  1. Absolutely - I believe they taught Martin Sims a shed load about finishing. They also used to do all the finishing for Status before they took it in house. They do the finishing for a GB Guitars, Feline guitars and other independent luthiers. They do the finishing for a certain high brow hair brush company... I've know then do (a hell of a lot of) roulette wheels, harps, car dashboards, pianos, drums etc... I would say they are amongst the best and possibly most experienced polyester spray shop in the country. One of the guys there is a pretty handy luthier of acoustics. Their website certainly doesn't represent the standard of their work.

  3. Defo sounds interesting BigRedX - shall be interested in following your experience of the 745 - especially when you consider the backline that it has replaced. All makes for very interesting reading.
  4. Good stuff - what did it replace? Two big cabs wasn't it? How does it compare in terms of perceived size of rig behind you and volume?
  5. If you read back, I didn't dispute his credentials. I know who he is - and in fact, you'll see I even stated that he is the dog danglies.
  6. I couldn't take somebody that calls themselves the Wesernator seriously.... even if (which he is) the dogs danglies.
  7. Gonna struggle for decent new wireless at that price... but if you can find circa 100 more pounds, the psm300 with the premium receiver would be my bet - https://www.gak.co.uk/en/shure-psm300-p3tra-stereo-personal-monitor-system/111312?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIouH09rPr2QIV47ztCh2frghMEAQYByABEgJUwvD_BwE Just looking at the Sennheiser prices again... looks like they've gone up again... and when the G4 hits the shelf, I reckon another boost in price to bring it inline with the PSM900...
  8. Yes - although it's more entertaining to hijack mics instead.
  9. Forget your compressors... have you guys seen my tube screamer?
  10. Where are you guys finding room on your pedal boards for all these? And more to the point, what kind of venues are you playing that can accommodate such pedal boards? @tonyf - you must know more about venues that can take large pedal boards?
  11. No - not really! Mind you, it's never really been the hub of the music world has it?!
  12. The Paradise is in that never ending cycle of will we or won't we with bands isn't it? @stingrayPete1977? Certainly not one for a weekend anyway. I think they have been scarred with the Mottram games.
  13. Quick! everybody pile into the backroom of the George. But before you do, check out Ben's graffiti of the Queen... and Hendrix... isn't that right @stingrayPete1977?
  14. Isn't it about time that we posted something controversial up in a compressor thread....?
  15. Have you taught ladies plenty?
  16. I'd agree, was going to post earlier that I wasn't sure where else you'd save weight, it's pretty slimline as it is already... - I'm not a massive fan of 12inch subs - but I guess if you are running some decent compressors/limiters, they'll do a job.
  17. I think he was demonstrating the sort of maths that cab manufacturers use to derive their published specs.
  18. Depends if your gig bag is the size of a small truck.
  19. Looks great! Is it asbestos lined?
  20. Ive yet to find a compressor pedal that I like. The rack mount units (and plugins for that matter) seem to be a lot more effective. For bass, I think multiband compressors are a lot more useful.
  21. Step 1. Convince the gullible crew on an Internet forum.
  22. I'd highly recommend adding in the wood dust. It will make for a much better looking repair... and is easier to build up that lacquer (although never having worked with nitro, I can only speak in terms of poly). When lacquered, a block with wet and dry and through the grades and a polish will make for a very good looking repair.
