1. EMG-J set pickups in excellent condition, includes everything you see in the picture, plus the original box (excluding carpet). £85 delivered.
2. I owned this for a while and it really is a lovely bass. Very light and playable. I sold it for a fair amount more that this, so very surprised someone hasn't statched it up.
3. Yikes! Just remembered that the SKB case was a Christmas present from the missus so it'll be my balls if I just sell it off. Will include either an as new quality Fender gigbag or a Tribal Planet semi-regid case but which has a broken handle. Your choice.
4. Am moving on the JV Squier jazz featured in this part of 'bass porn': http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3506 It's been on permanent loan to me from my brother-in-law since he moved abroad a couple of years ago. He's run into some financial problems and I've offered to sell this for him. Had I the wherewithall, I would buy it myself but recent purchases (including a new bass) mean that's not possible (or even justifiable), which sucks as it's pretty difficult to part with it. This was professionally upgraded and completely set up a year ago by Chris Ward at the now defunct Bass Center. He installed the pickups, new bridge and set it up completely, including levelling the frets. It practically plays itself and has to be heard to be believed. The tone through my MB 1x12 combo is just incredible. This bass lives up to and exceeds all the hype and mystique that surrounds JV Squiers and this is a superb example. Whether you like it or not, the value of this bass will only increase because of that. So down to crass money. My brother-in-law obviously gets the full amount of the current market value of this bass but the mods were done at my own expense so I'd like to recoup those or keep the new hardware. I have all the original hardware and it will be included in the sale, no matter what. I think I've come up with some realistic and reasonable prices. For just the original bass: £620 With the BadAss II bridge: £650 With the EMG's: £750 I would strongly recommend to anyone to take it with the BadAss or you might have to have to have the setup done again or trust me to do a good enough job. Comes with a year old SKB Freedom hardcase which has only every had this bass in it so fits like a glove. Has a couple of superficial marks but is in nearly new condition. Will also put a new set of string on for the lucky owner. I really don't want to post this, so pickup preferred and recommended. Will deliver for free in the Enfiled/North London area or at fuel cost to a reasonable distance around North London or Essex.
5. I'm curious in the 2x10. Are those Emininence basslite drivers and does the cab follow any particular design or is it a copy of a particular cab? Thanks
6. Had some interesting trade offers come in. Still considering, however, so keep the offers coming!
7.
Hi I'll sell you a T151 cab if you are looking to add to the rig, makes it run at 500watts. It's the older narrower one so would look fine below yours as a mini rig! I've never used it, as the T210 I have is fine on is own. Looking for £320 or £340 with roqsolid cover.
The Traveller 151 sounds interesting but it would mean laying out a larger amount of cash than I was intending. I'd have to pay for delivery to London as well.
8. Looking to trade my Markbass CMD121P combo with a similar amp and cab or combo. Was thinking of using the amp separately with a new cab but by the time I've bought the cab and a case for the head, I might as well get something else and not have a 1x12 hanging about that I'm not using. For combos, would consider trade/part exchange with the CMD 102P, Mini CMD 151P (but not the CMD 103H) or similar quality/weight combos. Would also consider separate heads and cabs combinations. For amps, either the Markbass LMII, Genz-Benz shuttle or similar quality/weight amps. As for cabs, a Markbass, Genz-Benz, Zoot or similar quality lightweight cab. My CMD121P is about 8 months old and bought from new. Still covered by Markbass' 2 year guarantee and I have the original box/packaging and shop receipt. Not really looking to sell it outright but would consider it if if I don't get offered something tasty. Show me what you got.
9.
Some of their units are shown on the wilmslowaudio.co.uk site, which is mainly biased toward DIY hi-fi. Balcro.
Yikes! Cheap they are not! Two (or even one) of those would set me back more than a decent commercial complete cab.
10. When I had some loudspeakers reconed by the marvelous Wembley Loudspeakers (in Shepherd's Bush, London) a few years ago, I got to talking about bass drivers and they mentioned a company called Volt. They claimed they were the best speakers they'd ever seen and they must have seen a lot in their time. Interestingly, they make drivers for Glockenlang who I hear make pretty darned good bass cabs! They're £1000+ and well out of my price range. Recently, I've thought about getting some of their drivers and sticking them in either my SWR Goliath Jnr (2x10) or Peavey TVX (2x10). Now, I know it's really not that simple and the internal volume (size) must be the recommended amount for those drivers, porting must be right, etc. I also thought about making a custom cab, perhaps based on the measurements of one of Glockenlang's cabs or based on Volt's suggested enclosures. Does anyone have any advice/experience with these speakers?
11. Interesting looking cab. Might be interested in this but can't find anything about it on Marbass' web site, so I think it's discontinued. Do you know it's weight and dimensions?
12.
I use Ikea bags.. 50p each and waterproof. Brilliant for smallish cabs, heads and combos. I leave the short handles on so other things can be piled into the covers and then carried to the off stage storage during playing ... Use two layers with a layer of bubblewrap in between for protection. Cut to fit and for handles, etc , and gaffa tape the seams. On my active monitor cover there's a pocket for teh power and XLR cables it uses as well. If the bags aren't big enough then DIY shop sell sheets of the same stuff (called "tarp" though not actual tarpaulin) for not much. One sheet would probably be enough for everything in the band Not as smart as hand made designer stonewashed and over dyed denim, of course
Great Idea. Will definately look into that. Had a huge sheet in my garden and threw it away an few months ago. *sigh* Oh well, won't cost much to by some more.

14.
The technical term for that stuff is reinforced vinyl fabric, and can usually be found in fabric stores, especially those that sell materials for upholstery.
Will start tracking down some of that....
Find a local upholstery firm in the yellow pages, a friend of mine runs a company that re-covers sofas, chairs and the like (yes re-covers rather than dispose of the old and buy new... a rare thing these days hence her company is struggling) and years back she supplied my band with covers for our PA speakers. Shouldn't be 'that' expensive to get the material, if your wife has a decent machine to stitch them. I'd ask my friend if she had any but then you'd need to add on the postage costs so it may be better to source it locally. If you get stuck and just require the material I can enquire for you but I do know that they don't have the manpower available to divert from well paid work re-covering 3-piece suites to run up covers!
It would be great if you could at least ask her what the material is called, that would be much appreciated. I then would have a choice of using that or the reinforced vinyl fabric that Bill advised me of.
15. Now sold, pending the usual. Thanks for all the interest.
16.
How much? Bargain of the year, somebody buy it. I would but I would have to factor in the cost of a divorce lawyer as well. P.
Starting bid £50, BIN of £80. Won't let it go for less than that though, might as well keep it otherwise although resigned myself to taking a hit on it. Can't go wrong with that price, folks.
17. Now on evilBay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=130273699071
18. The covers for our Peavey HiSys are now falling to pieces after many years of service. I've enquired about Roqsolid ones and they're reasonable for what they are but we're bearing in mind there are 2 speakers which doubles the price. With that in mind, I'm investigating the possibility of making some myself. My missus has kindly volunteered to run them up on her sewing machine. The current covers are made from a tough, rubberised (on the outside) material. Anyone know where I can buy this stuff from? I've tried places like Maplin and Thomann already but the closest the come is cab covering, i.e. the carpet kind that you stick to your cab when you build it. Actually, I was thinking of using that stuff as a padded lining for covers I make. Ideas, people. Edit: Actually, if anyone knows where to get the kind of material Roqsolid make their covers out of, that might fly too.
19.
Sinister is originally a Latin term for left or to the left (and by extension, left-handedness), and is used in heraldry to refer to the left of the bearer of the arms, and to the right by the viewer's eyes. It is often used to mean evil.

1. Suggesting or threatening evil: a sinister smile. 2. Presaging trouble; ominous: sinister storm clouds. 3. Attended by or causing disaster or inauspicious circumstances. 4. On the left side; left. 5. Heraldry Situated on or being the side of a shield on the wearer's left and the observer's right.
Not that I'm attributing negative connutations to lefties, you understand...
20. Last bump before eBay. £120 to your door? You just can't go wrong with that!
21. Even though my newer stuff is MB there are 2 pieces of equiment that I wouldn't part with. One is my TE V-Type pre-amp, the other is my (original) Goliath Jr. The former is in storage but the latter has been permenantly in my gig rig since I bought it several years ago. The clarity, projection and tone are deceiptively good for what are relatively small cabs and an excellent pairing with my MB combo. Someone's, going to get a real treat when they buy this stuff, they'll be grinning for days.
