1. I still have my Super twelve T, fantastic cab and it always gets compliments
2. I played my first gig with my Streamliner 900 last night and have to say that when combined with a Barefaced Super twelve it is pure tone and power heaven, it is also a very lightweight and portable rig !
3. PF500 and BF Super Twelve for me - simply superb
4. We used to do `get back` but now its `keep on rocking in the free world` by neil Young
5. I was in a similar position, I was undecided bewteen a midget/compact stack or super twelve, I decided that the super twelve was the way to go as it was still lightweight and easy with the wheels and would cater for just about all the venues I am likely to play, I am happy with my choice, it sounds amazing with my Ampeg PF500 . I also saved bucketloads of money too !
6. My PF500 has never had a problem running through my Barefaced Super Twelve, I did play a gig last friday where I could have done with a bit more headroom though so am gassing for an SVT PRO7, I have to say it was extremely loud in a large packed pub though !
7. I would say that the cause of the farting is the cab used, I experienced the same thing with my PF500, for a while I used it with two TC BC212 cabs and it farted badly at moderate volume ( a traditional rock covers trio) , it was fine at usual gig levels but as a gig progressed and the level/adrenalin goes up naturally the farts came thick and thin and the bass sound deteriorated badly and ruined my pleasure, this was with 4x12 speakers, now I use the BF Super Twelve I can turn the volume up as much as I like and the sound remains clean and clear unless I up the gain too much for distortion, I cannot stay in the same room as my rig when its really cranked as it hurts my ears !! The TC cabs were only rated 250 watts @ 8 ohms each, I know combined they were 500 watts @ 4 ohms but I believe the speakers were simply not good for the PF500 hence the flatulence !
8.
Agree completely although the barefaced cabs thrive on big watts so your next urge will be for a bigger amp cos you'll feel you're not doing your super 12 justice lol.
Funnily enough, I have started considering the Ampeg SVT Pro 7 but to be perfectly honest, the kind of gigs we play do not warrant the expense or need for a bigger amp, we do not run anything other than vocals through the PA so a bigger amp would drown the drummer out and cause damage to others ears, the gig on saturday was in a fairly large pub and with the PF500 running at approx half capacity it absolutely filled the room with bass quality sound, the PF500 with the Super Twelve is a VERY loud rig and in reality a bigger amp would only be played at the same volume, the only benefit would maybe be better quality sound ?
9.
Put the pf500 with a berg or barefaced cab and you may see a difference.
You know you want to , the Barefaced Super Twelve will get the best out of the PF500 no worries, I could not believe how much better and louder it sounds than when I used two TC BC212s with it, they farted quite easily and got very muddy as the volume went up and I am not talking about more than halfway on master and gain .
10. I must have a good one as it has been 100% reliable so far
11. As a matter of interest, what model was the TC 2x10 cab the OP used with the PF500, if it was a TC BC 210 I could understand the farting as they are not great cabs and only rated at 250 watts at 8 ohms . The PF500 sounds superb through a good quality cab IMO and punters I have played to, not to mention my band mates who are blown away with my rigs tone
12. I have a PF500 and had farting probs with TC cabs but now I have upgraded to a Barefaced Super Twelve it is fantastic, the cab allows it to run extremely high levels without the slightest hint of a fart, it really does make a difference, maybe the TC cabs are the cause of the farts as I have found out .
13. I downsized from a TC BH500 with a pair of TC BC212s to an Ampeg PF500 and Barefaced Super Twelve T, now I have a rig which is half the size and weight with 100% better tone and a LOT more quality output What about the Ampeg PF350 ? regards the Barefaced cab, go for it, I have no experience of the Midget but the Super Twelve is one helluva good cab
14. It would be good if anyone has any pics to post of their auditions
15. Good replies, I think what I was saying was that Wilko`s guitar set the style and sound of the band in a unique way, you could not have Dr Feelgood without him, they did exist for a while but not the same sound, his guitar almost jumps out at you and is the first thing I hear ! I agree about Hank Marvin too !
16. Wow, this is great, if the successful candidate is a BC member then please remember it was me who posted the vacancy in the first place, autographs and a chance to meet the band when the play down south will be sufficient Best of luck to all, this is one helluva good job !!
17. How many bands have had their sound dominated by a single guitarist in an original way, obviously Hendrix etc but how about Dr Feelgood, Wilko is a great player with style and is still going strong, he is no great singer but his guitar speaks enough ! 18. I bought my PF500 from there, good shop but very limited for bass considering the size of the place ???? just one tiny room to squeeze into if there are more than 3 people in it . The PF500 is a great amp, love mine
19. My Ampeg PF500 amp and Barefaced Super Twelve T is dynamite, perfect match for me and lightweight
20. I have just got in from band rehearsal, the Super Twelve got a good session, I dont know how Alex can get so much out of such a compact and lightweight cab, it sings, it has turned my Ampeg PF500 into a different amp, the amp has a 5 way mid selector switch which I could not really get into with my previous cabs but now I can hear every slight difference in tone, there is not the slightest hint of a fart at any setting, and as for power and tone, this cab has it by the bucket-load . We played in the kind of hall tonight that sucks tone out of a rig but there was plenty with this rig I have not even used the active on my Fender P deluxe yet, it would just be too loud !!
21. I am selling my TC Electronics rig, it consists of a BH500 amp and two TC BC212 cabs . It is in good working condition but does have some light marks on the cabs from transit . Everything works as it should and it is a very well equipped amp with lots of built in features such as a tuner, compressor, tube-tone, 2 contours, 3 tone presets which are really easy to use . http://www.tcelectronic.com/bh500.asp Its a great first proper rig and looks and sound good, it also packs a punch !! I am looking for offers close to £500 and am in Basingstoke Hampshire . For details please send me a PM or phone; Graham 07954 348907 Thanks
22. The PF does have a warmer more rounded tone than the BH500 and is easier and more straight-forward to use, I like both but have found that I dont need all the bells and whistles of the TC even though they are very good, also the PF is a lot smaller and lighter . I think I will have to sacrifice a bit of volume for user friendliness
23. My Super Twelve is nicely broken in now judging by the deep bass throb as the sine wave is running, it has got steadily deeper at the same level . I have just had a play and boy is this thing loud and clear, open E sounds so good whereas before with my pair of TC BC212s it was farty at any decent volume, this thing keeps it clear until your ears hurt, its really that good One thing has surprised me, I have run my Ampeg PF500 and TC BH500 through the cab side by side and the TC has got the PF beat for volume !! I was not sure whether this cab would be loud enough after using a 4x12 stack but believe me it is - happy days, half the amount of loading and less weight too
