  1. Had one in the exact same colour (plus had the covers on). With Fender flats it was one of the best P basses ive ever played!
  2. Well - spent an hour noodling on it today at PMT. First impressions were its really nicely set up. Now normally I HATE roundwounds but this sounded really warm with them which really surprised me given the above comments. I played it through an Orange Terror combo (the isobaric effort) and it was really punch which I love. Long and short of it is....its now sat in my front room and sounds even better through my valve combo and quietly tested through my big valve rig it sounds great. Normally id just whip the rounds off and get flats on it straight away but with this im not sure, I recon a set of D'addario Halfs would sound mean on this thing! Will be taking it to rehearsal tomorrow for a proper blast so will report back
  3. Thanks neepheid, certainly food for thought. I wasnt aware of the low output on the Cabronita, i was actually expecting a 'p bass on steroid' type sound, dunno why. They have one in my local Dawsons so i should really try one plugged in. On the telebass, ive seen several mods where the tone pot is push/pull that selects a single coild from the pup thus lessening the 'mud' as it were. Will need to have a shop around and ignore the burning sensation in my pocket
  4. Righty oh then. Ive just sold my Epiphone Rivoli bass and that now leaves me with one (albeit the greatest bass i ever did play) bass in my arsenal. I dont really NEED a back up but id like to have one - plus my 2 year old has a fasination with "tars" and i dont want him getting to facinated with my '76 "tar". This leads me to start looking around with around half the proceeds from the rivoli at my disposal. My immediate thought was the Squier VM Telebass i had years ago, one cropped up in the local crack converters for £150 - well within budget and i did love my last one. Then a took a trip to PMT Manchester to see what they had and theres this bass - nothing like mny usual style, a bit 'quirky' looking, lovely glossy neck and around £270 - The Squier Cabronita bass. They let me play it through their usual Ampeg combo and it sounded great (well as good as you can with roundwounds anyway). Nicely set up, felt well made, a bit different to a lot of things out there and a maple neck (that i havent has for a while). So now im stuck - shell out a bit moire for the Cabronita, whack some flats on it and have fun or play 'safe' as it were and go for the VM Telebass (less versatile but fun all the same)
  5. Having played both 610's i would say the ABM is miles better. Ive heard the CL speakers take a while to 'break in' but to me they just sounded cheap and undefined (and that was with a CTM300). The ABM on the other hand sounded full and warm. Just my two penneth worth
  6. SOLD PENDING USUAL
  7. Offered a Gumtree-er £450 collected so ill also offer this to BCers. Off to Matamp at weekend so some spends would be good. Also developed a strange GAS for the Carbonita basses!
  8. Just seen 'No Trades'. On iPhone, my bad
  9. Any trades?
  10. On ebay at £500 BIN with 34 watchers! Minus fees ill accept a BC cash offer of £470 or trade for Ampeg 410HLF. Last price drop before i stick some roundwound GHS boomers on it and use it as a toy to blast my valves
  11. Few random trades/Part Ex's i MIGHT be interested in (wife pending):- Ampeg 410HLF Squier VM precision TB Ampeg SVT CL with money either way depending etc
  12. Tempted by the Nate P Bass but really GASsing after the 50's classic P in Burst

  14. Here we have my Epiphone Rivoli complete with Epiphone Hardcase and scratchplate. One pup version in sunburst. Recently had full set up and fret dress at PMT Manchester where it was fitted with GHS Brite Flats. No major dings - only 'blemish' as can be seen in photos is the screw in the front of the body near the pup where the previous owner had fitted a home made thumbrest (cut a p-bass style one in half by the looks of it). Im based in Bolton and really don't want to ship but I can deliver within reasonable distance. Trade wise id consider deals involving a Fender Classic 50's P Bass in Sunburst. SOLD PENDING
  15. Second string deal ive done with Redstriper and this was just as smooth and effortless as last time. Deal with confidence fellow low enders!

Met Martin today in Manchester to buy an ashdown pedal off him. Not only that he chucked in a few free ashdown goodies. Top geezer, a pleasure dealing. Cheers martin!
  17. Dont suppose you venture into the city centre during the week?
  18. Love these tele basses - had the old squier version and loved it, nowhere near as muddy as i expected it would be with that whoppin great bucker.
  19. i had the taper wraped round my Epi's elephant ear tuners twice so i wouldve thought so
  20. On my quest to find the ideal flatwound for my Epiphone rivoli i have got these two sets to offer:- 1) Picato Flat Wound 45-105. These werent on long. I use these on my P bass but a little to dark for a single humbucker bass (unoless you like dark of course). 2 hours play 2) D'Addario Halfrounds - 40-100 (i think). These were the closest i got to 'perfect'. Initially bright they soon settled down to a nice smooth thump whilst retaining a little bite. Only thing i didnt like was the small gauge. 10 hours play - Still have box Both cut for a 2+2 headstock. £12.50 each includes postage to UK
