Hi guys, does anyone know of any UK based luthiers/companies who sell Jazz bass bodies? I know you can get loaded bodies on Ebay from the US but would rather find something here.... I'm after a finished body (potentialy coloured) with all the appropriate holes drilled (bridge/scracthplate), the ones from allparts and WD only have the neck plate holes and I'm not sure how much I trust myself to drill the bridge holes in the right place!! Any advice would be really appreciated! Dave

It looks and feels like a much more expensive instrument and has excellent build quality. here's the MTD spec: - 35" scale 5 - 24 medium jumbo frets - Zero fret 1-1/2" wide, - One-piece neck with satin polyester finish - Carved Mahogany body with Maple Burl top (satin amber finish) - MTD quick release bridge, 3/4" (19mm) spacing - Double-action truss rod - Maple f/b - Five controls:volume, blend, plus 3 band EQ Looking for [s]£570[/s] [s]£530[/s] £500 ono for this. Pickup or meet is preferred but postage can certainly be discussed! pics now up!.....Just so you know the shot of the back of the bass is not a crack...it's just a weird angle of the grain! Dave

BBC1 documentary 2235 tonight: Paul Simon's Graceland
davebass66 replied to cloudburst's topic in General Discussion
There shouldn't be a bass player in the world who doesn't own Graceland...truly great bass playing. As in the whole package IMHO! -
I'm really not sure!....I got in touch with the guy from mij fenders to see if it's the sort of thing he could facilitate...can't translate the fender jap website! Will hopefully find out in the next few days

I am seriously tempted by it!....I do find it interesting that Fender Japan do so many different varieties/takes on Fender basses whilst USA seem to just re hash stuff! Fender Japan is official fender still right?! (is that a stupid question)!?

So have been looking into getting one of the Jap non export 62 ri jazz basses (gassing for one in sonic blue) and came across this beast which I've never seen or heard anyone mention before.... http://translate.goo...rjapan.co.jp%2F Anyone have any experience of these? I wonder what they play/sound like? Seems a little steep price wise for Jap electronics/hardware but still....that natural finish is beautiful! Whilst I'm here, can anyone give me a rough price for import from Japan? any wierd hidden customs charges I'm likely to incur? Dave ps.....sorry that link doesn't take u to the page....navigate to the Jazz bass section, it's the JB/HO!

Hi guys...Been posting on and off for the last year or so and made some great deals with other members of the forum. Realised that I never did the whole formal introduction thing...so here I am! I'm a freelance bassist scraping together a living via performing recording and teaching. I have recently finished writing a diploma course for 'Play Something' (Herts Regional College) and teach 1 day a week in Birmingham at Shaun Baxters Academy of Music and Sound. Performance wise I play electric bass primarily but also work with the double bass. I am a singer and noodle on the guitar (only for writing purposes) Hope that is the right sort of way to introduce myself?!.... I have recently updated my website (after about a year)! So head over and check out some tunes! www.daveevansmusic.co.uk Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Dave

Hi Guys I Know this isn't strictly the right forum to put this in but I'm a bit desparate so need it to get some exposure! Was just wondering if anyone around herts/london area has a Fishman Plat pro pre amp I could borrow for next Monday? I have a session at the BBC and need something to go through.... I appreciate it is a long shot as I don't know people that well on here but I'm a very trustable kind of guy I promise Anyway I would be forever in debt if this was to happen!!!! Alternatively if you know anyone selling one again in the Herts/London area that would work too! Thanks a lot guys!!! Dave

I have to agree with you here..... I saw him playing with a good friend of mine in Kingston on Sunday evening, the show was really great (as it was the last time I saw him a couple years back). I chatted to them for a while afterwards and buying the album felt like the right thing to do... (although to be honest I wasn't that into his last record either)! I listened to it on the drive home and, whilst I enjoyed it it bore absolutely no resemblence to what the band had been playing earlier in the evening! I don't dislike the record, although it does seem a bit of a cop out type album... I think my conclusion is that I like janek a lot as a player - great tone, feel and groove with some nice chops - but I don't like him as a composer/writer.....

I feel the need to post this as it was just an incredible gig! Rocco literally changed the way I approach the instrument (for the better)! and although he didn't seem the cheeriest dude in the world it was certainly an honour for me to meet him and say thank you The rest of the band as usual were tight as anything...They just have the tightest arrangements in the world!!! Rocco and Garibaldi are like one person! All in all definitetly the best show I've seen this year and continiuing my journey through bass players that inspired me I have tickets for Sting next Monday! That'll make it Pino, Rocco and Sting in the space of 2 months!! Anyone else make it to the show last night? or have tickets for KOKO next month? Dave
