The Reed James pickups always sound killer. He's one of the best people to have on your friends list on fb too.
I want it to sound like the squier one I sold! Really happy with the way it plays and the build though, just needs beefing up, never had the volume knobs so high on any of my amps! I'm running the bass nearly flat out on the shuttle 3.0.
Get the circuit from BG and put it in a box. B and T with mid scoop switch. Or borrow my Microbass for a gig or so and see what that does for you. In fact, you could borrow my whole pedal board and have a proper laugh on Mustang Sally :-p The reason you are running your bass so high is that on your stingray you are boosting the bass before it hits the genz pre. Being passive, to get the same amount of bass response from the jazz, you're gonna have to crank the amp. If you don't want that, it's defo a case of running another pre for the jazz in front of the genz pre. -

Don't try and make your Jazz sound like a Stingray!! -
Although the stars in question tend to play non-Fenders on recordings and even on stage (mentioning no names).........
It's all part of the money making machine. I think that is pretty common. The only true faithful endorsee that springs to mind is Nathan East and Yamaha! I think most artists tend to flirt with numerous brands. Funnily enough - I was just watching a rig rundown for Robben Ford and was surprised to see Joe Glaser (of F custom shop) seems to have guitars come his way from Robben whatever the manufacturer. Interesting piece on how he worked on Robben's Epiphone to bring it more inline with the setup of Larry Carlton's 335.

CNC is not a bad thing - it ensures that the outlines are perfect - which is ideal for the stuff that matters, like the neck pocket, like the pickup routes, like the drill holes - no body wants a bass with a bridge on the piss... I think Fender have got it absolutely spot on with that respect. All the personal stuff - like the neck profiles, volutes, finishes - are done by hand and gives the appropriate nod to how things used to be done. I think it's a combination of best of both worlds personally. I've played some seriously old guitars and basses that have awful neck pockets and play like dogs. Sometimes however, if you can find one, you get a magical one. What the CS are doing are essentially trying to recapture that without the hit and miss element of luck. From a commissioning point of view, add the fact that you can spec wood outside their normal offerings, custom paint jobs... yiddah yaddah - and still have the F on the headstock and the certificate that the outcome is a purebred Fender albeit not to stock specs, that's why people pay the money. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it all have a F on the headstock and hence carry that heritage... and the guys working on them are luthiers to to the stars. It all adds to that warm cosy feeling.

Back has been pretty good today - minimal pain but I'm absolutely whacked. I slept all evening, all through the night and then woke up knackered this morning. I have spent most of the day asleep today. Just had a roast beef today though, so things looking up! -

Haha I have hypermobility in some of my joints - meaning I can bend my thumb back just over 90 degrees. I can put the thumbs on the back of their respective hands too. A kinda useless trick to freak people out. Makes thumbs up slapping dead easy anyway - even if does make you look like a bit of a freak. -

Don't go with onboard pre Pete - keep it passive - if you need a hand in the tone shaping or giving the output a helping hand, do it via an external preamp. The fact that it hasn't got a battery or any actives is what gives it the charm it has and it is very different from your MMs. The output from a passive is always likely to be a lot lower because you are used to the hefty MM pickup with running the MM pres on full boost! Yes, I probably would have gone for the Lakland, primarily for the neck profile (being closer to what Im used to) but I think the F was the correct choice in getting the traditional J bass down as to your plan - it ticks more of the boxes than the DJ does and there is something cool about having the F headstock and it being USA as opposed to the none USA Lakland. Now if the DJ was a 55-60, it may have been a different story! Enjoy it dude. -

Bass has been bought. Question is... What has he bought?? -
Eneloops are where it's at. Got a fleet of 24 AAs for all my wireless! Certainly cheaper than burning through non rechargeables. I recharge them every gig and every month let them run flat for a full recharge.
And I just picked up a second system. The transmitter will go on my backup bass and the receiver in my BassPod only rig that I use when I'm going to be sharing someone else's bass amp. Sorted!
Don't forget your batteries!

My best advice I have for anybody is this - Most musicians are self serving ass hats. Beware who you befriend.

Isn't it a bit naff that a system needs to be in a holder or have rubber bands around it? C'mon line 6, sort it out!

I know. Wish I'd bought it - second time I've played something, put it back whilst wondering whether I should or shouldn't only for somebody to pick it up straight after I've put it back and then take it straight to the till! :-/
