WITHDRAWN FROM SALE Here's my Yamaha RBX374 four string bass up for sale - it's looks as new - I've only had it a short time. It has active tone controls & you can get a great range of tones. I got it just before Christmas, but active basses aren’t my thing, I’ve discovered. I’ll put it in the basic “slip” cover/gig bag that you can see in one of the photos. Price now £125. I can pack it securely in bubblewrap & heavy cardboard & send it - say 6 kilos packed weight – (bass is 4 kilos). About £13/£14 by Interparcel on top of the price.

Pickguard for an American Standard Jazz bass – this is a genuine WD pickguard – the thick (2.5mm) solid black one. It is drilled for American guitars. There is some surface marking from plectrum/fingernails but in great condition – no splits or cracks. Link below to the ones at WD Guitar parts - http://www.wdmusic.c...ndard-109-c.asp I have checked at the Post Office and it’s £3.20 to send by first class post, so I’m asking £15 including postage (that’s for the UK only).

PRICE DROP NOW £10 INCLUDING UK POSTAGE Pickguard for an American Standard Jazz bass – this is a genuine Fender white/black/white pickguard. It is drilled for American guitars. Here's my American Standard Jazz bass up for sale. It has a lovely feel to it, and plays nicely - it gives some really great tones but it’s too much money tied up. The bass dates from 2003 (s/n starts with Z3). It has the S1 pickup switching circuit fitted as standard – you press the top of the neck pickup volume control and the pickups switch into series to give a “bigger” sound – more like a Precision bass - it’s a very useful feature. It comes with a Fender well padded gig bag, as well as the owners manual, registration form, wiring diagram explaining the S1 switching, neck tag, and a Fender strap – there is even a Fender duster! I think that the bass is in really great condition for its age, whilst it has a few dings and marks on it, it looks good, the frets are fine, the neck is true, and it plays really well. Also consider trades for American Standard Telecaster, or a decent six string semi acoustic/jazzer,

Just obsessing with this now - bought a secondhand Fender Jazz so tweaking it and tweaking it to get it "right". It takes ages (to my mind) to get it spot on - but that is when you sit playing the bass at home in quiet surroundings. Equally when you are on stage then all this goes out of the window - when it's at volume in a band context then even a high action or a buzzy fretted bass sounds just fine. If you were recording it with individual feeds then analyzed it later, then maybe you would discern flaws (apart from all of my mistakes, that is!)..... But it has to be "just so" for each individual so that they feel happy to call the bass their own - and that is why I'll be fiddling around with the settings for a while yet.

I was looking up string tension on the forum - I want to have a more relaxed play on my Jazz bass, and came across these on this thread http://liutaiomottol...lae/tension.htm http://liutaiomottol.../perception.htm Very interesting links that you have posted there, Essential Tension. I want to get some strings with lower tension - but also now I see that the question of "compliant" strings comes into it as regards my/the players perception of how "easy" it is to play. So thinner strings = lower tension, but for compliance that is presumably down to the manufacturer & his materials/construction? I read (I think) that DR Sunbeamstrings are low tension, also Thomastic Infeld - is this so in anybody's experience - any particular model/type number please? Any advice gratefully received.

Here's my Yamaha RBX374 four string bass up for sale - it's almost as new - I've only had it a short time -it comes with a basic unpadded gig bag as well. Price reduced - now £150. I got the bass just before Christmas - See the advert below from Alan Gregory Music Shop for full details. http://www.alangrego...Bass_Guitar.html It has active tone controls & you can get a great range of tones, but I'm really into Fender basses & looking to sell this to buy a Fender. Maybe a trade with money your way? I'm in Rochdale, just off the A627M. If you want to call & try it, give me a shout. (If it were a question of packing & sending it, the bass is 4 kilos, so with packaging say around 6 kilos packed weight - by Parcelforce 48I think that would work out about £15/£17 - but I would have to check for a more accurate figure if it came to sending it.) UPDATE - see posts below - thanks to WOTSY - I'll put forward Interparcel as the prospective carrier for round the £13/£14 mark, in that case.

Hi - nice bass there - could I interest you in either a USA Peavey Foundation fretless - but with fretboard markers - in black, excellent guitar, with a rosewood board from the late eighties, or, perhaps a Yamaha RBX374 active which is almost new - 4 string, metallic dark red, with a rosewood board, plus cash your way???
