The MTV generation is a relatively small one that I’m proud to be a part of - the early/mid 90’s had me dicovering new bands at a phenomenal rate thanks to shows like headbangers ball and Into The Pit. Then pop culture icons like beavis and butthead. It was a seminal moment in music history. But as per above, Ray Cokes (legend) is right - MTV died a long time ago. i have nothing but fond memories for those hours spent in front of the screen or watching overnight recorded VHS tapes of the channel.

Guys, on Thursday our singer dropped a message into our ‘serious’ WhatsApp group (as opposed to our regular chat which is full of memes and in-jokes). Long story short, it was ‘We need to chat, I’ve got a lot going on and I’m not in a good place. I want this to come out through me and not for you to find out later…etc etc’ Now I’m off on holiday tomorrow with my wife and we’ve been looking forwards to this holiday for literally years (we last went abroad in 2019). So I said ‘that’s cool, but we need this sorted and out in the open before I go away, because this isn’t going to hang over my holiday. 3 of us (4-piece band) could manage several dates and times, but the singer couldn’t make any of them. We offered a group call but he didn’t respond. Today, we discussed the opportunity of meeting tomorrow AM just before I go away, but once again he can’t make it ‘so it’ll have to be when you get back’ in response I left the ‘serious’ group chat with a message saying ‘I’m not dealing with this on my holiday, someone came rejoin me in this group when I get back’ I’m certain it’s p***ed him off as he hasn’t even reached out to say ‘are you ok?’ (I’m not). Unlike the other 2 guys who both checked in with me in no time. Have I overreacted?

At the risk of getting overtly political, because we know how BC feels about that, this idea that we all left and right need to align and come together to take down *those lot up there* is well intended but futile. I wont come together with anyone whose views on certain subjects are diametrically opposed to mine. Subjects like racism or migration? I won’t stand alongside anyone who parrots the sort of claptrap we now sadly hear every day of the week from GBeebies. Am I in the same social strata as Dave the rascist over the road? Yes. Will I stand alongside him? Hell no. Not now, not ever.

My guitarist bought me little knob covers because I’ve been so excited about mine literally since April. So now all your anagrams look weird to me 🤣

The very idea of deposing makes me shiver with fear. I’m not great at meeting new people, and I’m not the greatest bass player around - I can learn songs but it takes me a while, and I’ll simplify if I have to. I certainly can’t read music. I’ll stay in my comfort zone with the equally inept guys in my band 😜

I grew up in a political household, grandad was leader of the council and charged debates at gatherings was the norm. Fall-outs were regular and (usually) temporary. My folks voted for Brexit. They voted against the interests of themselves, their children and their own grandchildren despite myriad warnings and bundles of evidence telling them that was the case. That’s not something that should be brushed off IMO. Mayhap i have unusual views on ‘family’ as I don’t buy this thing that ‘there’s nothing more important than family’ - it’s a mindless trope IMO

I think we can surmise this thread by all agreeing that if someone has painted a roundabout, bought a flag from Amazon and hung it from a lamppost, or responded to positivity about the England women’s football team by suggesting it’s of a low standard, you’re going to struggle to find bandmates.

And yet since it’s the primary legislation used in the U.K, maybe your assertion is wrong. If it didn’t provide a useable definition, then it wouldn’t be fit for purpose.

I didn’t say my definition, did I? I used the Oxford definition, available online. I find that’s better than inventing my own.

Extremism and bigotry both have definitions which are easily found with a quick search.

I play for fun, that’s the beginning and end of it. If I’m not enjoying it then I’ll pack it in. Spending time in the company of someone who’s openly espouses views that I find abhorrent would be a deal-breaker for me. Yes, they’re entitled to their views, and I’m entitled to call them out on it, or leave their presence (most likely both).

So I’ve had half an hour playing with mine essentially as a stomp-box. I’ll have a better look tomorrow. One thing - my phone Bluetooth won’t find the anagram on the Darkglass suite (iOS). Bluetooth is ‘on’ in the Anagram, but it just won’t find it. Going to wire into the laptop tomorrow and update it

Gear4Music - ordered back end of April 🤨

Had tracking confirmation that my Anagram will arrive tomorrow. Mrs Buccaneer and I are both at work, so it may well get sent back to the parcel place. But keep everything crossed, I’ll leave work as early as I can! 😀

We spoke to the guy this AM, he’s tight with the guitarist (they work together). We’ll be letting the venue know (politely) that we won’t be back.

Just home from a paid rehearsal, a quite well paid rehearsal, as it happens. Played to our wives and the bar staff, essentially. However, we have a few regular folk who come and see us every time we play, and they were absent tonight. When I asked the guitarist where they were - apparently last time we played this pub, the landlady made a comment about one of the chaps ethnicity. This floored me, and since we have a rebooking in December (already arranged) we’re in a quandary I think we’ll cancel the gig, and if we have to explain why then I’ll happily tell the landlady to her face.

Mine has been despatched from Sweden today. Expected on 1/9 😀
