1. Hi all, I have for a possible sale or partx my aged 2007 Sandberg JJ 5, I bought it a couple of months back but have decided I'd rather have two basses for the price of one! After recently buying a 4 string bitsa Jazz from here I would like to get another 4 string Jazz, but lined fretless to accompany it. The bass is 35" scale, balances fine on a strap. The pickups are non standard giving more of a vintage vibe, however with the active/passive options the bass has a wide set of tones available. The tone control also works when in passive mode. I have the original tort pickguard that will come with the sale. Price wise I'd like £750 collected for it, new they are £1400 + extra for the hardcore aging. I will be loosing out a bit on the price it cost me so I'd rather not budge. I would however consider a partx for a 4 string lined fretless Jazz bass (what have you got? bitsa, fender, fender drone etc all considered) + cash my way to make up the difference. This bass has done the rounds on here and if you ask any of the other owners they will tell you how good it sounds! Any questions just PM me. The bass is available to try before you buy in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. PM'd!
4. Cheers folks, I've sent him the link to this thread to give him a bit of a hand!!
5. Hi folks, just wondering if anyone knows how to date a Musicman Sabre? A friend of mine has one but can't find any serial no. or anything like that (he hasn't yet taken the neck of or anything like that). He thinks it is late 70's or so but can't be sure, any heads up?
6. Another lovely example from Ash, I've bought and traded with Ash before and all was good, no worries at all
7. Ah, cheers for that EBS_freak, seems so simple when you know how!! Very nice bass by the way
8.
It is from the same bit of wood... but not the bit you think. Look for the single dark grain stripe with a broad light stripe either side followed by a group of more densely packed dark bands.
Fair enough, then how about THIS ONE? The grain does appear to match up very nicely. I might be thinking too much into it and the luthiers manage to find a matching piece from another lump of timber but sometimes I think the covers just match too well for that to happen!
9. Just been looking at THIS bass and was wondering how the routing is done for the control plate cavity. How do they avoid damaging the wood they use for it as it's looks to be from the same bit of wood as the body, impressive lutherie!
10. It was the 1/2" version, kindly been told what part to measure ! Anyhow it's now on hold!
11. Just realised it's in the wrong section, sorry. Please could someone with the power to move it do so please, apologies again, Jim.
12. Hi all, Bought this with mind of going back to 4 strings, however I seem to have found myself with a very nice Sandberg JJ5, hence me not needing this device! I would like £27.50 posted or £25 collected for it, it is in virtually brand new condition. Please check that it would fit your fender, it should fit J and P 4 strings from 2008 onwards (click HERE for more info). Any queries just PM me. Jim. Pics below;

Sold

Yeah, I agree that it's a more sought after wenge neck. You can tell by the colour of the grain, especially on the back of the headstock. Not sure when Warwick changed to using Ovankol for the neck wood but around '98 or just after. You shouldn't have any balance problems aswell due to that killer top horn!!
14. I've just got the bass I was after but I'm still on here looking. Since I joined I've been through at least 8 basses to get to this one, hopefully I'll just get a fretless version (Sandberg JJ5 aged somewhat!) at somepoint to accompany it then stop looking, therefore buying! It's just GAS is so compulsive it's hard to stop!!
15. I've bought off Ash before and had no problems at all, nice guy to deal with. I actually bought a black version of this bass and another time a 5 string groove bass! I can vouch for the necks being very nice, I have not so far in my experience played a neck as nice as the flat 'D' profile Status basses. I highly recommend them.
16. Just bought a Sandberg JJ5 off Chris, nice chap to deal with. Unfortunatley the logistics of the deal meant it was best if I sorted out a courier rather than collect the bass personally but Chris was very good regarding communication and facilitating the collection for the courier, it was also packaged well so no worries there. The bass was as described and plays very nicely, Ta very much!!
17. Just sold my Fender P5 to Gavin, very trusting and trustworthy, great comms and had a nice chat on the old blower aswell, would deal with him again without any worries, recommended basschatter!
18. If it hasn't gone already I'll take it thanks!
19. Pm'd again.
20. Yup, I can confirm that this bass is very good and easy to play. The build quality is very very good and better than a lot of basses I've owned. Shame I'm going back to 4 strings hey!
21. Very nice, have a bump on me!
22. I agree, close thread and start afresh. You live and learn! Hope you do sell it thought as on paper it looks good.
