think you will succeed
12. I know I am heard ( quite a distance away ) at the moment with a Super 12 T, I am intrigued by the new generation 3 BF cabs and cannot resist something new and shiny, its been a long time since I spent a proper amount of money on something good, I like the idea of having the choice of 1 or 2 smaller cabs depending on how much space I have in my car, a super compact stack is very appealing, or possibly better to have a super compact/super midget stack for more variation !
13. I just took the plunge and ordered a super compact, see how I like it then may sell the Super 12T to fund another, or a super midget - ahh decisions decisions, the only downside as I see it is that my Streamliner 900 will `only` put out 500 watts at the 8 ohms of the super compact
14. I have the same rig and believe me it is immense huge sound with great portability
15. I dont care if its `punk` or not but I know that myself and a lot of `punks` like/liked the following bassists irrespective of `genre`; Klaus Flouride - Dead Kennedys (my personal favourite) The Damned`s bassists over the years New Model Army`s bassists over the years JJ Burnel Bruce Foxton Glen Matlock Lemmy
16. The rumours are definitely true, so much in fact that you become spoilt by its magnificence and take it for granted, there is me enjoying the wonders of my Super 12T while recovering with a busted leg and I had a thought about replacing it with two midgets for the versatility of the two tiny cabs instead of one bigger cab scenario, how pampered have I become that I thought to replace a 42lb (still lightweight) mega cab with two 20lb cabs, it would be nice to have the choice of only taking one cab to rehearsal or small gigs, if anyone has two midgets and wants to do some kind of deal for the Super 12T let me know, alternatively I might just keep my S12T and save a bit more cash to buy another of Barefaced`s products on the basis that you cant have too much of a good thing after all
17. Bareaced Super Twelve T all the way for me, amazing cab and so easy on the back with the built in wheels
18. I played my first gig with my new G30 last friday and loved it, as comments, no detectable loss of tone or signal, perfect . I am aware of the battery compartment door weakness though, due to the spring force of the terminals at the bottom of the unit, the batteries push upwards against the door which has a cheap weak looking catch, I will only leave batteries in the unit for the duration of a gig which should dramatically reduce the time the door catch is under stress . The other weak area I have read about is the belt clip mounting breaking, I simply play with my unit in my back pocket, no problems .
19. I wonder if Alex had asked himself how many cabs he would sell when he made his first cab ! The amount of love Barefaced cabs are getting now is amazing, but not surprising considering how good they are . My vote goes to my BF super 12 T
20.
Your wife can identify different types of helicopter by their sound? Cool!!
We have Chinooks from RAF Odiham fly around our area and they sound very distinctive, I think she prefers a low, deep throbbing ! The Super 12T sounds amazing with a GB Streamliner 900, cant praise mine highly enough .
21. I exchanged my V1 for a Phillips JAN 5751 and agree with the comments, it seems smoother and more manageable .
22. I have had GK MB gear and have to say I think it is pretty budget quality stuff, I had an MB210 combo amp with an MBE 115 cab which at the time I thought was the bees knees but soon tired of the very boomy muddy tone, I had an MB212 combo which packed up after 20 minutes of playing so went back for a refund, I now have a GB Streamliner 900 and Barefaced Super Twelve T which are light years ahead in quality, I wish I had not bought the GK MB gear and saved up enough for the gear I have now as I lost some money in the process, the moral of the story if `dont buy cheap at first as you will lose money when you buy quality stuff`
23. Yes Greg, they have a very neat little toggle switch for the active/passive modes, the deluxe series have a superb active set up with a nice natural sound unlike some actives I have played . I have decided to keep my deluxe P and have fitted some flats to it, I like the Jazz but it does not suit all our songs, this is where the P is great, I use the Jazz for the first set then the P for the second as its more rocky and fits better .
24. The neck width at the nut on my Jazz is a good 3mm narrower than my P Deluxe so if the Antigua Jazz has a standard Jazz sized neck then that is incorrect . I think the other factor that makes my P seem harder to play than my J may be the fact that I have just fitted Rotosound 77 flats which seem to have more tension and are a bit stiffer .
25. I have an american made 2010 Fender Precision Deluxe in sunburst, rosewood neck with hard case in fantastic condition, it plays perfectly and is stunning . I have recently bought a new Antigua MIM Jazz and find the neck more to my liking as I have small hands and fingers . Now what I am wondering is if anyone is interested in swapping (with minor cash adjustment either way depending on age) an american made Fender Jazz Deluxe for it, must be the equivalent model to my Precision, ie active/passive etc, I will consider any colour as long as its the genuine Fender finish, obviously the Jazz has to be in as good condition as my P . The P and J Deluxe models are around £1400 new now so please dont offer the standard american Jazz model, it has to be the Deluxe . Thanks
