1. Love it. I have a phenomenal Zon custom spalt maple f/t. Over £3K new...
2. Thanks for Ann & standard & series feedback. I guess I was being lazy to not search on the Alembic club! I have standard small body & series 1 small body Alembic basses already and a superfilter. Perhaps the series 2 is a step too far, though not as complex as some custom Alembic examples!! Useful and interesting to read. Thanks
3. How do anniversary electronics differ to standard electronics? And how do they compare with a Series 1?
4. Sorry - read 'giggable' for huggable - dreaded auto correct kicked in!
5. Oh, and it has a head and wood!! (ok its got a teeny amount of graphit too - but it is an awesome huggable bass - the new 'jazz' - equivalent perhaps of the new mini versus the old mini car?!
6. Hi, the only bass I would swap my Zon for is a KB artist! I have the best Zon Sonus 4 I have ever seen/played (which is why I bought it - from the UK dealer - Mansons) with an exquisite spalted maple top. It is the 4 string custom with upgraded pre-amp - mid with pull on it and black hardware… mint. Zon's are the US equivalent of Status really… i.e.. graphite neck, awesome woods & build quality & with sustain to 'die for'! Awesome bass… Joe Zon is a great guy just like Rob Green!
7. Kev Is this hellborg pre still available? Mark

9. With two mini48 cabs and two mini 15's my suggestion would be two simple heads. I use a Markbass F500 with my Ashdown mini48 & a vintage and ultra rare GK115LB cab. However, as correctly explained earlier you'd be down to 2 ohms, so, send a more 'trebly' sound thru one head (amp) to the pair of mini48's, then line out to another head - eg F500 and feed that output to the mini15's (best sited on bottom). Thereby you can tweak tone for 15's making them bass heavier. It is almost a biamp set-up of sorts! And akin, to Alembic F-1X or Alembic Series Bass stereo output... Perhaps it should be asked: do you need 4 cabs?, albeit ultra compact! Alternative definitely worth very serious consideration: MarkBass NY604 - astonishing capability way beyond the laws of physicals and expectations esp evident with a throbbing, fat jazz bass sound!!
10. Hi Kev, where are you based? I'd love to hear this. I tried one at the London bass show but it was impossible to assess with all the noise! Best rgds, Mark
11. Wish I needed two! Actually could use two for stereo output on a Series Alembic. This is an awesome pre! Great in crossover mode too. Incredible purity.
12. PS yeah the f-1x is only a preamp
13. I have several amps. Most are solid state. One is the Alembic F-1X. They are relatively cheap. Industrial spec. Very shallow depth. IU. Incredible sound. Just 1 tube. Strongly recommend! I like boogie but was v disappointed by a 400+ though I'm sure some love! We all have different tastes! That's a good thing
14. Hi, could you send me photos of this bass please? Thanks
15.
Neck stamp is the day I was born! and I love Tele basses! Not got the money though. Good luck
Ha - I was born 15 minutes too late on 24/10/72!!
16. Kay NEW £50 P-shape junior scale 1983 Same Same again (they kept having electronic faults so the shop kept giving me replacements!) Westone Thunder 1A - S/H - wow what a leap! (moderately awful to play looking back though) Hohner Jack - steinberger headless system £300 new - later sold for £120! Jaydee MK - classic £300 s/h in 1993. Astounding price. Cost the guy who bought it new £800 in '87. I only sold the MK (to my brother-in-law) as I found the string spacing too big... Compared to the next bass below... Alembic Stanley Clarke standard - quilted maple made '97 - bought s/h in 1999 Fender Jazz deluxe MK model Zon Sonus custom 4 - slanted maple S/h Alembic series 1 small body Bubinga 1981.
17. For sale: Gallien Krueger supplied:- Tripod, mounting bracket, with mounting 'ear' knurls... for the GK MB combo (12 inch speaker). I no longer have my GK MB150E combo and so the tripod and GK mounting kit is up for grabs. I loved it as it means you can place your combo in the corner of the room out of the way and as well as looking uber cool, allows you to project the sound at a higher level than off the floor... The tripod GK provided is a manfrotto stand - so excellent quality. Good used condition. £50 + shipping.
18. Hi guys, I no longer have my delicious GKMB150E combo and have a genuine GK supplied (via the then current UK 'disty' Beyerdynamic) Manfrotto tripod with amp mounting bracket and two amp mounting 'nuts'. Looking for £50 + shipping. The stand is great as it puts the combo at whatever height you want the sound to emit (within the limits of the height-range of the stand obviously!). Good used condition.
