    Isn't the weak G string an internet myth that was set up by some MM hater/baiter. Haven't we had the same thing about - MarkBass, their heads are the business but their cabs are crap. (I actually think I know how that one started and it wasn't based on how they sounded...) What we do know however, is Ashdown do catch fire (and sound wooly, muffled etc...)

    I tried the Kemper units and wasn't sold that it could do a convincing low end on its profiling. It's fantastic with guitars but I would be interested in your results with the device for bass.

    If its a great player, have the tone pot on the bass looked at. Cant be that much wrong with it! Finding a great playing bass is key - although I do appreciate that it's a bit cack that things just don't work out as they should!

    I have 4x near mint condition (few scuffs on the corner protectors but nothing serious - everything else is perfect, no bubbling fur, nothing), special order [b]8 ohm[/b] 2x10 proline cabs from EBS. This enables you to have a highly versatile rig - with a 2ohm amp, such as the TD650, you can run 1, 2, 3 or 4 cab rig - an 8x10 without the back breaking weight. All of the cabs have been kept in a set of quality D2F covers that I had imported from the States - and additionally, I had velcro flaps put over the openings to the handles to keep the handles of the cabs mint too. The cabs really are like new. As for the corner protectors, I have brand new EBS corner protectors to make the cabs absolute mint. I have had these corners as spares but never used them because the original corners are still in great condition and are not anywhere scuffed enough to warrant changing yet. I shall include 8 spare corners with each cab. I haven't used these cabs in anger in nearly two years as I have gone the silent stage route and let the PA do all of the work. I also have a mint TD650 up for grabs but am unsure whether I want to let this go yet - but try me. Will split but would rather sell in units of 2. Looks the bomb on stage!

    Problem with all this loud sound stuff is that when you are asking exhibitors to pay such a lot of money to exhibit, they need to do their best in order to make their money back. Reducing the period in which sound can be made reduces the chances of somebody actually making a purchase - especially when everybody is at it full hog in that period. In short, there is no solution. There is no way that I would buy a bass based on what I'd heard through headphones.... likewise, I wouldn't buy an amp without hearing what it can do. Call me pessimistic, but maybe shows just aren't a great idea for retail and making noise. :-/

    I would say that the cabs have a more signature sound than the heads personally. I would never say they have huge bottom end due to their inbuilt HPF. Means you can get loud with audible frequencies with regard to the power sapping sub bass. If you want that, put your rig through a PA with some high-powered 18" subs. I like them because they are fairly flat response across the board - some people say too sterile... but I like having that blank canvas to work from. The cabs I would say are again, not tuned for mega bass extension but for usable audible frequencies with a hyped top end. Some people don't like the hyped top end - but you can always tame the top end. With a lot of cabs, you can't add the top end. With the character switch in, it gives you the typical scooped sound. An EBS cab with an EBS cab in that mode, probably gives you the sound that people associate with EBS - the instant RnB, Marcus Miller sound. Having said that, the EBS is far from a one trick pony - in fact, their marketing moved away from the RnB and funk side, to the rock and metal side. They are good all round amps... but like everything, try them and let your ears decide!

    Digital. Do it for the inbuilt 31band eq and effects and the multiple aux sends... My choices for 16 channel? QU16 for sure. Or if you have an iPad, try the Mackie DL1608.

In fact, you could borrow my whole pedal board and have a proper laugh on Mustang Sally :-p The reason you are running your bass so high is that on your stingray you are boosting the bass before it hits the genz pre. Being passive, to get the same amount of bass response from the jazz, you're gonna have to crank the amp. If you don't want that, it's defo a case of running another pre for the jazz in front of the genz pre.
