  1. Yes I believe that is the same as the older BA series You need to add an extension cab to get full power output
  2. My issue is new Levy’s leather strap which is quite thick and the rubber washer strap locks being too thick !
  3. I think there is something beautiful in a good bass sound .. hard to improve on
  4. Ok all sorted now, just ordered a cheap TGI unit off Amazon Its purely leave in the case back up use
  5. I’ve experimented with pedals on bass ( mostly analogue ) with an itch to try a dedicated bass multi fx such as Zoom B6 etc but .., Every time I try FX with my band I always find I prefer my bass to sound like a bass and the FX do nothing much to add anything ( especially live ) For that reason I don’t even use an inline tuner and choose to go bass straight to amp and job done. Something very rewarding about the simplicity of that I would say in our set there may of been 6/8 songs I could of tried adding an effect but to my reckoning they just didn’t really need anything just a great bass tone in its natural form ( my opinion of course )
  6. Totally agree with this and has been my discovery over the years
  7. I’m looking for a new low cost DI box to carry in my bag in case of amp issues on stage Behringer do a few but I’m not sure which one is suitable for bass ? Looking to spend circa £40
  8. It’s also possible to flip them on their sides !
  9. My V4B and Di out to main PA
  10. I prefer my two ABM210H cabs for pure height gain and sound Plus easier to move about
  11. I’ve got the metallic silver Player and they are superb. I changed the bridge to a Fender Hi Mass as the grub screws would work loose on the stock bridge. Also put a black pickguard on it Lovely sounding bass Enjoy the new bass when it arrives
  12. Small gigs !! 30w might be ok on an acoustic set but seriously!! Its a studio / home amp surely and yes very pricey !
  13. Thanks Bill Is it a noticeable increase ? I know it’s all subjective but a rough idea would help ?
  14. A curious question regarding Tube amps ( heads ) I believe a tube amp gives out it’s output regardless of speaker load unlike A/B or Class D So is there any perceivable gain adding an extra matching cab in terms of volume ? In terms of power the tube amp is still the same wattage out but is the volume increased ? Example Ampeg V4B with SVT212AV with added SVT212AV cab ? If so that may become my main rig assuming I can get two cabs in the car !
  15. Another good tip … The input gain level is heavily influenced by the EQ settings, the Drive settings etc My Ray 34 still uses the non active input and I adjust the input level down a bit compared to my PBass The ABM600 sounds it’s best when played loud and has a weight to the sound that you don’t get with the RM series, a true gigging loving amp Roqsolid do a nice amp cover if looking Enjoy
  16. Great Amp / Rig They have a lot of EQ variation and play nicely with most styles At home the Shape OUT sounds lovely but can get a bit lost in a band mix unless you boost the main mid control I found Shape IN ( off ) was the best live sound and sounded great with my ABM210H ported cabs
  17. Might be tempted to sell my FS-4 as never use it and it’s like new
  18. Now you’re talking 👍
  19. BF SuperTwin isn’t wide enough so won’t be considering that option
  20. I think the Orange LBT is going to be sold to a pal of mine. This leaves me the V4B and ABM600 to use as and when
  21. Indeed, a dilemma choosing gear for the right job. The ABM600 sounds good through the SVT212AV cab but the two Ashdown cabs stacked are higher and easier to hear on stage. As you say both cabs are weighty but the SVT212AV is one lift only instead of carrying in two cabs. The best I guess would be two SVT212AV cabs ( both with the V4B ) or one with the ABM600
  22. I think next rehearsal is a better plan and hear how they fair The two Ashdown cabs sound very good with the ABM600 head so I would imagine the V4B would sound good too.
  23. Be interesting what a V4 sounds like with two Ashdown cabs
  24. Folk who know me on here are aware I have Ashdown ABM600 with two ABM210H compact cabs ( nice rig ) Ampeg V4 B plus SVT212AV ( great rig ) Orangel Little Bass Thing ( back up amp ) Ok so if I was looking to thin the herd and minimise my cab stock which rig would you change and why ? im happy with all of them but aware not all work with each other ie SVT212AV is 4ohm the two ABM210H are 8 ohms each Practicality of transported rig in large car is a consideration ( cant get all three cabs in as example ) Typical gigs pubs, clubs and outside events Not tried the V4B with the Ashdown cabs so not sure if that would sound better than the SVT212AV cab ? The V4B is amazing and definitely a keeper !
  25. They are taking about 4 weeks to make at the moment
