1. good call, cheers
  2.
Alex - you sir are guilty! Guilty Alex
I have to claim at least 50% responsibility there. That was us deafening people with the Big One having about 150W max going through it. Imagine what it can do with 500W. Or 1000W. Sonic death. Awesome.
  3. I'll buy it. Good on ya!
  4. I have an LH500 and use it with either a new-style Trace 1518 or a Trace V-Type 4x8. It sounds awesome with both! Also building a compact 1x15 cab for it which will give me a lot of low-mid phatness.
  5.
Am in East Yorkshire, but possible help with delivery/meet up etc.
Thank god for that - if you were within "spitting" distance I'd be in VERY big trouble now!! Cracking cab at a cracking price
  6. What a lovely ironing board Gorgeous. About 4 too many strings for my brain but you cannot deny the beauty and elegance of that
  7. My gig bag has my bass in it, and a cleaning cloth. My big silver case has: leads, lots of leads screwdrivers wire cutters soldering iron strings fuses strap earplugs deodorant towel plectrums batteries allen keys power supplies for my pedals my pedals think that's it
  8.
oh i see! read it wrong. how much they going for alex? (you do them right?)
Looking back, it does make it look like I have one already... Sorry! Alex is doing the Compact for £375 + £25 postage. The drivers have gone up in price though, so later in the year these will no doubt be going up a little bit...
  9.
go on then, what did you pay for it? they do look bloomin good....and light! I have a mini me due in may so the wife has cut down on my pocket money!
I don't own one. Yet. But I will, hopefully before the year is out!
  10.
I've just ordered one of these, http://barefacedbass.com/index.html I have read many good things about them, might suit you too. Craig

i have looked at them before. are they not a bit pricey?
Barefaced cabs are "not a bit pricey" indeed (see what i did there?!) Sorry... They are a damn good bargain for the performance and weight advantages over more readily available cabs. As it says on the site, I still hold the Compact up as the best 1x15 cab I've ever heard. When I have some money for myself (instead of being put aside for MiniMert) I will be owning two.
  11. I use a Hartke head with a Trace Elliot cab and it sounds awesome:

    My Shukers

Love that J - reminds me of mine (being all black, and all ) but love the individuality and thought you've put into it. Like the 6er too, even if I'd never be able to play it well
  13. Woooo! Bet you *really* can't wait any longer to get that in your mitts (as if not seeing the pic would have made the slightest difference to you)! Lovely
  14.

Simply stunning.
  15.
The SE bash was a model of organisation sir ...
We have ideas about how to make it better next time I'm up for a National Bash, depends when it is (MiniMert and all) but definitely time for another one, ooh yes.
  16. That's in mighty fine condition and a bargain
  17.
And possibly why Merton likens it to his V-Type...
Only just caught this thread somehow Yes, it is. The V-Type preamp and the LH preamp are essentially the same, but the V-Type has an extra valve for the providing overdrivey sonic lushness. Unsurprising then, that so far I'm not missing the V-Type, but it has only been 2 days...
  18. Now that is gorgeous! Hope it sounds and plays as good as it looks
  19. Without accurate measuring facilities I couldn't say, but it seems to be pretty loud vs my 4x8 V-Type cab, which I have always found a very pokey little beast. I'm tempted by another 1518 or a 1518c to sit atop this. Or maybe a 1028H. I really like the look of the 1015H too
  20.
I'm actually tempted by the new Trace Elliot stuff as well. A bit more weight wise than what i was originally looking for but that's what casters are for!
I've just got this: It's sooo much lighter than the old Trace gear, I was shocked when I first picked it up. Still a ceramic magnet but the cab is just effortlessly light in comparison to the old f**k-heavy Trace gear (still not barefacedBass light of course...) Plus the sound is better (IMO) too. Deeper, fuller, less "barky" but very in-you-face still. I like muchly!
  21. Yup, Tom is a top fella. Had a couple of mini chats with him over at TB, he comes across as a good guy with a lot of bass gear!!
  22.

Winners
  23.
I like that idea. Trouble is, Alex has three cab models at the moment (with more on the way), and each one's got a different grille size. To cut costs, it might be an idea to fix on a logo size that can be applied to every grille equally effectively. It's a compromise, but if it helps to keep costs down, that could be a very good thing. I love the logo, but there's something that grates with me about the look of the "subtitle". Maybe something like this would work better: (Apologies to deksawyer for messing with your work!)
Good point - a one-size-fits-all is so much more cost effective. And to a degree I prefer your subtitle too...
  24.
New logo design courtesy of deksawyer: The question is how big should the badge be? Alex
V nice! I'd say a third the width of the grille.
