1. And here's the 1964 P in a family shot: First - CIJ 70s reissue. EMG pickups including an added J, volume/volume/tone controls and a Badass bridge. Its been heavily gigged over the years and has the battle scars to show for it. Second - The 1964 P, this time with the pickup ashtray off (so I can actually play it!) Third - CIJ '51 reissue with added Seymour Duncan quarter pounder. Currently strung with Chromes flats, and has an old school thump to die for!

Mark Bass
Hi, sorry my typo error, i think its before the jeff berlin model.
Ah! I was editing my post as you typed that! I was adding a para to say that the standard 151 combo is pretty much the same spec but with an added tweeter. If you're looking for a versatile combo you won't go far wrong.

Mark Bass

They're very nice! The full specs are here: http://www.markbass.it/product_detail.php?id=75 I gig with one. Its got a nice tone which is pretty neutral and doesn't colour the tone in any way. The Mark Bass filters are excellent and its plenty loud enough for small gigs. I add a 2x10 cab for larger venues and it copes fine. Ignore the Jeff Berlin signature bit - its a very versatile, giggable, and portable combo whether or not you're a fan of Mr Berlin!. The standard 151 is similar spec. The main difference is that the Jeff Berlin has the control panel on the front (rather than the top) and has no tweeter. So is probably worth looking at too - I got the Jeff Berlin as my local music shop had one in stock and offered a discount on it as ex-demo. Otherwise I probably would have got the standard 151.
4. Its now £720 with six days to go. He's going to get quite a bit more than the £800 BIN he had it up for!
5. Any chance you will split the parts? I'm looking for a loaded Jazz body, and this would be ideal!
6.
Thats a steal if its genuine
Looks genuine to me. Even down to the Ric cloth with the case candy - I doubt anyone would bother to fake that!. Not a common colour either.
7.
Erm, no actually, because here is the ugliest bass in the world!
That is absolutely beautiful!
8. Very easy and pleasant deal with Colin. A pleasure to deal with
9.
Not the original body I guess.
That would be my guess too. The body actually looks like walnut - very un-Fenderish. And the join between the top and the body is nothing to shout about.
10. My YOB bass - 1964 Precision
11. Bought a Jazz body from Paul. Good price, good comms, and well packaged. Thanks!
12. Thanks for the positive comments! It does look the part
13. I've actually just put this up for sale, so i guess i should post it in the Gibson porn thread while its still mine 1996 Les Paul. Lovely bass, with a huge tone.
14. Blimey - it went for under £450. I wish I'd seen it earlier!
15. Very nice. you can't beat a black Rickenbacker!
16. I don't know why I like these, but for some reason I do - lovely bass!
17. No, the body's not chambered (hence the weight!). Its full scale - 34". I've edited the first post to show that.
18.
Any interest in a swap for my immaculate 5 string les Paul bass? It's in the for sale section a few Places below this! Cheers
Nice bass, but I'm not really after a 5 string I'm afraid.
19. I've decided to sell my Les Paul to fund another purchase. I bought this at the Yorkshire Bass Bash earlier this year from Bass Gear. Its a 1996 model (according to the Gibson serial number decoder). The preamp is a factory fitted Bartolini preamp - volume, blend, treble boost/cut, and bass boost cut. This really does sound fantastic. You get the expected thick Gibson tone, but the active electronics bring some real versatility. Boost the treble, cut the bass, and you get a fizzing MM tone. Boost the bass, and you get a P type tone. But none of the muddiness you can get with Gibsons. In traditional Les Paul style the body is mahogany with a maple top. The photos don't do the top justice - it actually has some really nice birdseye type grain. The fretboard is ebony with pearloid inlays. Full scale (34"). It's not light - weighing in at about 10lbs on my bathroom scales. In mint condition, except for a few minor scratches on the back. And it comes with a fitted Gibson USA hard case with pink (yes pink!) fur lining. I paid £800 when I bought it from Bass Gear. I'm looking for £675 posted for a quick sale.
20.
'IN HIS OPINION AS AN OWNER OF MANY FENDERS IT IS GENUINE' P
In my opinion, he's wrong Decal is wrong and no serial number in any of the places there should be one
21.
Aren't they 16.5mm? That'd be tighter than a Ray.
17.5mm. The SR series is 16.5 I think. Not as wide as a four string admittedly.
22.
What will give me similar tones, in a five string with 4 string-esque spacing? Any offers?
Ibanez ATK 5 String. They have wide string spacing, and get as close to a Stingray tone as anything I've played (other than a Stingray!).
23. It depends what you mean by good value! The Seymour Duncan Ceramic is very nice, with a lively MM tone. If its within the budget, the Delano hybrids are fantastic. The active twin coil option gets very close to the classic MM tone, and the coil tap gives you the option of passive single coil Jazz type tone. I've got one in my Shuker IMO they are outstanding pickups. Not cheap though.
24.
I'm not sure but I thought the RW jazz was the same bass as the MIM classic 70s jazz except for the finish. Can anyone confirm if that's correct? Frank.
The MIM Classic has a hard poly finish. The road worn is a thinner nitro finish so supposedly gives more resonance. Not sure whether that's correct, but the road worns do play and feel amazing.
25.
http://tabs.ultimate...y_ver6_btab.htm Sounds good enough to me
That's pretty much what I play. Sounds right to me!
