  1. What doesn’t help Ashdown is the constant changing of designs using similar model designations ABM cabs as example Finding reviews just on the cabs is hard going !
  2. Ah that makes sense … It must be wired wrong then or the tip wiper isn’t making contact with the Jack That is a very likely diagnosis I reckon yet very odd it works with a stereo lead ? That must mean the tip is making contact so perhaps the inner contact isn’t connecting engaging the powered preamp This all assumes a good battery is fitted and connected!
  3. I’ve used my Ray34 at rehearsals with my Ampeg V4B and it’s a lovely combination for rock The Ray34 neck feels similar to my PBass and just has more grunt compared to the excellent PBass ( which I will still use ) I don’t see it’s any less a full fat EBMM Stingray and although circa £1000 it’s a very decent bass and I couldn’t see myself paying £2K + for the American EBMM The set up out of the box was spot on and only needed new strings which I’m using 45-100 pure nickel Fender Running the 3 band mostly flat sounds very nice and it allows small tweaks where you want a brighter tone ( punk ) or more mellow tone .. rock Ballard etc Superb bass
  4. The two versions of Jack sockets one above is mono ( what you should have ) and stereo the one you don’t want ! However a mono lead should work if someone connected to the end wiper contact but I suspect it’s wired to the first wiper stereo connection hence why your mono lead doesn’t work
  5. Somebody must of changed the Jack on the bass It should be possible to either re-solder the Jack to the correct mono connection or swop the Jack socket completely I would imagine the wrong Jack socket is fitted or wired incorrectly
  6. Perhaps the previous owner changed the Jack on the Ray 34 ? Its certainly not correct and all your pedals and amps etc will be only looking at a mono connection
  7. So … it sounds better with MV fully open and gain to adjust level At rehearsals last night I was running the MV full and gain around 12 o clock Sounded great 👍
  8. At home ( sensible volume ) I can run the gain at 3 o clock and master at 7 o clock and it’s a lovely tone Will try at rehearsals tonight running high input gain and less MV compared to MV open fully ( last weeks method ) Band said it was the best tone I’ve ever had however in addition to the V4 I was using my Stingray and playing with a pick !!! We were playing Led Zeppelin !!
  9. Curious how other V4B amp users run their gain and Master Volume ? Sone say master volume wide open and others set gain and adjust MV to suit requirements?
  10. Thank you
  11. Thanks … The LBT is a cleaner sounding Orange amp with a warmth to its tone. Suitable for most genres I think and a loud 500w head too
