1.
How about the black Celinder that used to be the main image on the site home page?
I was going to mention that... then realised it had gone!!
 2.
Modulus are not currently trading , from what I understand , although I've heard a rumour that Genz Benz might be buying the brand .
If that's Genz... that would be Fender then?
 3. The JAN is a great invention. Slam it on. Forget about it. There's a lot of snake oil in this area. I've got a nickel nut on one of my basses. Why? Purely cosmetic. I've had basses with bone, tusq, plastic, brass and other assorted metals. Not convinced there's anything to get worked up about personally.
 4.
Are most new basses shot with nitro?
Cabs?
 5.
Cars used to be painted with nitrocellulose. Situation would be comparable if most cars still were.
Missing your point? PS I'm comparing my 2012 car with a 2012 Ferrari... or were you suggesting I was driving around in something shot with nitro?
 6.
Fat, balding, middle-aged blokes shouldn't wear leather trousers.
7.
I love everything abut my Compacts. Having said that, I've got the silver cloth versions - I don't like the look of the metal grille ones quite so much.
Must admit, I prefer the Fenderesque looking ones to the grills... but conversely, I love the look of that Berg with the metal grill pasted a while back.
 8.
If a textured pain finish is good enough for Martin, Court, Nexo and Turbosound, to name just a few, then I'm quite happy to belong to this elite with my 69er.
Using that logic, I'm quite happy with my car's paintwork being in the same elite as Ferrari...
 9. I was having a convo about "famous" basses owned by BCers with StingrayPete. Who owns them? For me... the basses I know straight off are Ped's Vigier, Dood's first flipflop purple Shuker and BigRedX's Gus. Whos are yours?
 10. Hey Pete, you know there is one sure fire way of seeing if its a Status!
 11. I'm still tempted to go for round 2 with NE circuit... feck everybody else off this time. Go Warmoth.
 12. It's all about finding that killer Squier.
 13. Funnily enough Pete, my RBX375 seems to be getting all the playing time at home at the moment!
 14.
Yep I'd go with that too, you can see from lots of peoples gear lists here that they have chosen not to buy an expensive bass but rather a few or more at lower prices but you do get a wiff of snobbery with these so called high end basses. I had around 7 grands worth of rays not that long ago, I just like them! I have played almost every brand going other than dingwall and Ritter so far, none were any better built than my classic5.
That Classic 5 is nice. If I was in the market for a new bass, it would be a contender... Mind you, I've just found myself looking at Pavel instruments...
 15. Ash down sounds like Bonfire night...
 16. Is the Minnie 800D available with a rack mount kit? I think there would be a lot of call if this was 1u height 1/2u width and rackmountable. There's loads of guys interested in a lightweight pre and poweramp setup (me included). There just doesn't seem to be a good solution at the moment! In other words, something like the Amplite - but less anaemic!
 17.
I left that rather open for misquoting didn't I?!
:-p
 18.
You'd expect us to be a lot better at it after hundreds and hundreds of cabs wouldn't you?
Yes. You would.
 19.
Why? Because they're both 2X12 cabs..?
Partly... But mostly due to the physics involved in enclosure design. There's an ideal sized enclosure for 2 drivers in a box... and this is dictated by physics... So it shouldn't really come as a surprise that a similar set of drivers results in similar sized cabs.
 20.
In the picture the Berg looks twice as big... It was supposed to be something that wasn't serious, maybe not a joke but...
Ah... OK. I get ya.
 21.
How do they compare price wise?
Above - £960 at Bass Direct (thats including the 10 pounds for postage) S12T (with tweeter) at £870 (with postage - Postage and packing UK postage and packing is charged at a flat rate of £30 for small cabs (Compact/Big Baby/Midget) and £60 for large cabs, i.e. the ones with wheels (Big Twin/Super Twelve/Dubster/Super Fifteen/'69er). ) So that's £960 vs £900. (Plus Berg has come from the US and through a dealer)
 22.
The Berg is clearly a lot bigger as well :/ That would be an issue for me
Oh really. 79cm x 46cm x 38cm vs 76cm x 48cm x 34cm Of course, the similarity in dimensions shouldn't really come as a surprise.
 23.
[sub]Aye that's a good looking cab.[/sub]
The one on the left (just to clarify)
