  1. Ok fellow ABM600 owners how about we share your EQ settings Mine are as below
  2. I don’t think you will find a better amp for the money Loads of power and huge EQ adjustments plus valve drive compressor and Sub As a gigging amp it’s fantastic and records well in the studio too ( DI )
  3. Definitely the ABM600 and it really is that good as is the service and direct support from Ashdown in Essex HQ I had one ( secondhand) and sold it then couldn’t find an amp to beat it so purchased a new one late last year 100% a great amp that you learn more about how superb it is the longer you use it
  4. No worries!!!! Decided to stay with my ABM600!! GLWTS 😉
  5. Ok so I’ve ordered the Boss LMB3 pedal to try and see how that works to achieve the same result
  6. I do have both so I can compare the two .. thanks for the advice
  7. The Ashdown ABM600 onboard compressor isn’t great but it shows that a compressor with fast attack may work So which one to buy as a pedal ??? I did try the Ampeg Opto but they don’t have fast attack times so didn’t see the improved tone
  8. I have some of those 2mm picks too 👍
  9. Ok with the following EQ adjustments I’m getting close ( I think ) Using my ABM600 head Pull down 340hz completely to fatten sound. Back off main mids slightly ( adjust to be heard in band context ) Engage Dynamic Compressor and set at 3 o clock ( lots of compression) Pbass tone backed off slightly and use a JD Nylon 1.5mm pick That is starting to sound nearer to want I’m chasing and the Compressor seems to be playing a valuable part to removing the pick attack
  10. Then I discover this … grrrr
  11. Perhaps using a ton of compression would help ? There must be a reason that fingers bring out more of the fundamental for longer ( slow attack ) and hence we hear this full bass tone I can achieve the same bass EQ with a pick but it’s not as complete a sound if that makes sense, down to fast pick attack on the string I guess In drumming comparisons it’s like the felt pad on a bass drum pedal ( finger ) compared to the plastic ? bass pedal pad .. ( pick ) fast and bright bass tone Not trying to re- invent anything but curious to why so many pick players don’t miss that fullness of the tone yet can still be punchy and bright
  12. How does Nate in Foo Fighters get a full tone ( Ashdown user ) and pick player ? Mine is definitely not full, I can make it bassy but that’s different to full
  13. Smooth and deep full tone, yep that’s my finger tone. Impossible to get close using a pick as I’ve tried.
  14. I’ve tried many times to play bass using a pick for a preferred method on some rock songs but I think I’ve discovered a problem … My finger tone is so huge deep and full ( yet clear ) I don’t think I will ever be happy pick playing purely on the less full sound. Has anyone else discovered they have an unusually full deep finger tone sound ( maybe it’s playing a soft touch for speed, or my big old digits ) Baffled to why so many great bass players in rock use a pick and are happy with the less than full tone or do I have a unique tone perhaps ? Im happy to not pick but not being able to even get close to a full deep tone I think it’s fingers only for me Maybe up my speed technique too so the pick need is gone ?
  15. And don’t forget you get virtually a lifetime warranty with Ashdown U.K.
  16. Order one and play it for a week and return it if not better than EBS Find a store and ask for best price as they often discount PMT gave me a good price on my ABM210H cab just for asking I also asked for a new sealed in box model ie not a shop floor model
  17. I’ve been through some good and not so good amps and I must say the ABM600 is proving to be the very best. At first it takes time learning about the EQ and when to use or not use that famous Shape Button and you soon learn that this amp is a true gigging star. I think I would be hard pressed to improve on it. Im even liking the ABM cabs too
  18. Anyone using the tweed covered deluxe series guitar leads by Fender ? Ive ordered a couple as I hope they don’t twist and tangle as much on stage compared to Klotz Guitar cable leads Ive ordered a 4.5 and 5.5m long lead
  19. I had one of those in standard scale for the money they are nice basses I let mine go in favour of preferring a PBass kind of neck and passive too
  20. That’s interesting! Can I ask why ? I do love my ABM and it excels when used live so probably hard to beat
  21. I was tempted but decided it didn’t give me anything above my ABM600 My gas is with the CTM100 at present !!
  22. With a shortage of semiconductors in the world at present are we seeing Amps getting harder to come by ? Cars, TV’s, phones etc etc are all starting to be on a very long delivery times so I guess Amps and other musical devices ( FX ) will be hard to get this year
  23. What’s the price for the head delivered to Suffolk ?
  24. Check out the Fender Flats as well for a decent set. I tried Labella and Fender on both my PBass and the Fenders were pretty nice I only stopped using them as I missed the rougher string / finger contact from a plucking point of view
