5. Come out come out wherever you are.....
6. Good grief, why didn't I think of that, job done. Early Ibanez had BEAD, do it.
7. I have given this some serious thought as I do have the 5. But I cannot do it. Try the Octave trick before you commit, Just Sayin'
8. I had the five, let it go, shouldn't have really. A joy to play and set up in a sight line that makes easy to play...good luck with the sale type bump.
9. I bought my Thumb NT 4 in 1988 for £1,200,00 from Ross in R &B Music Aberdeen, still have it, just twinned it with an '89 NT Fretless not much difference in the price 23 years later. I part chopped my Ovation Magnum 2 for the Thumb, I found out later, many years later only 4 or 5 ever came into the UK. I wish I had my EBO, the Red Fender Jazz matching Headstock from '66 or the Telecaster (Bass) from '78 or my '66 Precision or the first Stingray..... My EBO cost £112.00 from Rushworth and Drapers White chapel Liverpool in '65 only to be changed out for the Red Jazz about 6 months later at £120.00. When I bought the Musicman I worked for Rumbelows in Wallasey, Merseyside, I got it trade. As a rule of thumb a retailer would never give you anymore than what an instrument cost to stock new, which at the time was about half retail. I don't think anything has changed, Warwick have ramped up the RRP so the Retailer can take a PX in and still make a profit, thats the way of it. If you pay top whack one day and go back the next it's worth 50% now I know that's maybe an gross exaggeration, but you try it! When you walk out of a retailers you take an immediate hit, it's the profit element. And don't talk to me about cars.
10. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/169846-warwick-triumph-eub-41-4-string-in-honey-violin-bow/ Not so much a slap artist as a slap head artist, and I bet the reason this Warwick Classic has not sold. I saw Marky years ago and was impressed with the overall slappiness but can't get on with the top end Zing. Listen to Peg, Steely Dan, thats discrete slap. James Brown's bass player never slapped, he would have been slapped, fined and sacked. Stick with the music. You can tell I'm overseas again bored and with time to kill.
11. Just stumbled across this brilliant topic: I have been playing and singing in bands since 1963, I was never aware in the early days of having Stage Fright. There was always too much going on, anyway the friendly Pill Man was always there to sell you a Dexedrine for a tanner. As time moved on in the last 15 years or so I became afflicted with a dried up throat, for seemingly no reason, it was nerves of course. I also found that alcohol exacerbated the problem, closed my throat up even more, especially real ales, coke, drinks with ice, drinks without ice, lager, in fact anything. I always had the usual number two before I left the house and a couple of pee's. but still have to be very careful of what I drink in case it causes me to dry up. I will say I am a slapdash bass player, it'll be alright on the night type thing and punters usually don't know or care, but when that musician face comes into the gig...... I can rehearse Wednesday before a gig from cold no grief, gig night I have to be careful to eliminate what I consider to effect me, I drink room temperature water only, I don't get enthusiastic beyond my capabilities, I am a Stage Fright Sufferer..... JUST REMEMBER : You are always the best Bass Player on the stage ...
12.
Pil I thought were the best thing on the show. I was really impressed with the sounds that guy got from that Baglama (ta Pete, wondered what it was!) I`m not really a Muse fan but they were ok. They could do with using some more effects though But the Beach Boys? I know they may have been good in the past but it was like watching your grandad doing a song at a family get together when he is past it and no one has the decency to tell him. And how many people were there on stage anyway? And Gollum on vocals and guitar?
I was in a "Cabaret Band" when punk hit, suits, harmonies all the flash (then), our guitarist, bless 'im, wanted to go Punk. Well he was told was'nt he. I personally did not connect, but, after watching Johnny over years I must say he has something, it not pleasing on the ears, but its a truthfull sound. When I started out in Liverpool there were a number of harmony bands the Escorts probably the best (Everlery's) but there was also a four piece (White Fenders) doing incredible Beach Boys type Harmonies, the name escapes me as do most things these days. Ah, just remembered the name, The Easybeats. Anyway I was amused that the Beach Boys needed 15 guys to replicate what a four did way back then and as much as i admire his "Legendary" Genius you really don't need a stroke/drug abuse victim on stage do you. Just say in'. Muse, he uses Status....er that's it.
13. Still the same price? 1,300Euro's? Delivered? Got a picture of the serial number on the headstock? A close up?
14. I considered commissioning one of these but opted for a fretless Progress 3 jobby and then bought a fretted version. This is still on my acquisition list but yours is lined, fabulous bass from a well respected stable of basses. Shame you have to let it go. If I wasn't such a snob .... Good luck, good price lovely bass......ahhhh, it must be old age.
15. What is the colour?
16. Typical, I searched for over a year for Fretless NT, bought one 2 months ago then this turns up..... Good luck with the sale, good price and rare.....
