  1. I tried one ( the early Minimax ) and you’re right it sounds like air conditioning lol Sent it back ASAP Apart from that it’s ok Far better amps out there Ashdown, Orange etc etc ( I have both )
  2. I used mine at rehearsals in a large hall so I could play fairly loud For a small 210 cab ( about the size of a 12” guitar 112 cab ) they perform well but I think for gigging you will need both cabs ( I use two ) For practice in a medium or small room one cab does just fine ( we play 90’s rock to modern rock and a bit of R & B ) Previously I had the Ampeg PF115LF cab which was heavy but very deep sounding and felt it could take more of a pounding ! I decided like most that lighter is the way forward I would describe the sound as punchy and low to high mids focused ( I turn the horn off ) Probably not the cab for Reggae bass etc ) but everything else I think they are fine I play fingers ( PBass ) and Pick Annoying fact is the cab top handle means I have to put a rubber mat on the top so my RM800 doesn’t slip into the handle recess. I believe the RM500 has feet spaced further apart as does my Orange Little Bass Thing head. For the money they seem a good cab
  3. I’m sure you will love it My LBT is a great amp and sounds better and better every time I play it Funny thing is I play mostly rock but not a great lover of too much drive in my tone. Clean to a touch of grit is my thing but none of this overdriven Bass sound Enjoy the new amp 👍
  4. I’m liking my Orange Little Bass Thing
  5. Look at the Orange Little Bass Thing Simple but great sounding 500w head and very loud too
  6. I use a bar spill mat on mine
  7. I use the ABM210H Pro Neo cabs and one is loud enough with the Orange LBT for small / medium gigs with a loud band. I have two cabs both identical for larger gigs and allowing the full rating of the amp etc As Lozz has said they are a small 210 cab and single handed carry.
  8. The volume and compressor seem to work together and as mentioned they are notched in 1/2 steps ie vol 1, 1.5, 2, etc etc The compressor works as a very good compressor and immediately adds a little volume boost and it seems if you crank the compressor to max you add a tiny bit of grit to the signal. You can use it as an always on compressor or turn it on via a footswitch. You could I guess use it as a boost but I’m not sure it was designed as that. The notched volume can or could result in volume levels that are too high or too low as you can’t get less that 0.5 increase / decrease … however you can back off the compressor if the volume is too much or turn your bass volume down a little. Just purchased the Pedal Baby Bag which also fits the LBT as a carry gig bag .. thank you Orange for advising me of that 👍
  9. You could also daisy chain two 8 ohm cabs and connect into one of the amp connectors this would equal a 4ohm total speaker load
  10. From the manual
  11. Try the Orange Little Bass Thing you won’t be disappointed 👍
  12. I too can praise the RM800 .. I have the current model which has very little difference to the first version, headphone out mainly. I would say even the Original 500 head would be a good option too I never use the drive or subharmonic feature on the RM800 so I use it as a simple amp ( but great sounding ) with good EQ. You can’t go wrong with the Ashdown range as long as you get 500w upwards for playing gigs etc The RM800 is a very loud amp and can be quiet for home use too
  13. The Treble, mids and bass are cut and boost and the other EQ is mid frequency selection increase / decrease HZ No input gain control only -6db pad for active basses
  14. Current settings, PBass with a pick
  15. Yes ive noticed it’s like a boost compressor but it works very well
  16. Yep for sure this amp is loud !! Im typically running my compression at 12 o clock which in itself boosts the volume too !!
  17. Mine fit over with a bit of force I don’t think it’s necessary to unscrew the strap pin unless it’s huge !! I have both the Fender and BC versions and they all stretch over and hold the strap very well
  18. To be fair most demos on Andertons are some what wanting. They are most likely fine new amps but I’m happy with Ashdown and the new Orange LBT. Andertons generally showboat and don’t really show you true sound of the amp. They always tend to do that, someone plays and the other turns dials in a random fashion !!
  19. So not a mint condition product then ? Ive had some howlers from Andertons and that’s for new goods …
  20. Hmmmm I think I will stick with my Ashdown and Orange amps based on that demo !!
  21. Yep the smiley face EQ sounds great on its own but in a band context rarely works I think the natural voice of the amp and bass guitar and technique play a part to the finished EQ but mids are your friend especially low mids
  22. Spent a session playing the LBT sans pick and using fingers … Adding a smidgen extra mids and treble and backing off on the bass by one notch and this worked well Lovely warm sound and clean and full sounding. There is something special about this little 500w head, can’t quite put my finger on it but maybe it’s that Orange amp tone but clean and pleasant
  23. I have been in bands as a guitarist and found the bass player turning down so as not to be heard !! It makes no sense and although when the bass is present often you / audience don’t realise it but stop playing and the whole sound changes. Yep I’m more let’s be heard and felt bassist and found a pick achieves this better for how and what I play. All credit to finger players ( Steve Harris ) who clearly are heard and no pick required !
  24. At first this might seem an odd question but in the context of your bass tone and music genre where do you prefer your sound to sit in the mix Feel but not be heard Feel and heard but a more woolly tone Heard and distinct more like a bass and rhythm punchy sound ? In a rock context I find playing bass in a band with one guitarist needs a full punchy and distinct bass tone which fills the band sound and adds depth and drive Finger style or pick can achieve this as many great players do so. More recently I’ve gone over to using a pick as I find I actually hear the True Tone of the bass guitar more so than the softer attack and rounded finger style tone. Some songs in rock needs the bass sat in the background of the mix, present but hard to hear in the mix. Some songs need the bass upfront in the band sound to compliment the guitar and punch the song along … I know where I prefer to have my tone and that’s why I play rock and now mostly with a pick
