1. Here's a pickguard for a Jazz bass - I believe it's a "proper" Fender one - I bought it off another Basschatter a while ago but now don't have that bass I was going to fit it to - for £5 it's worth a go. A few plectrum marks on the surface, and a some wear round the truss rod cutout. Postage £2 First class. UK only, payment by paypal "gift" please.
2. Here's my Yamaha RBX374 four string bass up for sale - it's looks as new - I've only had it a short time. It has active tone controls & you can get a great range of sounds. I’ll put it in the basic “slip” cover/gig bag that you can see in one of the photos. I'm in Rochdale just off exit 20 of the M62 and you're welcome to come and try it - or I can pack it securely in bubblewrap & heavy cardboard & send it - say 6 kilos packed weight – (bass is 4 kilos). (About £13/£14 by Interparcel on top of the price.)
3. OK - thanks for the info. Not seen one ofthose - I like the idea of a semi/hollo body bass - but feedback may be an issue. Thanks again.
4. Saw the band "Mini Mansion" on Later with Jools - they have an interesting synthpoppy sound - but hey - what is the thinline semi Fender(?) bass that the snappily dressed Zach Dawes was playing? I don't know that one.
5. I'm in an established rock covers pub band with a pretty full calendar to the end of the year - we live in the Rochdale/Milnrow area. We are all "mature" musicians - all experienced players, with our own equipment and transport. The lineup is guitar, bass, drums, vocals. Our lead singer has just given us notice, and we need to replace him as soon as possible. If you fancy the sound of this, (and have your own PA and transport), then please get in touch. Either message me via Basschat or give me a ring - my mobile is 0778 070 6991 Geoff
6. Alesis SR18 drum machine up for sale – it’s not being used since our duo stopped playing. It’s in perfect working order, and it is complete with the power supply, the manuals and the original packaging. They sell for £184 new, and I’m asking £100. It has a really good sound, and it’s pretty versatile for either studio or live use. This model is much better then the earlier SR16. Here’s the link to the Alesis site for full details:- http://www.alesis.com/sr18 I'm in Rochdale, near to junction 20 of the M62 - you can call to check it out before you buy it.
7. A pair of Peavey PA speakers – model ST12. These are in good nick, and have a single 12” speaker and a horn in each. Each cabinet is 8 ohms impedance and rated at 250 watts program , so 125 watts RMS. They measure 23” tall, 16” wide, 13” deep, trapezoid shape & carpet covered. They have a good sound, and have side handles & top hat fittings underneath if you want to mount them on poles. Looking for £65 for the pair. I’m in Rochdale, and you’re welcome to come & have a look & try them out, or I can deliver or meet up within a reasonable – say 10 mile - radius, or further by arrangement for some petrol money. Anyway, give me a shout & will see what can be arranged – they’re pretty large to pack and ship, but I suppose I could pack them in cardboard and wait in if you wanted to pay for and arrange for your own carrier to do a pick up - about 15 kilos each cabinet.
8. Here’s my Bose T1 Tonematch mixer/audio engine. The T1 has 3 XLR/1/4" Jack combi inputs for connection to microphone sources as well as almost any line level instrument, electric guitar or keyboard directly, plus there are fourth and fifth inputs with ¼” sockets for auxiliary level inputs. These are impressive pieces of kit, and I was using it for my guitar duo, but it’s been sitting in a cupboard for about 9 months now so it’s got to go. I was running two vocal mics, the bass guitar, & the drum machine into it as well as having “interval” music into the channel 4/5 auxilliary input. This unit is marketed with the Bose L1 sound systems, but I was using it with an ordinary power amp and PA speakers, it gives a really great sound. This is a really good on stage piece of kit – with it fitted to your mic stand you can adjust volume levels and the mix as you go, live on stage. They have loads and loads of effects and audio processing– you should see the Bose website for the full description. It has vocal processors, plus guitar effects, noise gates, reverb, compressors, digital delays and tone matching for guitars, basses and even different makes of microphone – it has massive capability. See this link to Bose site http://www.bose.com/...stems/index.jsp I’m including the Bose T1 Power supply and the Microphone stand mounting bracket-(which Bose sneakily sell as extras). There is also a Bose fabric/Velcro cover, the hard cover that fits on the face of the unit (and the L1 mounting bracket in the lid), a spare mains input lead, and a folder which has the full manual that I printed and put in a binder– that will save you loads of paper and printer ink! There is also the Bose multiway lead that connects the Tonematch to a Bose L1 series 2 or later which does both audio & power for the mixer. These units do not have a footswitch operation, which is a design flaw, so I had mine professionally fitted with a socket so you can switch the effects for channel 1 on and off with a footswitch – I used it for turning reverb on and off to talk between numbers. I’m including the footswitch and cable. See links below for the current prices – the whole thing would total over £500. I’m asking £325 including UK mainland tracked/signed for courier service. Current prices at Gear4music on links below. http://www.gear4musi...CFVTLtAod61gA7w http://www.gear4musi...nd-Bracket/114M http://www.gear4musi...wer-Supply/114L It’s about 5 years old, but in perfect working order. It has some minor scuff and wear marks on it, but it is in great condition. The only ding on it is on the upper large rotary knob that now has a notch in it where I caught it with something.
9. WITHDRAWN FROM SALE Here's my Yamaha RBX374 four string bass up for sale - it's looks as new - I've only had it a short time. It has active tone controls & you can get a great range of tones. I got it just before Christmas, but active basses aren’t my thing, I’ve discovered. I’ll put it in the basic “slip” cover/gig bag that you can see in one of the photos. Price now £125. I can pack it securely in bubblewrap & heavy cardboard & send it - say 6 kilos packed weight – (bass is 4 kilos). About £13/£14 by Interparcel on top of the price.
10. Pickguard for an American Standard Jazz bass – this is a genuine WD pickguard – the thick (2.5mm) solid black one. It is drilled for American guitars. There is some surface marking from plectrum/fingernails but in great condition – no splits or cracks. Link below to the ones at WD Guitar parts - http://www.wdmusic.c...ndard-109-c.asp I have checked at the Post Office and it’s £3.20 to send by first class post, so I’m asking £15 including postage (that’s for the UK only).
11. PRICE DROP NOW £10 INCLUDING UK POSTAGE Pickguard for an American Standard Jazz bass – this is a genuine Fender white/black/white pickguard. It is drilled for American guitars. There is some surface marking from plectrum/fingernails but in great condition – no splits or cracks. Link below to the ones at WD Guitar parts - http://www.wdmusic.c...ndard-109-c.asp I have checked at the Post Office and it’s £3.20 to send by first class post, so I’m asking[s] £15[/s] £10 including postage (that’s for the UK only). Pics below showing front and back of the ‘plate.
12. Bought & never used. A four string long scale set - the part number is 2802 if you want to check the spec on the Ernie Ball website. Currently £34.99 at Strings Direct. £20 posted to addresses in the UK.
13. Here's my American Standard Jazz bass up for sale. It has a lovely feel to it, and plays nicely - it gives some really great tones but it’s too much money tied up. The bass dates from 2003 (s/n starts with Z3). It has the S1 pickup switching circuit fitted as standard – you press the top of the neck pickup volume control and the pickups switch into series to give a “bigger” sound – more like a Precision bass - it’s a very useful feature. It comes with a Fender well padded gig bag, as well as the owners manual, registration form, wiring diagram explaining the S1 switching, neck tag, and a Fender strap – there is even a Fender duster! I think that the bass is in really great condition for its age, whilst it has a few dings and marks on it, it looks good, the frets are fine, the neck is true, and it plays really well. Also consider trades for American Standard Telecaster, or a decent six string semi acoustic/jazzer,
14. What a b****rd. Saw this on Facebook. Will certainly let you know if offered anything. As they say - my thoughts are with you.
15. Just obsessing with this now - bought a secondhand Fender Jazz so tweaking it and tweaking it to get it "right". It takes ages (to my mind) to get it spot on - but that is when you sit playing the bass at home in quiet surroundings. Equally when you are on stage then all this goes out of the window - when it's at volume in a band context then even a high action or a buzzy fretted bass sounds just fine. If you were recording it with individual feeds then analyzed it later, then maybe you would discern flaws (apart from all of my mistakes, that is!)..... But it has to be "just so" for each individual so that they feel happy to call the bass their own - and that is why I'll be fiddling around with the settings for a while yet.
16. I was looking up string tension on the forum - I want to have a more relaxed play on my Jazz bass, and came across these on this thread http://liutaiomottol...lae/tension.htm http://liutaiomottol.../perception.htm Very interesting links that you have posted there, Essential Tension. I want to get some strings with lower tension - but also now I see that the question of "compliant" strings comes into it as regards my/the players perception of how "easy" it is to play. So thinner strings = lower tension, but for compliance that is presumably down to the manufacturer & his materials/construction? I read (I think) that DR Sunbeamstrings are low tension, also Thomastic Infeld - is this so in anybody's experience - any particular model/type number please? Any advice gratefully received.
