If he likes Jazzes i'd say its a Celinder...?
Already got one! . . . it's simply fantastic aswell. Don't worry folks, I'll share just as soon as I've sent the money for my grail, but I need someone to buy this extremely outrageous Sadowsky first. Treat yourself - it's xmas, you only live once!

It's an originals band, I was sent 5 tracks to learn. We have to tighten those up, then there's 3 more "in progress" so once those are worked out and tightened up that'll be enough for a 30 minute opening set somewhere in town
I think you mean "got one of those ghastly Windoze machines" Having said that, as an otherwise Happy Mac user, there does not seem to be anything similar. The only one is iDrum which manages to be both expensive and utterly useless.
I wasn't aware that it wasn't mac compatible. That's a bit of a deal breaker - I use it almost every day.

I like rumble a bum! You'd have to be careful what company you shared that in. Anyway, I've been asked to join - a sucessful night all around. We'll have to see how it goes.

Just about to set off for town for an audition for a new band. It's been about 18 months since I've done one so feeling slightly nervous. In Sadowsky I trust!

Crackly pots on 70s P-bass - quick fix or luthier job?
Toasted replied to Clarky's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's normal for pots that haven't been used a lot. You might be able to fix it by moving the pot fully through it's rotation backwards and forwards a few times - failing that you'll be able to clean it using pot cleaner sprayed into the access hole. . . . failing that you could spend £225 on some new ones ;-) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Precision-Tel...=item3a5550f8ad -
Got a computer? Download Groovebox. It's free and excellent.
Crikey-there's some right misreable, moaning music shop facists on here! You may not like the way that Nige+co plays, but then so what?I know for a fact and first hand observation (having known him for over 20 years) that Nige has inspired young bassists to pick up an instrument and learn to play. -how many of the purist "it's all a rattling noise and you can't use it in a track" whingers on this thread can honestly say that? Why get all pious and "holier than thou purist" about someone playing a bass in a style or manner you don't like?Who cares? Just walk on by-and leave the snide digs about a guy who's not only a top man (but also a great fingerstyle player) at home. Nige is well known for what he does-as are the likes of Lemmy and Chris Wolstenholme. If I attended a trade show no way would I stand there moaning that there "wasn't enough jazz" from Chris,or that "Lemmy didn't play any slap-I'm sick of that fuzz nonesense-it's just not real bass, man." No I wouldn't.I'd simply accept it as part of the rich tapesty of musical styles-but not to my taste.
I think that almost without exception people who have posted about Nigel have said that he's a thoroughly nice bloke and plays in a very unusual style. I really have no idea what point you're trying to make.

I don't know what it is - I do quite a bit of *cough*fashion*cough* internet shopping, and some places will never reply to an email but will treat you as a long lost friend on the phone,
Sad but true fact about the UK retail sector is that I've emailed several dealers in the UK and in the US regarding their respective '64s, and whilst most of the US dealers have got back to me not one of the UK dealers has. Gotta wonder if this is simpy because when you ask questions about provenance and originality, they can't answer them? C
Chris, I'd always advise picking up the phone for best result. Cheerss Joe.

Nice idea. We run things like this at Haunting Mids quite frequently and they always work well.

You have to be straight. There's no way I would have agreed to record vids of me playing. I'm in a similar situation 'aww just come round to my house mate and we'll have a jam' - to which I said no thanks, pick 5 songs, send me mp3s and I'll learn them and come to your next band practice. Remember you're auditioning them as much as they're auditioning you. Don't get messed around - they're noT doing you a favour letting you be in their band. One positive note: glad to see you've got the bullshit detector well and truly tuned in - one decent band from 20 enquiries seems about right!!

Another +1 for OBBM here.

Bass Day UK 2009 (Royal Northern College of Music - Nov 22)
Toasted replied to Gary's topic in General Discussion
Loz - just put on a tune that really inspires you (It's YYZ for me, but I understand that's fair personal!) and I'm sure you'll be back into playing in no time. The slap-fest really can take it out of you - which is one of the reasons I loved the ACG weekend - almost no slap at all. -
The Calling - Whereever you will go. "Learned" is an awfully grand title for that.
