1. Tried and never got on with the 4 string but this looks and sounds nice so I'm sure many people will dig this. Just not for me BSB
2. IF you can find a decent Lakland 5 string under £500 . . . . please let me know but ive very rarely seen a single Lakland under £500 not saying its not possible though BSB
3.
Why thank you sir
It's just one of them: i just don't know why "they" haven't made a Tele bass before. The 51' is a beautiful bass, i wont deny that with owned one but its a Pbass, the closest then is either the Modern Player of the Custom Shop "Lotto" bass but for the same reasons. The next being the Squier Teles but both short scale and one supports a 'baritone' (long scale guitar/short scale 6 string bass) tone feature 0_o although the one with the humbucker/Jazz would be a nice one to own, if full scale Totally going to dig this bass when its done. Subscribed (Y) BSB
4. For a moment I thought you had the SWR Marcus Miller EQ Rack Nice Gibson though. May look into one of these some day soon when I retire my TBird BSB
5. PHWOAR!!! <3
6. I have the SD J's in my Gibson Krist Novoselic and although they're pretty good, I think if they where active they would really be something BSB
7. Wow, already looking funky, can't wait to see the final piece BSB
8. I'm a Seymour Duncan man at heart so I'd prob shop there but I know my friend who plays fretless swears by these in his many fretless collection www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Lindy_Fralin.html Also, check YouTube, now and then you come across the odd video demonstrating bass pickups. I wish i could assist you further but I'm sure someone could explain a better pickup for you. BSB
9. Personally, I'd dodge this at all costs. If its not something now, something will creep up later. I wouldn't be surprised if the tension finally takes the repair off. For the price, as mentioned. You could get something just as good of eBay or just save that little more and buy it new? All the best and don't forget to try before you buy, BSB
10. I think it could just be a matter of turning your music and amplifier up until you can invest in better equipment- not saying megabucks but there's always room for improvement reg equipment Digging your style and playing, BSB
11. that's amazing and a great piece of history for people like ourselves. I just can't get over how good it looks for its age. Good find Bubinga5 BSB
12. I'd say yamaha are pretty decent for what your after and how versatile they can be: mixture of P and J why not? Musicman Sub (inc Sterling by musicman) and the Ibanez ATK are well made instruments and have a decent sound quality but sound similar and not so versatile as other 5 stringers. Now, I've never tried these but heard they're very good and a bit more of a push for £550. A bit of a selective taste for looks too but I think you'll be bagging a good bargain (especially with what's included) www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Brute_JJX5_Black.html Hope your find something you like but my motto is to always try before you buy BSB
13. I believe Squier brought out these VM basses as a purpose to buy Fender Artist without having to pay the full whack. There was the 77' based roughly on the Geddy Lee, 70's on the Marcus Miller and the VM Fretless as the Jaco Pastorious. The only difference with the Squier 77 and the one posted on the Rushbacks site is the stickers. I've just bought this bass myself, a real good bass. I got mine for £130 from my local so shop around BSB
14.
looks like it's the "normal" Squier Vintage Modified '77 or whatever it's called, with additional stickers/decals.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
15.
He's dead now.
My condolences be with you, my good sir BSB
16.
http://basschat.co.u...ge__hl__obscure
Thank you Mr Jack, made a good read and a lot of questions answered. If i'm honest, i'm more interested in the Bass Centre, Bass Collection as something i'd invest in just on the basis of "familiar" designs and expectancies, although i know many of players have used and spoke a lot about the SGC Nanyo instruments, both seem alright for the price. BSB
17. I've never used one or really had any use. Personally i think they can ruin the looks of any guitar they're on but at the same time can be comfy to play with. I'd love to try the Ibanez Gary Willis Sig for this feat but nothing i'll be investing in any time soon. BSB
18.
They certainly looked nice at the bass show today. Power has passive EMG type pickups, Detroit just states passive pickups, so that`s probably where both the power, and the difference come in.
Thank you good sir, take it you had a splendid day?
19. Maybe "Power" and "Detroit" could refer to different time periods of precision bass, i.e 70's and 80's?? I wouldn't know but good guess BSB
20. Hey guys, Just been checking up on the old Bass Centre: with them not stocking so much online anymore, I don't tend to look so often. My first question is, would i be right to believe Bass Centre commissioned these basses from the start or was there been a company before or did they just adopt the logo? I'm quite fascinated in Bass collection, I think it was early last year or later BGM reviewed two models, the Jive (Jazz) and Power (Precision) basses and they seemed to have a good reaction. "Best bass under £300" I believe the quote was, which seemed to be a good price mark between Fender MIM and Squier. Has anyone tried any of these basses, new or old? (Inc Speakeasy models) They have the P and J copies but also noticed a Ricki copy too, do they actually feel and sound anything like the origional artifacts? I'll be pleased to hear some opinions BSB
21. wish i had the funds, have a bump from me BSB
22. lovely looking bass and specs to match but i dare not see the price tag 0_0 BSB
23. Artist basses from Fender but I've heard a lot of praise from the Matt Freeman Squier Pbass and the Nate Mendel Fender Pbass. I'll always recommend trying before you buy as you want the bass for you rather than what everyone says BSB
24. Sold and gone
