4.
It's been about a year since I last saw this, basically a kid in his bedroom out playing Flea on his own bass and song. I'm sure most have already seen it but it's worth bringing back.
solid playing.. also great recording !
 5.
hi, having done some research including checking out this site i have found positive reviews in genz benz shuttle 9.0, ebs hd350 and a number of mark bass amps. any advise on narrowing down my search. also if i buy a decent amp i can afford one cab, 4x10, 2x12 1x15 or the mb ny408. i will be in a position to add at a later date but what would be good to start with. this will be my first purchase and i want it to last me a long time. i play blues/rock music with a g&l 2500. upped my budget to £15-1800. any advise or other suggestions would be welcome thanks jon
maybe try one of these perhaps (for a stand-alone).. 10. hey, i need to know this too.. is a mini jack to a soundcard a reliable transfer as far as recording goes ? not sure myself, just doesn't seem substantial for good audio transfer.somebody with better knowledge than i needs to clarify...pleeease..

 13.
Im only average at the best of times alothugh i get the job done. With my main band (both bands playing covers) my drummer is so slack (well, the whorl band is really) and in a world of his own i got so bad recently i almost gave up playing. He doesn't really get the lock in together bit, has no stamina so tempos are all over the place and while i try and lock in with his bass drum the rhythm can change mid verse so i dont really stand a chance.
you're not by any chance the bass player for the libertines are you ?
 14. err..spending too much time on forums...?
 15. fat, trad, and a peacemaker.. [
 16.
- I realise the sound isn't so good on this clip - but it's an example of how Bass and Drums are locking together. This is ma ole matey Pin and the guys from SikTh doing an instrumental version of one of their tracks for ACM. James' style and tone on Bass is inspiring for many!
tight as !
 17. all my bass gear stolen from work warehouse (and unnofficial practise room) 10 years ago. it stopped me playing for a long time. (thank the lord. i hear you cry..) the twats i was working for were responsible (i found out later) but inspires me to piss people off with even more aggression and noise these days. x incidentally it was anger that got me into music in the first place..
 18. whilst we're on this subject... i predict a resurgence of slap/funk/grunge stuff soon.. it's only ever a matter of weeks before pop goes full-circle.
 19.
MXR Blowtorch, runs on 18V, has lots of knobs for lots of different fuzzy sound, great if you are after that sound but I found out I am not, so I am selling it on. Works fine and comes in its original box. £55 is what I paid and what I want for it, P&P included. Thanks.
great pedal. absolute bargain. particularly good for active basses. i'd buy it if i didn't have one.
 20.
One misconception about slap is that it needs to be done aggresively, in the way Flea does it, but this is really the exception and not the rule - a light touch and small hand movements are the key to getting a full sound from each note and creating a flowing groove - plus if you study Marcus Millet or Victor Wooten's technique you'll see how they use economy of motion to play faster ideas. A low action and light-ish strings will really help you play with greater control. Mike
in answer to this one, well, o.k. as intricate technique goes, but what's wrong with out and out aggression ? i grew up listening to bands that slaughtered their instruments (drums/guitars/keyboards/whatever) there is no right or wrong. (even japanese/black/white/pink-with-yellowspots/gurls/guys in dresses, etc..) music is personal. keep it that way !!! (it's the only thing that separates us from the.....?) slap to your hearts content. with fx, distortion, whatever. do not under any circumstances, restrict yourself.
 21.
Slap is difficult to master. Take it very slowly.
herein lies the debate.. to my mind there is no 'master' and hence, nothing to master. the bass guitar is still nobodys' bitch.
 22. there is a lot of snobbery directed at different styles of slap-playing. stick to learning those players you like, and incorporate that into your own syle/sound/fx/whatever. different strokes etc..
 23.
I've got a trimod phaser and it certainly doesnt drop in volume - totally different effect though. I'd get in touch with SA, they are really cool wrt customer service IME.
+1 , Will Cady is itswac on here, i believe..might be worth a PM.
 24.
I usually don't understand what people see in hardcore / sludge etc... but i just can't stop listening to kylesa. i find the use of dual drummers and the vocals mesmerising.
oh yes. me like a lot. thanks for that.
