1. Like I say mate, would love this but just not in the market unfortunately. It's my most wanted bass, for sure though. I'm always on the lookout for one, especially unaltered ones and even more especially the yellow natural version. They turn up like very late buses lol and usually when I'm skint, like now! Will I keep my eye on this though? Of course I will lol, I like torture :-)
2. Haha I'm in Wavertree mate, just off Lance Lane. Small world an all that...
3. Send me the link then tez (you are in F# tuning aren't you?) :-)
4. Cheers Martin. Shame my bank account has overdrawn written all over it lol... As for the colour, noel is right, it's the red burst; same as Hooky's famous BB1200 (and Macca's of course! )
5. Hi tezza Don't worry mate. I know the sheer quality of these and need absolutely no convincing at all. My BB1200 is tremendous, but it would be nice to have the option of the bridge pickup now and again. I just need 695 pounds lol.
6. I know mate, but I've given up on finding the natural. It was a total over reaction. Afterwards I realised that I simply just don't have the cash, for this or any natural version that may turn up. The mutt's nuts from the Yamaha golden age - somebody buy it, you won't be disappointed ;-)
7. And suddenly I'm completely distracted! ! The king of the Yams, right there... (Frantically thinking of ways to get the money together. ..!)
8. Bargainous and beautiful. Have an "if I only needed a 5er" type bump ;-)
9. Ahh mate, sorry to see this going. if I had the dough spare I'd have it in a flash i can vouch for Mr Vicars' top handiwork, as my fretless 5er also has a replacement ebony board fitted by him (it used to belong to mojo too) good luck with it mark
10. Fellow owner's bump. Great bass at this price!
11. Andy, I'm having trouble seeing the pics. Is this the silvery/grey coloured one? Suddenly wishing I had 400 quid!!
12. Oh mama!! Wanty wanty but alas no money as ever :-( Bump nevertheless
13.
They only look as bright as that for a short time after charging. I'm talking about the photograph I posted, which is not LEDs but glow in the dark replacement side dot markers... Luminlay is a rod of glow in teh dark material, and you have to drill the old markers and glue and trim this other material... I let my luthier friend do it so that they look "factory installed". They only glow strongly like that for a few minutes after charging, but they are able to glow faintly for a LONG time, charged just by normal lights around. Even in a low light environment, the faint glow adds enough to the markers so that they are noticeably easier to see... but nobody else will really see them. It's a very cheap and non-obtrusive way to improve the visibility of your side dots, which look just like standard dots under bright lights and do not look weird in any way... I can see how a bright glow can look gimmicky to some, but it does not look like that unless you keep charging them (which is possible, it takes 5 seconds so you could do it from time to time between songs)... the faint residual glow is what it's about for me (can't photograph that 'though).
a massive +1 for the luminlays, I love mine They glow for ages and are very discreet, well enough light to see where you're playing.
14.
Yamaha basses from this period were also funk machines..... check out this video at about 02:28 and see Sakuri going mental on his BB2000 (the two pickup version of this) :
Great video mate and nice to see a white 2000 in action. These basses are the mutt's nuts - someone come and get it!!
15. This seems like a great bass for very little money, have a bump sir!
16. The prodigal son returns, eh mark? Nice to hear it's come home. Its fretless twin is going on tour this week
17. I think Hooky's was the cherryburst version. This is exactly like mine, but mine doesn't have the pickguard. As Noel said, it's unusual to see them fitted. My only fretted bass now and I love it It's great to see this has the tool kit included A great price too! BCer Mojo was asking about buying mine recently, maybe he'll fancy this one...?
18.
Chants "I don't need another Yamaha .....I don't need another Yamaha"
you and me both mate
19.
fashion and peoples new inability not be able to carry anything weighing more than a bag of sugar. This is a stonking rig, the amps are just ace!!
+1 mate
20. I sold my Yamaha to Jerry and he was a total gent to deal with. Would happily do business again, for sure! One of BC's good guys
21. I'd be well up for having a crack this month, the pic is giving me Eno vibes! Rehearsing solidly for a tour which starts on 22nd though, so not got any time unfortunately. Will be checking in on the entries though
