  1. @Hellzero here are a couple of better pics of the Eve Iona. Not a proper through-neck bass as you can see:
  2. I have had these pickups in a P bass I was using for a while. Nice output and tone tbh. I have now returned the bass to stock and sold it so these are no longer needed. No idea who makes them but they seem well put together without the nasty sharp edges on the casings that some cheaper p/ups seem to have. The two wires were extended a little to fit better into the bass they were in, but there is plenty of wire for a more standard P bass so they could easily be removed if you find them offensive. £20 inc postage to UK mainland. Thanks for looking and here are some picks:
  3. Is your preamp subtly different to the one in the link as I can't see the Z mode micro switch and wonder what the 5-way switch does?
  4. These are great preamps. I have a 4-band Audere in my last remaining fretless ACG bass.
  5. Absolutely! I am always amazed by the reception and following that bands I have thought to be quite niche until you see them live. I had a very similar experience at a Lindisfarne gig some years back.
  6. I feel the need to challenge the assertion that the height of punk was 1982, maybe about 5 years earlier? The Damned released New Rose in late 1976 that is probs the first punk single to gain recognition and the movement exploded in 1977.
  7. It's actually an Eve Iona bass (another Scottish Luthier).
  8. I think this is the only pic I have of me gigging with a fretless bass (unlined ). From a few years back when I was in a blues band...
  9. NOW SOLD ELSEWHERE Up for sale is my fabulous Japanese Fender Precision Bass in beautiful 3-tone sunburst. The bass plays, looks and sounds wonderful and will be missed however arthritis is taking its toll so stuff is being sold off. The rosewood fingerboard is a lovely dark colour with beautiful figuring and has been regularly cleaned a treated with lemon oil to preserve its condition. The bass is In very good condition all round for a 38-year old instrument with just a little mojo in the form of a some light buckle rash and one or two minor dings (see pictures). The frets are in good condition and have recently been dressed. The dark Rosewood board has been oiled. The tuners all work smoothly and the electrics work perfectly with no noise, the pots having recently been treated with Servisol. The bass comes a good quality gig bag. I also have a pickup cover that came with the bass. All in all it’s a superb bass in the best colour combo with a full set up with plenty of life left in the frets. It weighs 3.9kg. As always collection or meet up is preferred, but I would consider a courier if necessary. If you have any questions please ask, or if you would like any more pictures.
  10. For sale is my Highway One (not to be confused with the Highway 1) Jazz bass. This series is the mid life upgrade of the Highway 1 series that include a nitro finish, BadAss II, ‘70s logo etc. The bass is in good condition with hardly any fret wear and the nitro finish has started to wear in and shine up a little on the back and the slanty bit where your forearm typically rubs. There is one mark on the lower side of the upper horn. It's approx 15mm long and has left a smooth but shallow indentation and I have priced the bass accordingly. Please see the pics. Spec: Body: Alder with satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish Neck: Maple, Modern "C" Shape, with Posiflex™ Graphite Neck Support Rods and satin Urethane finish Fingerboard: Rosewood, 9.5" radius (241mm) No. of Frets: 20 Medium Jumbo Frets with white dot position markers Pickups: 2 x Vintage-Style Single-Coil Jazz Bass Controls: Volume, volume, tone Bridge: Leo Quan Badass® II Bridge with 4 Pre-Grooved Saddles Machine Heads: Standard Hardware: Chrome Pickguard: 3-Ply Parchment ‘70s headstock logo The bass is in excellent condition and is currently sporting a high quality KiOgon tradition V/V/T jazz bass loom. I have the original Grease Bucket circuit that will be included in the sale along with a spare, and so far unused, BWB scratch plate that I acquired from Armstrong Music. This particular example weighs 4kgs (or 8lbs 13oz in old money) on my digital scales. The bass will come with a decent quality gig bag. I’d much prefer to meet up somewhere in person to exchange the bass, or deliver if it’s not too far. A courier would be a last resort. Here are some pics of the bass, if you'd like to see any more detail please just ask. Thanks for stopping by.
  11. We're doing a golf club in Preston. Two sets, the second one of them going across midnight so had to learn Auld Lang Syne. With the ongoing arthritis, it maybe my last one unless I can find some way of relieving it.
  12. Thanks @itu that's very helpful, I will check these out.
  13. Yes, definitely looking around for a short scale 4-string to try out.
  14. I am hanging on to a few basses just to keep trying, but interested to hear about these muscle hammers. Could you PM me a link please? I strongly suspect my issues are related to a lot of rugby and finger dislocations etc.

    Ash is a top banana.
  16. Ah, I must have misremembered. Apologies.
  17. I'm sure I saw a post from someone on here looking for one of these. @ash was it you?
  18. Possibly consider a lower order passive Jazz bass and stick a John East preamp in it?
  19. Hi folks, thanks for stopping by. For sale are these excellent Tom Brantley Geddy Lee jazz bass pickups. You can get them in from the US at $180US + postage + taxes + customs + VAT etc. that I calculate comes to around £225 all told. Alternatively you could just buy these and avoid the wait as they are currently out of stock Some info here on t'interweb: https://tombrantleyrewinds.com/newpickups/geddyleejazzbasspickups
  20. Pretty much what it says in the title good peeps of BC world. I believe this pickups come from the Fender US Mike Dirnt basses and are not generally available as accessories to purchase. You will notice that I have repaired the ground wire as I thought that the previous owner's effort was sub-standard. Price includes postage to UK mainland. Anyway pics below. Thanks for looking.

  21. Thanks Rich. I am going to cling on to a couple if nothing else just to make a bit of noise now and again. I am talking to a specialist about some treatment too, but not holding my breath on that part.
  22. Due to arthritis really starting to affect my hands I am selling off pretty much all my basses. It now falls to me to sell my Jet basses. Both the J and this one, the P bass, are really nice instruments with some really high-grade features for their price point. I have to say that the neck on this bass is an absolute delight to move around on. The full spec is below. The bass comes with a new Fender gig bag, and this one weighs a very playable 3.6kgs. The upgrades that I have made are as follows: · Full copper foil shielding · Good quality loom I’d say the colour is very similar to the Sherwood Green that Fender has. The bass is in very good condition having been used at home for practice and I will be immensely sad to see it go. The bass will come with the original split coil pickup fitted. This is a very nice ceramic pickup with a good strong output typical of their type. Specifications: Hardware: Chrome, Vintage-style Neck: Canadian roasted maple Shape: Modern C Fretboard: Rosewood Radius: 12″ Nut Width: 42mm (1.7″) Nut: Bone Truss rod: Double action String Scale: 34″ Number of frets: 20 Body: Roasted Poplar Pickup: 1x split coil Pickguard: Red tortoise Controls: 1 volume, 1 Tone Strings: D’Addario As ever collection or meet up is preferred, but I have packaging and can ship to the UK only. If you want any more information or pictures, please just ask. Thanks for stopping by.
