  1. To the nearest decimal place that's 32" scale so bang on message @eude
  2. The solution to your dilemma There's one on here for sale.
  3. Only about 50 of these were made. Mine is going nowhere!
  4. NBD the Euro 4LE 1979 has landed. Here are the happy couple.
  5. I've not personally tried this variety, but all my basses with an on-board preamp have an East unit fitted (one exception of course) and they are universally excellent.
  6. For that style of bass I might consider one of the John East Stingray replacement preamps: https://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/mmsr.html They can be supplied without the plate for your type of arrangement.
  7. It's pre-loved about 12 years old I think.
  8. Could you advise on string spacing at the bridge and the weight please?
  9. Thanks Ped, I was just wondering whether my relatively short ownership of a 50-odd year old bass qaulifies
  10. Strings wise I have settle on relatively lightweight D'Addario nickels in 45/60/80/105 (bought as singles to get the tension I like) on the headless Border Reiver. Having tried D'Addario EXL160BTs (50/67/90/120) I found them to be a bit too heavy for me so the Finn P is now wearing black D'Addario ETB92M tapewounds (50/65/85/105). These are a standard issue medium scale set and work rather well. At some point I might well try a set of my normal use long scale D'Addario EXL170BTs as I reakon long scale strings on a 32" scale bass will work just fine. @AndyTravis you are welcome to come round to try them out as we are pretty close to each other, or I'll bring them down to you if you promise to make me a cup of tea
  11. Does owning a vintage P bass count as my contribution to the overall wear and tear will have been limited?
  12. So tempted to go since the first book I bought was one of the early 'value' items and I work about 50yrds down the road.
  13. Nice. Just acquired a Bacchus P bass.
  14. OK, was the '51 style pickup a split coil too as I thought they were single coils and that the noise issue was one of the motivations for the introduction of the split coil humbucking P type pickup.
  15. If we had two identical basses, but one had a '51 P bass type single coil pickup fitted and the other a single coil J bass type pickup fitted (in exactly the same location) how would the differ between the two basses?
  16. Now sold. Thanks for the interest.
  17. Yeah, I clocked this too. But if you do the research on selling prices and list according then it's normally OK.
  18. The last three or four basses I have sold have been on ebay. I have mostly got more for them than they were advertised on here even after fees. I just wait for the £1 selling fees offers to come around.

    Got wood?

Good man. I'll apply myself to the challenge presently.

    Got wood?

I suddenly feel like I need more toys
  21. Has anyone come across this luthier yet, I saw their stand at a recent guitar show at Haydock Park race course here in the northwest a week or so back. Unfortunately the stand was unmanned when I drfited past so didn't feel that I should pick one up for a noodle without somebody's say so. There is another Watson bass thread on here but it refers to a Scottish guy that re-located to California so I don't think it's the same person. https://www.watsonbasses.co.uk/
