  1. Played this very bass at MBL. Very nice!
  2. How much do they go for skelf? Also are they smooth as described above or gapped like roto's?
  3. the price mainly and i felt that they felt a bit 'slack'
  4. ah cheers for that. Fairly new to flats having so far tried Roto's, TI's and picatto's. The main thing i didnt like about the picattos was their complete smoothness. Have considered the status halfwounds but think i do want that full on flats tone. Roto's it is then i think
  5. Very Quick question... Can anyone tell me if these are smooth flats as per Picattos or do they still have a reasonable 'gap' in the windings as per Roto flats?
  6. Sorry to bump an old thread for a second time....Recently fitted mytelebass with DR Fatbeams, likes i used to use back in the day - however, i still have flats on my p-bass and really wondered how the tele would sound with a set. I expect full on wollyness but surely with the tone control and a bit of EQing i could get away with a set? Anyone tried a set of roto flats on?
  7. Had a couple of Kiogons kits including a special 'mini pot' one he knocked up for a particularly small routed P. Great bits of kit and always happy with them in my project P's
  8. Cheers for the nod towards my for sale gear guys. It is a great set up and id consider offers for the full rig. Unfortunately ive never shipped anything so big/heavey/delicate and my reluctance to is probably costing me a sale. Back OT, id wanted a valve rig for ages and was not disappointed when i finally got one. The whole sound is just amazing, its warm and fuzzy and perfect for what i wanted. Unfortunately the lanlord at the Royal Oak dosent agree and as such im down sizing. Ill never beat the sound ive had with the SC unless i go all valve again one day - so id say if you can bag a local all valve amp then go for it, you wont be disappointed!
  9. Would make good looking wardrobe for a small person
  10. Considering an offer via gumtree of £120 but delivered to Sheffield. Any advances?
  11. BUMP taking up studio space and encroaching on the guitarists corner. Seriously, any cash offers considered - need it gone
  12. Got mine today in a great deal from Thomann. Opened it up and mine has a JJAX7 in the main position then a no-name chinese AX7B behind the UV Metre. Ive ordered a Brimar AX7 that ill pit in instead of the JJ and a Brimar 12AT7 to switch in place of the chinese. Hopefully this will give a bit of breakup but not too much fuzz. If it dosent overdrive slightly ill replace the AT7 with the JJ AX7 it came with. This sound ok?
  13. I just got Bassdoc on here to make me a WBW one. Sent him the original black off my tele and he sent me an exact match within a week. Dont know if he does the particular colour youre after but drop him a PM and see. Had about 4 guards off him now for various basses and all are excellent replacement fits
  14. PM's replied to. Need this gone so offers still considered
  15. Im almost certain it is 70's. Ill drop Thornybank a pm. I got it from him so he may be more clued up than i am. Delivery to huddersfield could be do-able for the right deal
  16. Not fully certain. I can get the serial number next week when im in the studio and have a look online to see if i can see owt arounf
  17. First offer of over £120 gets it
  18. What sort of settings are you using for the SVT kind of sound?
  19. Seems changing the valves in these is what most people have done. Ive read some varying stories of whats in there as stock. Some say they opened up to find 2 x ax7's and some say an ax7 and an another that slips my mind at this ungodly hour. What did you drop in it out of interest?
  20. Seems the difference (other than obvious power) is the power stage of the 330 is the same as the old MAG series whereas the 550 is from an AMB 500. Id like to really crank the 330 but last time i played loud in there the sales staff all looked at me like id walked into their house on xmas day and pissed on their turkey
  21. Went to my local PMT today to have a noodle on the Modern Player tele they have in there (loving tele's since getting my Squier!). Anyway, normally they have a lovely Ampeg BA300 SP combo to try their gear out with but today they had an Ashdown 4x10 (not sure if new style MAG or ABM) and the 330 head - the Spyder 550's little bro. I was very impressed with it to say the least. Obviously didnt crank it so not sure if it could handle my two guitarists and drummer who plays with hammers - but it did sound very sweet. I know there are a few 550 owners on here but anyone regularly use/gig the little un? Im working on selling my current rig and already have replacements lined up but the 330 could be something for a little fun and maybe gig, if it has the balls.
  22. Its the Squier VM tele bass. Its not the string lengths that are the problem its just the bullet ends on the strings wont fit (well E string anyway into the ferrules). Ive since read that DR's seem to fit ok so ordered myself a set on ebay from america (cheaper than buying from UK!)
  23. Just tried to fit some old roto's i had knockin round to my Squier VM telebass and found the bullet wouldnt fit into the ferule on the back of the body (string thru body). Never thought that certain ones might not so does anyone who own this bass know what strings will fit? In particular im thinking DR Fatbeams
  24. No probs, im using one on loan at the mo and the guy also says its 200w @ 8ohm yet everywhere suggests its 200w @ 4ohm. Do you know owt?
