  1. Looks absolutely stunning. Always love the look of these modern iterations, burny/esp, indie, retrovibe etc I get all the spiel about protecting his brand and all that but an import ric would sell like crack. I guess he just doesn't like money! And cue the flames
  2. Turned out pretty good for free hand, but I will clean up the curves and add the bevel on the spindle sander next time I visit my folks Also the placeholder cheapo pickups I had in my spares box are total junk..
  3. Neolithics were total hacks
  4. Music is music, as long as you don't drop words without their respective pass
  5. Been looking for this! If it's not gone by end of the month (pay day) I'll happily relieve you of it 😁
  6. Both routes done and pickguard drawn on tracing paper, going to attempt cutting it with a Dremel 😱
  7. First pickup route done, just needs a bit of tweaking. Just used a drill and chisel for this as it's a simple shape for the soapbar
  8. Now selling as a husk without the pickups - £150
  9. Bridge fitted, still haven't found an emg for the right price
  10. Is there any scope for you to steer the sound? As a spotty teen I was roped into an indie band and ended up pushing us towards a more groove oriented sound which really pushed us forward (I was kicked out a year later and replaced by a guitarist who was given a bass) 😂
  11. Nope just leaving it as is, headstock will be gloss black
  12. Neck fit check, nice and snug
  13. A few coats of poly lacquer! On the lookout for an emg soapbar/mm/tb pickup 🤔
  14. Not as dramatic but I'm happy with the contrast 👍
  15. Neck pocket cut, mixture of plunge router and chisel for the details. Headstock also shaped with a rasp
  16. Always up for some jolly cooperation
  17. Played a wedding at a stunning venue, first outing of my latest bass that was kindly built for me by a colleague who builds furniture in his spare time (any resemblance to other basses is purely coincidental or a result of a series of router slips)
  18. Im hoping the different density of mahogany Vs pine will give it that!
  19. Lately I've found myself re-interested in woodwork after taking a long break, which came just at the right time as I picked up a botched/abandoned sg guitar project off eBay for peanuts. The plan - route a central channel to get rid of the off centre neck pocket and pickup route, fill with a strip of pine, re route for a 30" neck and new pickups/bridge. Finally to stain red in the classic style.
  20. It's worth mentioning that the nature of social media algorithms and confirmation bias that nowadays everyone believes their views are the correct ones (yes, even yours! 😲) Platforms are designed this way to maintain your attention to drive clicks/engagement/ad revenue. Everything must be boiled down to a binary choice (hence not partaking in discussion lumps you in with whatever side)
  21. It's perfectly normal to have a few butterflies, it just means you care! It sounds like a wonderful endeavour what you are doing so I would expect the audience to be in good spirits and supportive - go out there and make the most of it! Or answer b - Guinness
  22. I'm hoping that this community will refrain from judgement and support my bravery for openly admitting that one of my bandmates likes Coldplay
  23. Thank you! I'll have a go
