studio Compressors for sale...
funkgod replied to funkgod's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
cheers, nice, but both so different, the drawmer is good for making things heavy sounding where the alesis is a lot more subtle great on an output mix as its very good on clear hi end stuff and is good at squashing stuff but retaining the hi's, thats the prob with compressors i find, some are good for 1 thing and others for another, its hard to settle on one that covers most of your needs. -
just down the road, ellesmere port

Drawmer DL221 Classic "Thump" compressor, this thing just "Works" on anything, loads of info on the net, british made built like a tank, very well designed , works great on bass, and makes a pritty good dint when thrown at drummers, worth it just for that ! well used ( thrown 🙂 ) but works fine . ps if you find any blood on it, either wipe it off or populate the dna and grow your own drummer 🙂 £140.. Rare AS NEW Alesis CLX 440 Compressor Im having a studio clear out and this has been sat in a box for getting on 20 years, and i have used it once to try, when i say its like new, it is , no nasty crackles when you turn the pots, no bangs or scrapes to the finish, no dog snot all over the knobs, it looks great has a few little surprises, all the knobs has a really nice feel to them, weighty and not baggy at all, it also has 4 meters per channel i think its the only compressor that gives you that view, its 2U wide with original manual, you will NOT find a better condition one on the plannet and its yours for only £140, ! ! yep 140. review here. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/alesis-clx440

thats odd a shame to hear dave, i knew pete quite well, and never once had any issues with any of my wals i had about 6 of them then. in fact heres one thing about how good pete was, i think i was one of the only people gigging with a wal midi bass then, in a 3 piece band, drummer played drums keys and vocals ( dont ask !) his brother played guitat and lead vocals and i was playing my midi bass doing all sorts with it and limited backing vocals, people thought we were using midi files, great fun, till one night i stood on the blue lead that came out the back and ripped the D connector right out the back, next day i called pete and he had a new one at my house the next day with a wiring di, i was up and running in an hour for the next gig the next night, just 1 example of his top notch service, smashing bloke pete was. a far cry from the backup service as it is now ! ! ! yea you could pick thm up second hand for 500 then, if only i knew what i know now !

XMAS SALE NOW ON, WHERE PRICES ARE SO SLASHED UP, ITS AS IF ZORRO HAD JUST RODE THROUGH WTH HIS ERRRRR, YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING..... REDUCED TO £90 FOR ANYONE NEEDING A FLIGHT CASE. No longer needed, if you plan on shipping your bass or touring and you want it double safe, this is it, you could if wanted ship or tour with 2 basses in this if you configure the insides, at the mo it fits one, padlockable catches, heavy duty hinges and handle, you could chuck this downstairs and your bass would be safe, your house would be trashed and it would take ya front door out, but hay... at least ya bass would be ok, 🙂 collect from ellesmere port. dont mind a px for nice yummy studio gear im looking for an Alesis Masterlink at the mo, just incase.

i have a whirlwind lead " the leader" going right back from the 80s, i still use it to day, in that time i have got good leads for my studio like "Reference cables" used live and studio by Nile Rodgers. http://www.referencelaboratory.com/web/index.php?mode=home&lang=en great leads no doubt but i cant hear the diff between these and my whirlwind, and the whirlwind i think is more durable it never Twists, where as the Reference cable is very soft and if not coiled right will twist. also another lead i have had for a long time now and never seen another is a "Monteray" thats stood the test of time. and my VTG audio from the usa but you never seem to hear or see anything from them now, wiring my studio patchbays iv been using Van Damme silver core. and for live pa stuff i got a shed full of evolution and proell livewire, the live wires have a lifetime guarentee, not bad for a lead thats so cheap, i have had a few go down but they do get heavy used. loads of the cheaper leads i have used over the years, you find the copper earth and brading starting to go black and rotting. but not my whirlwinds the reference the monteray or the VTG. Now... my pet hate 😡... when guys in the band dont coil the leads right and chuck them in the flight case, one backing girl singer got quite offended when i told her not to knot them, in the end i got so fed up of telling her and showing her i told her just to leave them alone, GGUUUURRRR
