  1. I'm interested in the new affordable Joe Dart bass. Anyone know what soft maple is like as a body wood? Will it ding up like basswood? https://sterlingbymusicman.com/products/joe-dart?variant=41532195831923
  2. If Michael Knight played bass...
  3. Good idea 💡 Cheers
  4. Does anyone know if this will fit into the recessed jack socket on an Ibanez Soundgear? I am envisioning some interference between the unit and the body of the bass.
  5. Anyone seen this luthier's masterpiece? This is one cool bass IMO. https://youtu.be/h_r_P2R-ODQ?si=V_OIEjniK5WwBtfd
  6. I travelled there to check out and potentially buy a bass only to find it had been sold a couple of weeks prior. Was in stock on their website. I stayed for a while to try a number of other basses anyway but left empty handed, credit card intact. I was advised to check their Instagram for incoming basses as this is updated before their website. Ended up buying a bass from somewhere else in the end.
  7. If Zelda from Terrahawks played bass.
  8. Any Rickenbacker. It's like having a bad dream about waking up in a parallel earth where everything is slightly different to how you'd expect it to be, and going to your local guitar shop to find the P bass was never invented and you could only buy Rickenbackers, then waking up in a cold sweat and running to check on your collection of normal basses to make sure you're awake.
  9. I'd say option c. These things happen. It's like getting a door dink in your new car. Annoying at first but eventually as your car ages your realise it's going to pick up some battle scars along the way, much like me. I recently bought my first relic'd bass, having always been anti relic. It's a Sandberg with a light relic, very tastefully done. Now I'm not so precious with this bass as I have been with others. If I was a gigging musician I would even accept additional road wear. But I draw the line at neck damage and feeling imperfections under my thumb. That I just cannot abide, and I would have to remedy any damage either by steam or filler.
  10. Warwick Rockbass Streamer with SS frets, Delano quad coil pickups, East custom blending preamp.
  11. Thank you for the welcomes. 🤘
  12. No, but I'd like a '76 Stingray, or at least the chance to play one. Besides, I'm more than happy with my 2018 Stingray special.
  13. Cool thanks man. Hopefully that's it and I won't ever need to readjust it. The bass is sounding great and feels a lot better under the fingers with some Hybrid Slinkys.
  14. Hi all, I recently purchased a California VS4, and albeit I have managed to adjust the bridge (intonation and saddle height) there is something I'm not sure about with the design. The manual says to adjust the 2 front grub screws and a single rear grub screw for string height. Is this so that the base of the saddle remains horizontal, or is there meant to be an incline from the rear to the front of the saddle? The latter is how it appears to have come from the factory, but this doesn't make sense. You'd think if it was meant to incline from the rear to the front of the saddle that there would be little point in having a grub screw at the rear? That 3rd rear grub screw also makes the saddle rock before locking it in place - kinda like taking the rear right hand side wheel off your car. Compared to bridges and saddles I've had on basses over the years, this one seems overly complicated and fiddly to get right, and not very friendly when it comes to setting intonation. Where's the intonation screw like on every other bridge ever made? The rest of the bass is awesome (apart from the strings it came with and were swapped out the very next day), but it's a shame about the bridge. Will I learn to love the bridge eventually? I dunno. Any advice or enlightenment gratefully received. Best regards Russ
  15. I have been playing bass on and off (mostly off) since my late teens, but had a bit of a resurgence over the last 5 years. Been in a couple of bands, been in the studio a handful of times. Also play guitar. I have G.A.S. as bad as the next person, but it's slowing down now (I think). My basses comprise Ibanez, Music Man, Hofner, Sandberg, and Warwick. I have some bass pedals, my main amp is a PJB Double Four and I use a Spark Go for headphone practice. I appreciate most styles of music except for Jazz (sorry Jazz lovers, I'm not hating on you - it just never grew on me).
