I don't tend to update photos much now, but here are a few of my Stingray 5 HS, which a few of you asked for photos of. When I get time I'll take a few more.
That is a pickup configuration is one which i have wanted to try for quite a while. very tasty Does the "s" pickup add much to the tonal pallet ?
I've just finished my MiniRig Mk2. It was gigged for the first time last weekend and worked fine with a pair of Aguilar SL112s. The rack case was made to my specification by Flightcase warehouse and I can't praise them enough. They shaved days off their quoted delivery so I could have it in time for my gig and it was dimensionally perfect. The spacing of the rack strip was such that I could fix several rack trays which came from a Gator wireless mic case. The Boss Tuner and dbx compressor are screwed to these This mean't that the overall width was just larger than the GK Fusion Amp which is secured from underneath by bolts into the feet holes. Note the extra hole in the side for the GK cooling fan. There is still nothing in the top 1U tray so I've been wondering about fitting a small UV light.
That really is "mini" Thats a really nice job there How much does it weigh ?
My Custom Precision Has Landed! First posted this in Build Diaries, but I reckon out of 20,000-odd BassChatters, there must still be at least four or five who haven't seen this! And I feel 'Precisions' should be it's rightful home. Now read on: There are various features that I like about Precision basses spanning the 50s, 60s and 70s. What if it were possible to bring them together in one bass? I like the 50s vibe, but I like the comfort of contours. I like the 50s-type pickguard shape but also the early 60s-type 3-ply guards. A 51-type single coil pick-up is fine, but the 57-type split pick-up is more versatile, imho... and I got very used to the 70s-type 'F' stamped neck plate on my beloved USA Fender 76 Precision... So I approached our own Howard Satterley (The Bass Doc) with a very dodgy Photoshop mock-up of what I wanted... this was the brief: Body: Alder in vintage white. 57-type contours and radiussing, with routing for 51-type control plate. 62-type 3-ply pickguard in mint/black/mint, cut to 51-type shape. Neck: Allparts Fender-licensed one-piece maple neck with skunk stripe, truss rod adjustment at heel. 51-type headstock shape. Fender 'spaghetti' decal under clear coat. Vintage tint. 70s-type radius. Synthetic bone nut. Black dots. Hardware: Fender strap buttons. Side-mounted jack socket in cat's-eye plate. 57-type bridge with threaded barrels. 51-type control plate with chrome dome knobs. 70s-type 'F'-stamped neck plate on black cushion. Kluson reverse vintage tuners. La Bella Deep Talkin' 760FL strings. Electrics: Seymour Duncan Vintage SPB-1 split pickup. CTS solid shaft pots. Ceramic disc 0.05uF cap. Am I a happy bunny? Well, finally I know what 'plays like butter' means. The set-up is perfect, the action low and there is no fret buzz whatsoever from any string at any fret position. It sounds great, very warm, woody and present, with that classic 'clicky' attack when played with a pick...a lot like a Precision Bass, in fact. So yes, I'm a very happy bunny indeed! My Precision Bass GAS is finally over! Many thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Howard for his skill, endless patience and excellent communications. And thanks for all the bubble wrap, Uncle Horrid!
I love this bass , it looks fantastic. This is in my top 10 list of Precisions in this thread
Lie down in a dark room, the feeling will pass.
I love it I owned an Orange AD200 with the matching Orange 410 & 115 cabs , all in flight cases. The rig sounded fantastic with my Precision and Stingray 5. In the end i sold the lot as really needed two people to help move the gear. It was ok when i was with the band but when i got home i was on my own and just could not do it. I do miss the valve tone but not the weight issue. I also had a "when are the valves going to go" thought constantly in the back of my mind at each gig. I use Epifani gear now and i do keep thinking "how can i have the valve tone with my LIGHT Epi gear "??? a valve pedal ??

I wonder how the Powder Coat Finishes will stand the test of time wit gear being lugged around ?

I love the look of the 112 combo with the White finish. It is very striking, as other peiople have said, it is great to see something other than black. I know that the DIST range could be bought in some funky colours but I think it is the curvey shape that draws me to these AL products .
