1. Played one of these (same colour actually) in the local Crack Converters last saturday. Played really nice (as nice as a p bass can with rounds anyway) but Mrs Pow made me put it down before i had chance to see the price tag.
2. I had a SC120 and would say it wasnt loud enough for me. Tried through various combinations of cabs but against two guitards and a reasonably loud drummer it just turned to a fuzzy mush. Lovely tone at quieter volumes tho just didnt have the balls at louder levels. Ive always wanted to try a SC200
3. Have to agree with Oli. They are probably the least valve-like sound ive had from a hybrid. The dual tube Ashdown's are more valve-like than the OTB sound wise but even then you arent close to a full on valve amp. My Hartke LH500 can be quite good with its brimar 12ax7 in with my flats loaded P - but again, nowts like a full valve amp
4. I know this will cause some major abuse on here but i gigged last week using the headliners Orange bass terror. Have used them before so as soon as i saw it i though ''ohhhhhh bollocks''. To me they just sound like someone has put an angry bee in an empty ale can and stuck a micropohone next to the hole. Horrible things
5. Big Picato fan here having used both their halfs and full on flats. Vastkly under rated in my opinion. Love their flats at £20 a pop from Strings Direct
6. Im with Lefty (or sometimes we can be found discussing all things low end in a drunken stupor int local) over in Little Lever
7. I wouldnt mind a go of the Bugera badged valve/hybrid amps. The clone of the SVT CL and the 4 pre amp Valved effort

10. Anyone help identify this valve i found in a box in out loft (not my uncles loft!). From what i can tell on Google its a blackburn coded mullard? Its a Cv491 with the codes 'Gf2' and 'B4F4' on the bottom. I have no means of testing other than whacking it in one of the Hartkes and seeing if it works. Can post pics later if it helps
11. Anyone know where I can get one of these knocked up using my current plate as a template? Id even consider a plastic ‘simulated’ anodised guard if necessary. The bass is just a cheapo ‘project’ ive picked up. Being sunburst and glossy maple I think it would look great with an anodised guard, chrome pup cover and tug bar. Tonewoods have one cheap(ish) but id need it made up to fit the bass rather than messing round with a generic one to try and get it to fit.
12. No worries, never know, may still be hear for a while yet

15. The warwick seems to be what im after. Its not bulky and just pretty plain and simple looking. Think they are around £50 as well so not too bad. Might stick a wanted ad on here and if nowt comes up will splash out on a new one. Cheers
16. My last cab was an Ashdown and as it was the deep model it wouldve been fine. The Hartke AK cab im currently using is noticably less deep, maybe not much more than the LH500 so around 15" possibly?
17. LH500 users who rackmount – what case are you using? I bought a Stagg 2U one off here and whilst the case is brilliant it’s a little too big for what I need. It hangs off the back of the cab and dosent feel fully secure with its plastic shiny feet against a shiny tolex – can see it rumbling off. Im after something maybe less bulky and certainly smaller (depth wise). Ive considered a few options:- · Roqsolid padded cover – Will be good but worried about level of protection · 2U carpet covered sleeve – again would be good (even better if it was tolext covered) but no lids so buttons exposed in transit · 2U wooden sleeve then buy a basic roqsolid cover to fit over the whole thing. Having never rackmounted before im not even sure im doing it right. Currently (in the Stagg case) ive had to remove the amps rubber feet to get it in and just used the screws at the front to secure – am I meant to secure the amp internally too? Of course if anyone has a small 2U case/sleeve (depth around 13” for the Hartke) and fancies a trade id be up for it tho id need to put that in the correct forum place.
18. Last bump and its back in the box and joins the Hartke under the bed. I have a rather expensive 'under the bed' at the moment
19. had one of these back in my Ashdown days before i went all crazy and Hartke. Swaped the two tubes out for some old Brimars and the thing sang! If you want a proper dual valve pre-amp effort put your Orange TB back in the toy box and snap this up!
20. Still not shifted even at this price so it goes in its box and under the bed. Not desperate to get rid and i know its not worth less than £200. May even use it as a part ex later in the year against a back up bass or something
