1. Sold Alex a precision body, and I couldn't have wished for a smoother transaction!
2. Traded a bass with Jim and he's a top notch guy!
3. Thanks for the interest guys, but I think this is traded!
4.
Can you give more info on the 11 way tone controls. What are the 11 options ? Thanks.
They basically take the place of the tone pots - each one has 10 different value caps connected to ground, and a bypass path. So, you start at the bypass and gradually work into larger value caps, rolling off more treble. So they work exactly like tone pots, but I much prefer the sound - in the lowest setting the sound is actually usable as it has more low mids and doesn't sound like mush!
5.
This is a crazy price ... Around £1600 when new. Can you post ?
Aye, I just want a four string I can play jazz on asap. My precision just doesn't float my boat for jazz. Posting might be an issue - it can't really be collected from my work. However, I'd be more than happy to meet with people half way, etc.
6. Right, I've had another play on this tonight and decided that the 6 string thing definitely isn't for me. So, I've lowered the price and am open to offers and trades, as I'd like to get another 4 string as soon as I can! At the moment the only other bass I have is a precision, so I'm definitely after something with a bridge pickup!
7. Sorry mate! Although I'm not a big stingray fan either!
8. Unfortunately not, sold the preamp on as I had no use for it.
9. Would this float your boat at all? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188721-clover-xpression-156-feeler-ftfs/
10. These are fantastic P basses - love the neck on mine.
11.
Oh my old bass. It's so easy to play with that thin neck.
Indeed it is, it's just wasted on me!
12. Just putting this out on a feeler at the moment to see what's about. I'm kind of starting to think that I should simply focus on 4 string; I don't have as much time to play nowadays, so can't really give this the dedication it needs. With that said, it's a very easy bass to play - the first 6 string I've had and I haven't found the neck too much of a problem to get around, as it's very slinky front to back! Electronics-wise, it's a little different... It did have a delano preamp in, but I simply do not get on with active electronics. I had this removed and replaced with what is essentially a les paul wiring scheme, but the tone controls are 11 way varitone-type controls. They each have 10 different value caps and a bypass, and retain mid better than a standard tone control, making for some very nice tones! There is also a mini switch which coil taps the pickups, this selects: both pickups as single coils, neck as a single and bridge as a humbucker, or both as humbuckers. However, as they're delano quad coil humbuckers, even when they're running as single coils they are humcancelling; they act as a split coil, like a precision. It's recently been setup, is fitted with R Cocco strings and has a semi-hard (ooh matron) case. Price-wise, I'd be looking at £500 ono collected. I'd much rather trade for something with four strings, preferably passive and jazz shaped, but would take anything into consideration. 13. No idea of the brand, but I imagine that the wood is basswood as it is light and seems a little 'soft' (if that's the right term!)
14. Got this about a month ago from psychoandy for a project which hasn't gone ahead. So, looking to get what I paid for it, which was £30 delivered (in the UK). It's solid wood, not ply. Payment by bank transfer or paypal gift.
15.
That is the only bass I've ever liked with white pickup covers.
Cheers man! They're dimarzios, so they're pretty hot. I don't like the sound of them with rounds - to me the sound is a bit 'clangy', but with flats they're gorgeous!
16. According to the DiMarzio website, it's 6.82k (sorry, my multimeter is at work). However, its a ceramic pup so has quite a lot of output. I'd say that it's really quite warm sounding - thicker than a normal jazz pup. Not really interested in trades, but may be tempted... what did you have in mind?
17. My bitsa precision, as it stands at the moment. Growl is the word!
18. Just received a body from Andy and couldn't be happier. Well recommended!
19. Excellent condition, only about 2 months old. Split coil, ceramic, powerful jazz bass bridge pup. Selling as I went down the PJ route, but it's really not for me. This is an ideal pickup to use with a P as it's very hot, so it doesn't get lost in the mix. It's also humcancelling and has movable pole pieces. Looking for £35 delivered in the UK. Paypal gift or bank transfer.
20. Do you happen to know an approximate weight for the body?
21. Roughly how much shaping would this pocket need to fit a fender neck? Do you have any measurements?
