1. i think you must have tried a dud. there is absolutely no low end lost on mine, no matter whether it's a straight to DI job with a 40K PA system, or just into my big Fender / Marshall rig, or even my little practice amp. Seriously it must have been a dud!
2. i'll be heading up there on monday, and then, if there is time off somewhere to try and find a bass big muff!
3. if they are the same as the ones on the p bass lyte, i managed to get a couple from Arbiter before they lost their distribution deal. perhaps a phone call to their customer support may be in order?
4. it does sound like it might be the switch. call ashdown, and see what they recommend - worst they can say is "no, bugger off", but that is quite unlikely!
5. i use the Boss fv500H - a great pedal - totally bombproof construction, a minimum setting to set it up for just boosting, no string in sight, and can also be used as an expression pedal (with a stereo lead). all this and retail price around the £70 mark!
6. don't morley do something like this? is it called the x-blender?
7. +1 to the comments about these guys, a great service at a fantastic price - what else to say!
8. i was hoping i might have found a case for my Dean ML, but alas not! good luck with the sale though!
9. for £20 it's worth a go. it'll do a few reasonable sounds, but avoid the attack switch, like the plague! - it'll make your bass sound cheap and nasty! IMO i found it most iuseful on he OD setting, although the clean boost is very useful. all in all, well worth a punt at that price!
10. nice ankles!!!!
11. if i'm with the classic rock / NWOBHM band, i'll take my two Dean metalmans, and possibly my machine gun, if i'm at church, it'll be my us P, with poss my Jap p lyte (depending on the age of the strings on the us), and with the alt / industrial band, it'll be a dean metalman, ibanez 5, and possibly a p lyte back up. i've rarely had breakage on stage, but if it's going to go, it's always at the wrong time! Since i'm a really heavy player, i need to have spares!
12. here's my updated board with a couple of changes.
13. i have to say that although ican play with a pick, i much prefer to use my fingers. in order to achieve that 'picky click' I use an EHX Steel leather. it does exactly the right eq adjustments to make it sound right. however, time practising with a pick will probably serve you better. If you are stubborn and really don't want to learn, the the EHX pedal will be your best bet.
14. i've used on one on bass. there is a big bass loss, as noted by Matty. I thought it would be quite similar to the DOD250, as i believe they have quite similar circuits, but they sound like two very diferent beasts. I know a lot of bassists use the 250 for light grit, but if you want light grit, get a cream pie!
15.
I'll probably lose a few friends over this, but why in heaven's name would you want to wear them?? That stuff looks really uncool, IMHO of course. The only thing I ever bought was a RUSH thong for my lady, as a joke, naturally. She can't stand RUSH so she's never worn it and thank god for that! I don't want to be thinking of Geddy Lee when I'm visiting that region ;-)
you could always change the R to a B!
16. i emailed him asking what the impedance was, but also got no reply!
17. blend / balance is indeed the pups. the controls on my P lyte are in a diamond shape, and can loosely be described using the points of a compass. It will look like two and two if you are wearing the bass, but if you look at it when not having it around your neck you should see what i mean!
18. a centre detente is the notch in the middle. as you look at the bass the north knob is Volume. east is blend / balance south is bass IIRC, and west is treble, again IIRC edit: if i am wrong about the treble and bass knobs, just reverse them!
19. TBH, i thought this thread going to have a Bad News theme!
20. they'll be volume, pickup blend/ balance, bass and treble ( both cut and boost) all except the volume have centre detentes. HTH
21. sorry dude, gotta let you down. My drummers are either skint or not looking for china/ splash type things! Sorry!
22. may be interested in the china splash. will have a word with my drummers and let you know
23. i managed to score one of these a little while ago. i have to say that i love it. It get sused to add a little hair to my Deans and does the job admirably! it is really so versatile that i think it will be hanging around for a good while yet! it punches so much above it's weight, that i believe it would sell even if the asking price were £99 rather than the meagre £59 rrp. A bargain - probably the best bang for buck drive pedal i have ever heard!
24. i have one too, and i get to use it out and about quits frequently. i haven't changed the strings onv it yet, but i get quite a reasonable tone from it as is. i tend to put it through my bass xciter, and sometimes an MXR m80, although ad 121 sounds like a pretty good idea!
