1. Thanks for all the replies guys. I checked out everything, and nothing fitted any better than the warlock bag I already had, so I ended up going the custom route. It was expensive , but I think well worth it as it arrived yesterday. I bought from Glenn Cronkhite in the US, and had it imported. Took about 7-8 weeks from me posting a tracing of my bass to receiiving the finished product, but what I have is a fully handmade, leather, totally custom fitted case that is a comfy carry and doesnt ride too high over my head (I can now walk down the tunnels at London Bridge Station, and get on and off of trains without a full dismount, remount and juggle all my other gear scenario!) I'll post some pictures in the next couple of days for reference, but wanted to say thanks for the suggestions, and thought I'd splash Glenns name about here as the workmanship really is top notch. Anyway, pics to follow in a couple of days! Edit: just realised I should probably have posted this in the accessories forum! woops! sorry!!
2. Havent tried the memory boy but have the memory man with hazarai. Love the looper and reverse delay and like building noise with infiniye repeats. I love the weirdness you can get out of delays, especilly with a distortion or fuzz. Cant hep with the comparison though man, sorry. Great vlue pedal though in my book based soley what i know and have heard about it! Enjoy!!
3. Thought about the vt bass, or deluxe? Old school, tubey and a variety of tones packed in there. Totally different to the sansamp. No experience of the m80 im afraid, but thought id throw in another option.
4. Ive been looking at these , although havent managed to try one. Can you achieve similar results with a looper on a really short loop? Might have to try one out.
5. Conversely i just picked up the vt bass deluxe and iove it! Great that tech21 are round these parts now! Thanks for the gret work guys! Try em both, see what floats your boat, and in a band contxt as wel.
Oh wow, hello tech21! Good to have another manufacturer on the forum To philipleonard I've only got experience with the BDDI but it's a really good pedal, you can get some fantastic tones out of it
6. Vt deluxe has a di, and is designed 2 banks of 3 presets for different instruments, with inputs for both. Different tones between the units though. Check u tub. :-)
7. Early, hungover monday morning bump! Offers welcome!
8. Yup, gonna miss this when it goes great pedal, but cant keep it at the moment.
9. Price Drop, looking for around £130..... any interest?
10. lovely 2 stage valve overdrive pedal from DHA. SOLD. Never gigged it, only used a couple of times in rehearsal and in pristine condition. Includes the regulated power adaptor sent with it. I've only had it since March 2010, so still under warranty - see pics. I'm happy to post, or meet in/around london - Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Waterloo, Richmond. Any questions, please drop me a line. Cheers Bit of blurb about it below: The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std from DHA is a hand built valve pre-amp/Overdrive effects pedal which uses 2 12AX7 (ECC83) preamp valves to provide true valve tone, the tone generated has to be heard to be believed! The VT2-Twin-EQ-Std is suited to guitar and bass players looking for subtle clean to over the top overdrive valve tone for all types of music. This is a true twin channel pre-amp with a 3 band active EQ per channel plus an XLR balanced DI out. There are 2 seperate channels, red and blue. The Blue channel provides clean to crunch tones and the Red channel is clean to insane overdrive. The two 12AX7EH valves stick out the top of the pedal and one has a green backlight to show when the effect is on and the other has a red or blue backlight to show which channel is selected. The Blue channel has Gain, Level, Treble, Mid and Bass controls. The amount of clean boost is adjustable with a pre-set inside the pedal. The EQ is active and provides a 15dB cut and boost in each band. The Red channel has Gain, Overdrive, Level, Treble, Mid and Bass controls. The amount of clean boost is adjustable with a pre-set inside the pedal. The EQ is active and provides a 15dB cut and boost in each band.
11. Thanks very much, thats what i thought, i just couldnt find anything to confirm my suspiscions!
12. Great thread, but a question i have in respect to the whole premp and power amp sections of a combined all in one amp, is as follows : I understand that the preamp takes a signal and boosts and shapes it accordingly. If you then, crank the preamp section and various boost and gain pedals, will the power amp section reach full power sooner? Or is there a cap that the preamp maxes the signal out at before it flows to the power amp? Ive been thinking about this lately and cant find the info i want. When i crank the pre amp at home, a click or two on the power amp has a hell of a lot of gusto. Back off the gain and i then push the power amp harder to achieve the same levels. It makes sense. I just wanted to clarify whether the amp reached full power well before its designed to if the preamp is cranked. Sorry if this seems rather dense, thought it was the thread to post in though!
13. I use a dha vt 2 std for added beef and grit. Chuck it in before my blow torch and get some massive tones! Goes from a light fat grit to quite a gnarly overdrive. Its two stage a true bypass. Only drawbaack i guess is size (quite large) and mains power. Its lso a preamp/ di. Im Also waiting rrival of a turbo rat to see what that does!
14. Thanks, I've dropped them a line to find out. I'm not holding my breath as standard all seem a bit on the short side, and I dont really want to squeeze it into something. Happier to pay a bit more and get something spot on. Just for info, I'm currently getting quotes from the following: - Mooradian (US based): they have a dealer in Holland - Bass Matters - for their standard bags. If standard doesnt cut it, they can do custom. - Glenn Cronkhite (US Based): pretty high end custom and hand made cases leather or fabric. - Porta Bag (UK Based, nr Manchester): Custom made bags to specification. I'd prefer to stay with a UK company, and had a good chat with Porta Bag - not sure if anyone has come across them previously? However, Glenn's stuff looks really good quality and pretty retro, just doesnt fit my needs with the amount of storage that I'd like. I'll let you know how I go!
15. hi! so ive got a custom bass that measures 50.4 inches top to bottom. Its a thunderbird 5 string, but fits comfortably in my standard ritter bag bar 2 or so inches that pokes out the top of the bag. I have a rokbag that fits a warlok currently, so its oversized and cumbersome. Id like something more streamlined, long, and with pockets to house a shuttle, but after searching have found nothing. I emailed gigskinz but had no reply on dimensions. Any suggestions are welcome......please!! Can anyone recommend a custom gig bag shop?? I think this is the route that would best suit me!! Thanks in anticipation!....
16. I use a shuttle 9 with a Compact - its an absolute cracker. The Genz gear works well with the barefuced stuff. Not sure how much a used 9 goes for - the 6's are also pretty good, just voiced a little diferenty. Going to pick up a Midget in the near future to finish the stack - and will be silly loud!
17. Just finished assembling my lightweight rig, and I’m absolutely loving it! Set up now is: Feline Bass (5 string) --- DHA VT2-twin-eq-std --- Genz Benz Shuttle 9 --- Barefaced Compact I’ve had the components for home playing for a while, and my first proper test was the weekend just gone, managing to get a rehearsal (finally) in with my “band”. I’d managed to dial in so many good tones at home on my own, i couldn’t wait to get it out. The first test was whether I could actually carry it down the road (admittedly only 1,000 yards to the train station – then another 200 yards the other end). Pretty easy – cab in one hand, guitar on my back, bag of pedals and cables in the other. I arrived early and set up with the drummer (guitarist was as usual late!) and let rip – this set packs one hell of a wallop. I EQ’d a little on the Genz, added the Extra low pre set to find my sweet spot, and it was tonal Nirvana! This is one hell of an amp in an almost ridiculously small package. I love the tone variety and the wallop it can hit you with. Throwing in the DHA VT2 to provide some overdrive and fuzz when needed, and the versatility in tone was staggering! Really tubey and aggressive. I love the two tube stages – the first adding a little more bite than the Genz can conjure, the second taking it to a heavy overdrive/fuzz. The compact just seems to throw out bass – literally trouser flapping!! The low B is the best I’ve ever heard it – articulate, fat, didn’t fade quickly, sounded equal in level to every other sting on the instrument. When the guitar was eventually brought into the mix, it cut through easily, and kicked the arse out of a Marshall 412 – we’re a pretty loud band, and the guitarist resigned himself to running another amp in stereo to try and boost enough to get our mix right. I know loudness isn’t what it’s all about, but running a single 15 in such a light weight rig, as well as more than achieving my tonal goals whilst being stupidly loud put the biggest smile on my face!! What i thought sounded pretty good at home, just came to life in a rehearsal room in a live context. I can’t wait till next time, and to get it out gigging!! I’m so pleased with each element of this rig, the tone, finish (The pedal and cab are extremely well built, and aesthetically i love their appearance) and the customer service I received from Alex and Dave, I just thought I’d share.
18.
Sansamp VT bass. You might want to wait for the newer version to come out.
Hi Is there any more info out on this yet or a release date? The concept is exactly what I'm looking for. Google and tech 21 website doesn't appear to be doing me any favours!
