  1. Not certain that I'd classify some of the above as rock bands tbh. Love The Tubes - saw them in 70s in Southampton.
  2. Just acquired a lovely bass from Martin. Great transaction and comms. Highly recommended.
  3. Nothing in the immediate future (having recently picked up a fretless 5er).
  4. For sentimental reasons my first 'proper' bass one of the original Spector Legends (serial no. 8854): From 'just a great bass' POV, this ACG fretless was awesome. I would buy both back in a second and have actually tried to track them down but to no avail.
  5. A P bass harness with CTS pots. The wiring may need a little tidy up but in full working order. £15 posted UK mainland Pics:
  6. What it says in the title really. This was bought as a pre 'roadworn' part and never used. £10 posted UK mainland
  7. Hi folks A very well regarded Wizard Thumper P bass pickup for sale. Clearly has been used but in good condition and in full working order with plenty of wire left. £65 posted UK mainland - SOLD ELSEWHERE Here are a few pics, let me know if you have any questions.
  8. I thought this might be the case, but I can't see anything on the bass indicating this so I left it off the listing.
  9. Hi folks, for sale and/or potential trade is my Yamaha Attitude Special; originally Surf Green refinished in Lava Red. I am genuinely in two minds about this so I may withdraw this at any moment. I am the second owner of this bass from new. The original owner bought it new, originally Sea Foam Green, and had it re-finished in a colour close to Lave Red which was one of the options for the full-fat Attitudes. It was not a pro job and with the various scuffs acquired over the years, the original finish does show through in a couple of places. The bass itself still plays and sounds great and has original hardware and electronics except the for the strap lock buttons. The bass will come with a gig bag. The neck is fairly slim with a 40mm nut, slightly bigger than a vintage style Jazz Bass but not as big as a traditional P. It's very slick in the hands; the finish on the back of the 12" radius neck is nicely worn in and very easy to get around on. The fret condition is fine with only light wear. The neck is straight and the truss rod works fine. The body is light and lively but still well balanced against the neck. The pickup combo and electronics is fairly unique: You get a standard P pickup with its own volume knob but no tone knob, as well as the signature big passive humbucker in the neck. This has a separate volume and a tone control. Basically, you can start off with a juicy, growling P-style tone, then use the neck pickup to dial in a whole world of extra fatness and low-end heft. There is a sticker on the bass that Mr Sheehan had on his bass that I also believe is no longer available. The specs are: · Alder body · Split single coil and passive humbucker. · Maple, 1-piece Neck 34" scale, 12" radius · Finish - Lava Red (was Surf Green) · Body - Alder body · Fretboard - Maple · Weight - 4.0kg (8.75lbs) · Nut width - 40mm · Pickups & electronics – All original Looking at recent sales, the relative scarcity of these basses and bearing in mind the re-fin, I think that a fair price is £600 now reduced to £550. In order that you can see and hear what you're buying I would much prefer collection or to meet up and hand over in person if at all possible, but shipping may be an option and would be for you to organise.
  10. Just completed a very easy and efficient transaction with Tom. Fast payment, great comms and a very nice person to deal with, thank you very much.
  11. Yes, that is quite upsetting. What is it called (just so I can more easily avoid)?
  12. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  13. Just sold some straplocks to the lovely Mr Roadkill. Dead easy transaction (do you see what I did there), great comms, swift payment and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks again.
  14. SOLD ELSEWHERE A lightly used set of Chromes that spent a short amount of time on a Fender P bass. I think that these may be the ECB82 50-105 set but I don't have anything to measure and confirm. The best part of £70 new these days so grab a bargain!
  15. Beautiful, my favourite Spector right there.
  16. I fear it may be worse than that.
  17. The thought never crossed my mind...
  18. Folks, some sad news today. I visited our very own @ash this afternoon for our annual P bass exchange and to my horror it would appear that ash is down to his last 3 P basses. This is very worrying indeed and I have offered a much emotional support as I can. In order not to aggravate ash's condition could I ask for a short moratorium on posting any pics of P basses or indeed any listing of P basses for sale. It's a difficult time for ash and I'm sure the BC community will support. Thank you.
  19. The annual P bass exchange has taken place with the ever helpful ash; both black, both born within 12 months of each other and both of Japanese Squier extraction. Why bother you may well ask, it's a fair point actually. The usual excellent experience, thank you. Great to catch up as always with a top BCer. Ash kindly added his moniker to my "Lee Sklar" bass in the form of an excellent cartoon. Who knew this was his thing in a former life.
  20. And sold. Thanks for the massive interest peeps.
  21. Welcome OOG. Just a heads-up, bass pictures are all but mandatory here
  22. 1983 Squier 57RI Precison bass JV67XXX If you can’t afford an original early Fender Precision bass, how about this one? It’s a gorgeous 1983 JV serial numbered Squier Precision Bass, made in Japan to the specs/blueprint of pre-CBS Fender. The bass has the classic reverse tuners with the small rivet holding the elephant ear, a bridge with threaded saddles and cloth-covered wiring. The pickups have the raised pole pieces under the A string and that I think makes it a 57RI bass. That having been said, the neck is lovely, quite shallow with a vintage feel without the width and ‘clubbiness’ of the 50s P basses. The nut width is 43mm. The bass weighs in at 8lbs 6oz by my digital scales (3.8kgs in modern speak) so nice and light for those long gigs. The bass is equipped with a clean, maple board, vintage frets and a nice low action. The truss rod has plenty of play. The bass comes with the extra BWB pickguard for that classic black/black/maple look. The original white pickguard is of course included. I believe everything on the bass to be original. The bass has a couple of small scars that I have tried to photograph and that give it that 40-year old natural mojo. This really is a lovely vintage-quality collectible bass for not much money. Sorry no trades. The bass comes with a hardcase that is also a little roadworn but functional and will protect the instrument. I've tried to capture the dings, but the light scratches on the back elude me. Gloss back is tricky to photograph. Pickup is definitely preferred but I will also be happy to meet half way (within reason). Last resort would be a courier. Here are a few pics. Let me know if you want any more detail on anything, or indeed if you have any questions. Thanks for looking in. #
