  1. Exactly the wear is perfection, worth every penny and tells such a story! Such a beauty of an instrument!
  2. I would be interested in the cab if you didn’t want it. Depends on price of course!
  3. That looks really good and should sound thunderous with the amp. If the board inside has flexed when the jack socket was loose the tracks might have become cracked so check it over when you next disassemble it to make sure it’s all ok. I used a jack to speakon cable for my 400 to my modern gk cab, had it made for me in the correct length. Wish my 400 had a speakon output as it’s more secure but it seems to be working well as is anyway.
  4. I think I could fix one if I got the chance, I do have a background in electronics and I’d love to have a go and bringing one back from the dead so let me know if you ever find one.
  5. Looks great! And you’re never getting your Mk3 one back, sorry, I love it too much!! On the plus side a few people have tried my amp out at gigs and they love it, so at least it’s being used to spread the GK joy around. I use mine with a modern GK CX210 and it sounds glorious. I used to wonder why you owned so many but I am constantly on the hunt for another GK, but I’d actually want a 700rb just to have a bit more power available - not been short of it to be honest but I’d like to try one and it’s always good to have spares!!
  6. Bit late to this, but to be honest the £180 Squire Sonic p bass I bought new recently was better quality than that. Very very poor. Name and shame if they don’t sort the issues out ASAP.
  7. The 400rb on its own as a head is amazing, I thought of taking the head out of a combo and making a new head and ditching the rest of the combo but I’d have to make an outer case. Also the GK sounds better the more you turn it up.
  8. Although I’m a relative newbie to bass just a few months after starting I had a thread on here where I asked about old heads into new cabs. If the old heads sound so good why not pair them with a modern lightweight cab? Yes a valve head will be heavy still but there’s loads of solid state heads that sound amazing, sell for peanuts and have power and heft for days. And even if a solid state head is a bit heavy they are relatively small compared to a big old combo so still quite easy to move around. I now have a GK 400rb head in a rack mount case (can carry in one hand) going into a modern GK 210 cab. It sounds flipping amazing, the wattage of 230w into my cab absolutely decimates 500w (and more) class D heads and even better I can take it apart and fix it myself if needed. Not that it will be likely as it’s 25/30 years old and works like new. Everyone who hears my setup says it sounds amazing. I genuinely can’t see why you’d want a new school head - unless you don’t have a car or have physical impairments that severely limit your lifting ability - when it can be this good with older stuff.
  9. I love blue basses so much I often wonder why anyone would want another colour. 😂😂
  10. My new highly modified Squire Sonic Precision Bass (see thread elsewhere). I love blue basses.
  11. It is through an Origin effects Cali 76 and a little Ampeg preamp too, I can get a dry sound in a week when I am back home.
  12. Err not sure if this will work. This is played with a pick through my little GK combo and it is picking up a bit more mechanical noise than you would hear in real life. NBD SQUIRE SONIC CUSTOM.m4a
  13. Yes it has Tone Rider The Duke pickups now.
  14. Bold to assume we have a spare 50p after buying all the pedals we have.
  15. Does it now sound like a bass at all?? 😂
  16. Well after all that fuss and bother I plugged it in and……. …….it sounds AMAZING. Like really really really good. The new stainless strings give it a lot of - well everything, and coupled with the “vintage” style pickup and electronics with a 1f capacitor to make it a bit darker (apparently) it absolutely kicks ass. Way better than my Fender (which had older strings on so not a fair comparison). It almost sounds like an active bass it just punches through in every frequency and connected up to my GK 400rb and gk 2x10 cab it just slams like crazy, proper low end growl and really clear top end too. Honestly I’m amazed by it!!
  17. It seems to work pretty well to me but I’ve never owned wireless headphones before.
  18. Thanks for mentioning these. Me and my wife (our singer) don’t like the KZ for different reasons - I find them too heavy and cumbersome and they simply won’t fit in my wife’s tiny ears. I just got some of the Bluetooth IE100s (which come with a BT module and a regular cord you can swap around) and they are light, comfortable and sound really clear and balanced. Not as much bass as some I’ve tried but I think with an entire mix in my ears they will be miles better. Plus they are really a lot smaller so my wife can use them and I can hardly feel them in my ears. The stuff cable at the start is really easy to mould round my ears too. I wanted to get some BT headphones for general music listening so these, although expensive, work really well for me but I could have just bought the wired versions and will do for my wife when I get paid again Very happy!!
  19. Thankfully I have the huge library of pedals that a friend has to test them out. I just go for what sounds best and what is good quality, if it’s cheap that’s a bonus!
  20. As a relative newbie I’m just finding my way. Struggling to get a consistent overdrive sound so I’m layering them up to suit what I play. Not all successful but I’m getting there. Sorta addicted to the Ampeg preamp……
  21. Whereas I don't like roasted maple necks or weird woods...each to their own! My latest bass has a maple neck and is almost white... 😄
  22. Friend of mine has a custom Status Black Beauty with gold plated hardware and every conceivable option. Its amazing. He also has loads of other vintage Fenders and Stingrays. He gigs mostly with a Yamaha 5 string which cost him £120 which just sounds amazing and is super reliable. Even with his slap technique which makes Flea look like Pino it still trucks on despite the abuse.
