1.
Bogdan Helter Skelter/Polish Love? Ace and very rare handmade with a really meaty sound. I might know where there is one... ;-)
Sorry for late reply, I have gone for the B3k its on its way ! but thanks for the offer
  2. Ordered a B3K from thomann, now its the "check the track and trace every 5miniuts game" for the next few days
  3.
There going to go on a StingRay (the slightly tamer one of the two) at the same time as a new set of my usual on the other one,(there both due a change) and will rotate them in use as I always do and report back
To quote myself, things never working out in reality compared to theory. I put the free set on the planned bass then spent the rest of the day playing it, I like them straight off the bat ! so I thought a fairer test would be to order another set in my preferred gauge (50&70 on the bottom) for the other Stingray and play them as usual. First impressions im very impressed, they don't feel like coated strings, they don't feel like steels either, but do feel nice, almost like flats !!! Like I said first impressions im very impressed, they are twice the price of a standard/my usual set (£30 I got them for, delivered) but so far its justified. Just a matter of time now to see if they prove them self, got a feeling they will !
  4.
www.bassdirect.co.uk is where I got mine from I'll record something next week with it. I've tried a few octave pedals but this is the first one I've enjoyed using. I tried the MXR BOD but I didn't like the tones I was getting. I couldn't get on with the IE Sub-T (not strictly octave but I thought the tracking on it was very questionable for something which was rated so highly on Talkbass.) Don't get me started on the OC3. I've not tried the Markbass so I cannot comment.
Thanks The Markbass was the favourite I could find at the time (couple of years ago) its a nice unit just few twitchy little things about it are getting me to start looking else ware. It tracks beautifully to about G on the E then its gone but a very usable effect all the same (providing the jacks stay in there sockets.....) Thanks for the link and look forward to hearing some clips and feedback from you
  5. Bob, have you a link for the octave pedal, might be looking for something new in that department, using a Markbass Octaver at the min, its good but not great
  6. I got a set with a new BGM subscription, 105-45 Stainless Steels. I generally prefer a 50&70 on the D&G and nickel is what I use. I have in the past used coated strings of various brands an not found them to be worth the extra price. I love a new set of strings so stick to one brand and one gauge (Ernie Balls, Regular Slinkys) soon as the zing is gone put a new set on so this should be an interesting test. There going to go on a StingRay (the slightly tamer one of the two) at the same time as a new set of my usual on the other one,(there both due a change) and will rotate them in use as I always do and report back They should/will be going on today 15-07-15
  7. Yeah its the B3K at the end that has my ultimate attention (its always the ££ one ) and seriously debating this http://www.monteallums.com/pedal_mods.html#odb3
  8.
Think you should search Google for Monte Allums. Tonnes of great info. You pay the money and he sends you replacement caps, led's, etc... If you are ok with a soldering iron the instructions are fairly easy to follow. Took me about 30 mins to make the mod and I am not the best with a soldering iron. Mod brings the gain under control somewhat and the three way switch opens up many tonal options. It works great with guitar too.
Impressed, very impressed, this is something I am going to put some thought into, nice thanks for the tip !
  9.
The COG Darklighter is something worth considering too.
That's not bad either ! and nearly half the price of the B3K Still undecided

  11.
Very cool! As you've gone the cable-tie route, perhaps a well placed tie at the right tension would help with the jacks on the MB octave?
I have tried that, and tape around the whole thing even, its just a matter of being aware of it and keeping an eye on it, just don't want it breaking contact mid gig.... Its possibly the best octave pedal I have every used, but the build of it ? not what you would expect from the name brand I don't care what anybody says, the Boss pedal casing is about as good as it will ever get for user ease. And at the end of the world all that will be left is lots of Boss pedals ! is it even possible to break one accidently ?
  12.
I made the Monte Allums mod to my ODB3, did everything you describe in your first post here. It transformed the pedal into something much more usable and controllable.
Not heard of this, tell me more please
  13.
Orange Terror is a really good match for the B3K too, it's a dark sounding amp which helps tame the brightness of the pedal.
The GAS is building for the BK3 .....
  14. Thanks, note taken and on my way to have a look, its the Darkglass B3K that's got my attention at the min, selling some pedals to generate some cash. The VT is a monster in its self, its hard to explain in words, Orange Terror + the VT with SunBlue Stingray is something !! add the octave to it and its too much, collapse in a mush ! something is going to give (that's ware I'm thinking a Thumpinator will come in ? correct me if im wrong) I use the OBD3 by its self and with the MB octave mainly, just fiddly .

  16. Darkglass BK3, sounds great on the demos, who has one an what to you think of it ?
  17. I'm looking to upgrade the Boss Overdrive pedal what would you suggest? I want something similar but crisper, less muddy, more drive with sharper definition that will work well with the VT Bass. Thanks for reading an I look forward to hearing your suggestions
  18. Had to modify it, thought I could do with out the Boss Overdrive but apparently not So im looking for a replacement any ideas what to replace it with ? I want something similar sounding but crisper, the Boss is a bit too muddy and it has a noticeable effect on everything just by being in the chain, it has served me well but needs updating Also thinking about a Thumpinator, the Orange head im running with this set up is trying to kill my cones, especially when adding Octave to it Here is another thought, the MarkBass Octave I have is possibly the best sounding octave pedal I have ever used, but the jack sockets on it are ..... you have to keep a constant eye on them. any suggestions on how to keep them fixed in other than wrapping electrical tape around the effect, even that is not 100%
  19.
I believe Genz-Benz amps have that, I vaguely remember reading EBS's Multicomp does something similar as well, though it is a vague memory.
This is my thinking, I use the same cabs (Genz Benz FCS 410 & 115) with the Shuttle head turned up to a decent volume there is little movement in the speakers, I use that set up for clean, mild modulation maybe an all is good. But when I have the Orange hooked up to it at the same or less volume there is a significant amount of movement in the cones, especially the 15, with that set up in going for grit so add the Tech 21 VT and all hell breaks loose, sounds great just ... something is going to give so putting some thought into getting one, for that set up
  20. Recently brought a second John East for my other Stingray, the plan was to leave one standard but any play that bass was getting was purely out of guilt for no playing it, so have one in each now

    Velcro or ?

Nearly forgot, the height of the feet needed raising, quick fixed it with (there actually knobs off an old effect, superglued in then taped over, I will find something better soon, any body else experienced this ? in fact anybody who uses a PT Nano, put some pictures up or direct me to some of your please

    Velcro or ?
Use the velcro..... AND.....Cut wooden strips that span the gap in the pedaltrain, fix the strip to the underside of the pedaltrain with double sided tape, then use a big tie wrap to fix the pedal to the wooden strip, in essence sandwiching the pedaltrain. I use this solution to great effect on my PT3.
I read this after I actually did it, wooden strips (covered in tape) the same size or slightly smaller for the under side and wrap a cable tie around it, (apart from on the VT, I used the T-Rex, they lock each other on) looking forward to road testing it Thanks for posts
  23. Had a culling of effects, this is what I am planning on running next, Wah can be added if needed ad the compressor can stay with the am, wont miss the envelope or boost too much I hope
