  1. GAS has struck again, and I’m not one for letting something sit for weeks and not sell, I’d rather spread the joy a bit and take the hit myself. So it’s now £195 posted - and IMO that is an insanely good price. Don’t all rush at once tho! 😁
  2. For sale is the absolutely fantastic GK Plex preamp. The amp sims and EQ on this are absolutely second to none, so if you like the Gallien Kreuger sound this is really good, is also has a great 4 band EQ and each EQ button can be pressed for a different contour effect with 2-3 levels of boost/cut on each (bass boost/mid scoop/hi cut/presence), so the tone shaping options are massive, and it’s really hard to get anything resembling a bad sound from it. It also has a very good compressor which is fully alterable rather than just a one knob job you get on a lot of preamps, and 5 levels of drive which I only used the lightest one, and really liked. Also a headphone amp and tuner, DI and 1/4” out, runs on any 9v pedalboard power supply These are £519 in Bass Direct, and worth that money if you compare the features and the quality of those features - it’s a top drawer preamp, it’s in a very substantial metal housing. I was going to put it up for £275 but checked what I paid on here and it was £225 posted and so in the spirit of the site that’s what I’ll put it up for (*I want this shifted as I’ve seen something I’m after so it’s £195 posted*) I’d prefer to keep it but as much as I like the GK sound, it’s not what I really need at all for the stuff I’m playing currently - no doubt at all I will have another one at some point. Possibly do a deal with a Genzler Magellan Pre or an AK Fake Plastic Trees (with appropriate adjustments), or you’re welcome to try me with what you have but I’d much rather sell it Reduced to £195 posted! - comes in the original box too
  3. Grizzly Bass OD/Distortion/Tone shaper - very recently bought on here from @IanA (so I have used his photos and description and linked the ad below). It’s a really good pedal, you can do an awful lot of different things with it - and it does them all really well, but it’s more than I need atm and if I’m honest I just like buying & selling pedals and trying new stuff 😁 I’m not really an overdrive person, but that being said I’m interested in trades/deals for a DCX Bass or a Genzler Magellan DI or Trickfish OD Pre amongst other things (with appropriate cash adjustments). Other than that I’m maybe interested in trades for preamps, low gain dirt or compressors but really I’ve priced it cheap to sell as I know what I am after ideally £120 posted Previous ad 👇

  4. Traded compressors with Jim - great transaction as always - top fella too!
  5. Bought recently on here - great compressor that can also add some very nice saturation if required, but does clean. Can go from very subtle through to really heavy compression - Bassics is the brand of effects sold at the legendary ‘Bass Centre’ shop in London. Really great especially for this price, but I need something smaller (would take a Spectracomp in trade) Paid £70 recently from the ad below 👇 but I need something smaller! Happy to take trades, compressors, preamps etc - can add cash for the right thing. All I have done is add some duo-lock to the bottm, but can remove if preferred. High quality compressor at a really good price! £60 inc tracked delivery
  6. I’ve got one of these - got it on eBay, and for the price it’s actually astoundingly good!
  7. If postage ever becomes an option please DM me @Lozz196 and let me know, this would have sold within a week if it had been I think
  8. Trickfish Signal Filter - super useful pedal with independent HPF (38hz - 310hz) and LPF (330hz - 15khz) so unlike others on the market you can turn either of them off separately without having to turn both off. Also there is 15db of ‘Make Up’ gain for the HPF which sounds absolutely excellent - you can kill all off all the ugly sub lows and tighten up your bottom end, and then bring the volume back up so the new, tighter sound really punches through Couple of vids below 👇 although as you’ll appreciate it’s not a super obvious effect like a fuzz, however as far as being a genuine tone shaper goes, having a HPF taking out all the sub lows and cleaning your tone up makes a colossal difference live. LPF can be used in a number of ways - I’ll either have it always on and it’s just takes all the shrill top end and string noise etc off, or I’ll use it more as an effect but have it set a lot lower and then kick it on for certain tunes and it’s like a passive tone control type vibe - but there’s allsorts, and because you can operate the HPF & LPF independently unlike the Broughton one for example, it gives you a lot of options. The make up gain makes a big difference too as it perfectly brings up the loss of volume to the level you set, anyway I’m not amazing at explaining things tbh, hopefully these are a bit better! 👇 These are £215 new, this has been used but it’s got no obvious signs of wear at all just some duo lock underneath which I can remove if preferred - comes with the box & manual Price is £130 shipped or happy to trade/take PX (Or I’ll add cash if the deal is right) Trades: There’s a few things I’m currently in the market for, happy to add cash: - Compressor (TC Spectracomp, Source Audio Atlas & Ampeg Optocomp all interest me but try me!), - Drive/OD - not really an OD guy but I’m after a few things: DCX Bass, JPTR Jive, Genzler 4 on the floor, Catalinbread SFT (Think lower gain/B15-y type pedals but definitely after at least 1 more) - Preamps - Really want a Genzler Magellan Pre, but also Barber Linden EQ, anything with a bit of flavour rather than just being just an EQ pedal - try me. Could also do with another Octave pedal but you’re very welcome to try me with whatever you are looking to
  9. It’s a really great & high end preamp isn’t it?! Amp sim’s sound massive and completely realistic & give you a great sound flat, but then the EQ options and contour switches can really add some flavour - I expect to see more love for the Plex, it’s great! (Altho the £519 price tag at Bass Direct is a bit wild 😕 but looking at other stuff out there for £300+ it’s worth the money!)
  10. Does this have an effects loop?
  11. The AG is very clean, especially flat and i honestly wouldn’t say it has its own sound or noticeable flavour really, just a 4 band eq and deep/bright switches which are nothing exciting tbh. The Tone Hammer is much better IMO but again flat I’d say it’s pretty non descript - clean with a nice EQ on it but no inherent flavour. The special sauce with the Tone Hammer is the AGS which is essentially a drive channel and that’s what gives some valve amp like tones, ranging from very subtle to full on distortion. The tonehammer is very good but mainly because it’s so versatile when you tweak it you can do a pretty good approximation of any sound, but I wouldn’t particularly say it’s has its own sound at all
  12. The top one of these two pics is probably closest to how I see it. I’ve just been playing through my GK Plex as a headphone amp tho, and I think I’m in love 😍 Admittedly I’ve had more basses than poor Harvey Price has had stepdads, but this is perfect for me at the moment, so impressed!
  13. I’ve never seen one IRL, just pics but I think the Peter Hook is a more ‘red’ red (hope that description cleared things up 🙄🤣)
  14. Mine looks almost browny/purple in the picture I posted, but it looks a very bright red in yours! ☝️ It’s definitely lighter IRL than the pic I posted tho, as long as I avoided the Matt black I was happy - I’d have owned one ages ago but I reneged on the deal cos I didn’t want Matt black. It was more for the fact it’d end up looking minging at gigs with all the sweat etc, I just couldn’t keep it looking good in a Matt finish and I don’t like black basses at the best of times. That Sunburst 434 looks great - if that had the inlays too I wouldn’t know the difference between that and the P34!
  15. It’s also good to use at the end of a board because it has an effects loop so you can run everything through it and so it has a proper buffer and stops tone suck from running loads of pedals, long cables etc. They definitely make your bass sound better, is a subtle low end boost and real clarity. I said to myself that next time a used one comes up that I would definitely get it, as they’re fantastic, but I’m gonna need to sell first 😬 😕
  16. This is definitely my favourite colour of the BB73* range! I noticed the Sunburst on the P34/5’s is different to this, this is darker which is presumably the ‘coffee’ part - really classy looking! The crimson red is definitely growing on me, but I’m very much looking forward to getting one of these in this colour!
  17. I’ve got a Coffeeburst 734a on hold with someone till month end - it’s strung with flats and will be used for different gigs, but I can’t wait. I am seriously thinking about tinkering with the electronics on them but we’ll see
  18. Rejoined the BB club yesterday - £799 in Guitar Guitar in the new ‘Crimson Red’, I’d have preferred the Sunburst but it’s preferable to Matt Black and I can live with it. I bought it about 4:30pm as the only one in stock was the Newcastle store which I’m near, so I picked it up and gigged it that night. It sounded excellent, more than happy with it - although I almost bought a BBP35, but I do prefer the option of an active bass
  19. If you actually rehearse at all then this is definitely true 😁 Im wanting to try a Genzler Magellan and if I do get hold of one and like it then you could borrow it for a few weeks with a view to buying it or whatever. Like I say the GK is a really great sound but I want the functionality of the Magellan as it has two switchable contours and onboard HPF which currently takes up board space and a power supply slot in a separate pedal. Anyway, in summary - if you like the GK sound then the GK Plex is tremendous
  20. Honestly John I think it’s really good - obviously I’m a fan of the GK sound, although it’s not the ‘be all & end all’ of bass tone for me or anything like that, I just really liked the GK amp presets on modellers like the Stomp/Tonex etc because it’s super easy to work with and get a really nice tone without much messing about at all. If you want to borrow it for a couple of days during the week mate just pop down to Chester le St and your welcome to take it away and have a tinker with it mate, just get it me back by Friday dinnertime so I can put my board together for the weekends gigs 😁 It’s miles better than any of the digital models I’ve heard, but having never owned a GK amp I can’t say how close it is to the actual amp, but best thing you can do is borrow it and see what you think - I really rate it but YMMV and all that, I can’t see you disliking it if you like the GK sound.
  21. If you like the Gallien Kreuger sound then the GK Plex preamp does a very, very good job of replicating it in pedal format. It has a 4 band EQ and loads of different contour options etc, but the main ‘special sauce’ it has is the ‘Voicing’ button which selects 1 of 4 diff GK amps to use/sim (800RB, Fusion 550, MB800 & MB150). Anyway those amp sim’s alone, with no other EQ or anything else - particularly #2 (Fusion 550) and even more so #3 (MB800), give your bass that GK ‘sound’ in an incredibly authentic way - it’s definitely as you described, totally flat with just the MB800 voicing selected. It blew me away the first time I ran it through a PA and went out front for a listen whilst sound checking - I knew it sounded good at home, was very impressed, but it’s sometimes hard to know what it’s really gonna sound like till you’ve tested it at volume, and the GK Plex is fantastic. When I actually sit and think of all the preamps I’ve had & gigged with, a lot of them sound pretty plain if you’re just talking about how they sound flat -stuff like the Aguilar Tone Hammer, Ampeg SGT-DI, Capo etc - they all dont start giving you the special bit of mojo you wanted until you engage the drive/gain channels and fiddle about a bit, they all sound pretty different but just going into the board flat you might not tell one from the other, but the Plex is unmistakable as the ‘GK sound’ I had a WA Goliath tube preamp/DI for a bit and that had a very unique and thick sound too just at flat, but for the amount it cost it bloody well should have done 👀
  22. Grizzly Bass OD/Distortion/Tone shaper - very recently bought on here from @IanA (so I have used his photos and description and linked the ad below). It’s a really good pedal, you can do an awful lot of different things with it - and it does them all really well, but it’s more than I need atm and if I’m honest I just like buying & selling pedals and trying new stuff 😁 I’m not really an overdrive person, but that being said I’m interested in trades/deals for a Trickfish Overdrive Preamp, a Genzler 4 on the floor OD, a DCX Bass or a Genzler Magellan DI (with appropriate cash adjustments). Other than that I’m maybe interested in trades for preamps or compressors but really I’ve priced it cheap to sell £125 - fiver postage if needed Previous ad 👇

  23. It took me ages to find one, the only ones I’ve seen were for sale abroad for £2k+
  24. Ohhh that Copilot cubic might be useful - you really don’t see many about. I tried to hunt one down for ages after seeing a YouTube demo with no luck, I don’t need it now but I’m still tempted, great little synthy octaver!
