I don't see it as a case of being used to the jag, so you can't fit with the RIC. I moved the jag on after I got a stingray as the stingray just fitted me better, the neck, pickup position, overall sound. And I had the jag for nearly a year and played it exclusively. It was a case of no matter what I played it wasnt a jaguar so didn't fit the bill. Now it's a case of it's not a stingray it won't fit the bill. ATM I'm feeling that I'm extremely happy with what I have, so anything else is just going to be in the way.

I recon when I'm buying I have a fairly high budget, however I'm picky and insist on my basses being White, like some kind of supremacist. Selling usually because I don't need it, or want it. Basses get sold/traded for a change of scenery. I've never made any money selling here, even though a few basses I brought here and sold back to BC members at a loss. I also browse quite a bit when I'm bored incase something amazing comes up that I must have. I feel this is where a lot of people get GAS induced offers from people, who then realise they can't afford it/don't need it.
I have been playing the Ric now as my main noodling bass and rehearsal bass and still cant connect with it. The Jag reigns supreme. So what do I do? move on the bass that I have lusted for for so long? or keep it as a show piece! I said to the wife that I should never have got it as the dream is never as good as the reality hahaha.
Want to trade for a big al? Although I've just gone through this as you know with the BA.

I get to use this setup this Friday at rehearsal so will get a chance to hear it at volume with the guys. Looking forward to it. I'm surprised they haven't taken this 1 knob spectracomp and put it in a pedal, keeping the LEDs.

Personally the only weigh you can get a bass(ier) sound out of a guitar amp, is more speakers, or larger ones. For a time I used a orange ad120htc with 2 4x12, it sounded sweet but even with a huge speaker setup it still sounded thin in the lows compared to a full range bass amp. I also realise than you could use bass cabs, however you'll struggle to find the right wattage to go with the amp head for it to be able to drive it enough while staying reasonable clean. So then you next choice is bigger speakers but then you are moving away from the point of small. I think you are fighting a losing battle. Bassists needs considerable watts to be reasonable clean and loud enough to be heard, even in quiet settings.

Indeed the OTBs DI out is IIRC about 14 dbs above whatever the norm is. This maybe BS but IDK. Wow. Anyway personally I think that the OTB is a very good match for the midget but you definatly won't get as much treble response than a more hi fi head, also if you end up needing more you just get another midget.

It's the break angle on the string, between nut and tuning post. The better the break angle the better the clearance from the first couple of frets, this is usually a cause of buzzing strings when played open. More likly so since you haventhe drop D thing, as the post is usually taller than normal tuning posts, which means you need to make sure you have enough wrappings around the post.

Which mainstream artist would you like to play for?
'pop' bands???????
Popular bands.... I hear tinie tempah is rolling around with an actual human bassist, since I saw him on jools holland before the album came out I thought that it would be cool to play for him, specially since the drummer is awesome and there is the occasional funky dub piece. -
-
I don't know many guys who favourite colour is sequoia gold.... My favourite colour is blue, however I demand having White basses.
-
If it doesn't happen everytime, maybe it's the break angle between nut and tuning post, or just a dead string.
-
I agree with your first point. I guess that's why I like them... Maybe it's my treble guitar heritage, but for the music I play and the sound our band has it's great, you are supposed to hear as a separate interty but also hold in the low end. Can't comment on point 2. Not tried hardly any jazz types and P types other than cheapo bargain ones.
I thought it was more that black just absorbs light instead of reflecting it, meaning it doesn't reflect the lightwaves needed to produce each of the specific colours. It's also in the CMYK colour model, so it must be officially a colour And on that note, we return to the OP... talk**** nonsense
Absorbing and non reflecting - absence of light, no? What does favourite colour have to do with bass.?

At the end of the day only you know what you want from a bass. For me a stingray looks great, plays great and more importantly sounds great. A Fender jazz looks great, but for ne isn't comfortable and the sound I dislike. P's; well I think they look cheap and nasty and sound cheap and nasty. Personal opinion please don't start flaming me guys However I am hypocritical, as I would love to own a "great" fender jazz and precision just haven't found one yet. Where as rays do it for me 9 times out of 10.

I'd rather own a mid 90s stingray, myself.

Get a stingray.

If you want something loud and compact but all valves, I'm afraid you are parking up the wrong tree. A choice is a guitar head however anything with enough power to golive reasonable bottom end is still going to be big and quite weighty. The way I see it is you have a choice between, the ashdown LB and a super sensitive cab, or the SL112 with a hybrid head, or the tc rh450.
that stingray is lovely!
Mine? If so, it's the only bass I've had longer than a year and I dont even have a a thought about possibly selling, I don't think anyone would want it do to cosmetic damage but it sounds amazing, best ray ever, but I'm biased. I just want to comment on the spectracomp. Even though it is built in and a 1 knob job, it's the best compressor I've ever tried. The LEDs gives you so much info; weather you are adding to much compression or not enough, when it's compressing, when it's not. It's great! To set the right amount of compression. Ifi can video it and upload I'll post a link as it's very clever. It also doesn't kill the high end when compressing the lows keeping dynamics and importantly your sound intact. Very amazing head. Hope you start enjoying yours G as much as I am mine.

I used the terror bass with both the compact (1x15) and then a midget (1x12) I used it flat and with both you get a full ranged sound out of it which is only limited by the amps "vintage voice" which I noticed when I started using a markbass head. The compact is a good choice as you get the clear highs with a better bass response than the midget, although the tb head has a lot of bass(when flat) so even with the midget you get quite a full sound. Personally I would suggest the midget to anyone looking for a small, light and loud cab as for the money the cab is the best on the Market. The compact offers the same sound but bigger and better lows, which the terror bass isn't lacking. I highly recommend either, I haven't head any other can out there that makes me want to change. What alex has said above is true. The midget will be louder and fatter than the sp210 and louder than the 212 but may lose a bit of lows in comparison, but nothing a little EQ can't sort out.

You may have issue with dead electronics. For example on of the pickups is dead thus sounds thin. You may not have noticed live but will do when it's played solo on it's own. I'm surprised you hadn't played it before using it live to see if everything was kosher.
