Who is your most inspirational bassist?
Bassistclem replied to Chris2202's topic in General Discussion
Glad to see PAUL MACCARTNEY gets a couple of mentions. Doesn't always have to be fast and clever to be right. Great basslines for great songs. Interesting to see how many top pro's of all styles mention macca as an influence too. Other contenders... Bruce Jamerson Sting Zender Entwistle Rainey Watt-Roy Palladino Stop there...to many to mention -

I am a massive fan of the 80 Japanese instruments (guitars and basses) and although £400 might see a little bit pricey in the current marketplace, in reality the build and playability of these instruments blow away instruments that we find on the shelves these days in that price range. I was lucky enough to get a Yamaha BB1100s for under £200 and I honestly think I would have to pay at least £800+ to find anything as good new in the shops. Enjoy it. It is worth the price. -
Thinking of selling my beloved Bass Collection SB460 it has been with me since 1995 from new and cost me a whopping £600, I had no idea of basses back then and bought it as I loved how it played and sounded. Since then I have owned and sold 7 other bass collection basses and this is by far the best, the wood and satin finish with the pre amp is really superb. It has been sitting around my folks house for the past 10 years and finally thought I am never really going to play this anymore and my hands are more used to Precision necks now, so probably best to sell. I haven't a clue what it is worth maybe around £275 but you tell me I haven't seen another one like this before. The tuners are Gotoh and the rest is SGC pre and pups. Help if you know more thanks.
Nice bass. Never owned a bass collection but played on a couple and was quite impressed by them. Wouldn't mind having a blast on this one before thinking about buying. Where abouts are you?

I use a Boss OC2. Tracks very well until you get down to an A (Open A/ 5th fret E) which should be low enough for most needs. I also only use the 1 octave down with the direct signal. Love the pedal, not selling mine! It was used by Guy Pratt with Pink Floyd (Money solo) Jacko (Earth song) and Madogga (Like a prayer), amongst others...
I'm already looking forward to the Clayton-Berlin bass-off.
To even it up Jeff would have to shave of his mustache, that's the source of his super powers!
Just starting up U2 covers/tribute band in the Bournemouth/Poole area looking for a bass player to complete line up. First practice lined up for Monday 19th April 7pm.
Would love to..... If you could all just move about 200 miles north! Good luck with your search...

Absolutely... Adam Clayton is the perfect bass player for U2, just about the biggest band in the world and yet how would Adam fair in a bass-off with Jeff Berlin!!!.......Horses for courses as they say. Too many young players become obsessed with best/fastest etc etc.... This is not an olympic event people....
The old TRB range are good basses. I have the TRB6II which I bought for £475 about 8 years ago, if that's of any use. Jazz basses are about 38mm at the nut, so 40mm might be getting towards p-bass dimensions. That extra couple of mm makes all the difference, for me anyway. Jazz necks are a little too narrow for me.
Notice you have a Washburn Status for sale...Is it still available, at what price and where are you?????

Seen a TRB4II for sale for £400. I like the sound of them but has anyone played one? What do you think? Is it worth the money? Does anyone know the neck width at the nut, think it is 40mm (inch and half) like a traditional Jazz bass... Any input would be gratefully recieved. Clem
