  1. Both. I'm not fussy and enjoy live music of all types; rock, jazz, folk, originals, covers, old gits bands, beginners etc, etc. As for playing I enjoy open jams and would also be hoping to play covers in bars/pubs. I just want to keep playing, nothing too intense or serious.
  2. Yes Mick. I posed a similar question a while back about the best towns in England for music scenes. I'd like to retire somewhere I can continue to play as a happy amateur. Coincidentally I bumped into an old acquaintance last night who now lives in Nottingham and says it's brilliant for music.
  3. Is Nottingham a good place for live music venues?
  4. A few weeks back I decided to gig with just one NY121P cab and LM3. I was amazed at how good it sounded in a medium sized pub playing moderately loud rock covers. LM3 filters off, all EQ at noon just works most times for me. Didn't you find the TRV102P sounded as great with your LM3?
  5. I wonder whether the long sustain and note clarity of NT Thumbs is the result of the vibration energy remaining in the strings rather than being dissipated by the bass body resonating? My experience has been that my lighter weight basses seem to resonate louder acoustically than those made from denser hardwoods.
  6. I asked that weeks ago. Unfortunately at that time the speakers were of unknown origin.
  7. Is that Postman Pat and Roxette you're playing type bump.
  8. Oops! It's not my amp but 50 valve watts is no different to 50 solid state watts. 50 watts is not enough power to compete with two guitars and drums in a rock band. You'll see a lot of posts where 100 valve watts still doesn't cut it in a rock setting.
  9. 50 watts. No it won't.
  10. Do you still have the bridge fine tuning screws please? Cheers.
  11. Jack Bruce was only 5'6" and he played a Thumb for many years. Looks like he also angled the neck upwards to help reach.
  12. This is a lovely example.
  13. For me the characteristic Thumb growl, sustain and bell like note clarity come from neck through construction of the dense bubinga and wenge hardwoods. Other versions look beautiful too but will differ tonally from that original wood combination.
  14. Mine is a 1991 with a slim neck profile. I've never experienced any neck dive but do use a wide soft leather strap for comfort because although a small body it still weighs about 9.5lbs. I'm only 5'9" and have no insurmountable issues with the first fret position because I use a strap length that allows the neck to be angled more upwards bringing the headstock closer to my shoulder allowing my left elbow to bend comfortably. The shorter the strap the harder it is for me to play.
  15. Apologies; yes it's Fender Shaped Object.
  16. Yeah, but you're a wrongun' too Mick. (Meant in the nicest possible TE collector way of course!).
  17. A Warwick Thumb NT is like a Rickenbacker to me; if you want that unique sound you need to adjust your playing technique from the more common FSO position. If you're not able to do that then walk away. End of.
  18. You might sell this here if you add the information I've suggested previously.
  19. In that case it's best to add "SOLD" to the thread title.
  20. These are quite hard to find but do a darn close impression of the TE GP12 pre amp tone. The shape control is also adjustable rather than straight on or off which is a great feature IMO.
  21. Ah yes, my misinterpretation . Cheers.
