1. On the Jen and the Gents recordings, what cab were you using? Really gorgeous tone!
2. I can't remember the exact years, but I think they were mid to late sixties.
3. hmmm...
4.
Come on. I dare you. After all it's essentially a 4-string bass. What are you afraid of?
Maybe its the colour.
5.
The Dark Lord has spoken. Nothing else needs to be said.
Isn't it lovely coming online to hear the opinions of others?
6.
I'm finding this whole thread a little confusing, think I need a lie down
It'll be all the different fonts.
7.
My Fender Mustang bass short scale which is older than 1977 has through body stringing, so did the fiesta red precision I bought in 1971 second hand now long gone, had it also.
The original Mustang basses did have string-through. What sort of P bass was it?...
8. I'm not usually a fan of single cuts, but that I really quite like. As for 'Bass Mandolins', has He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named ever heard of a little band called Pearl Jam?
9. On eBay bump. I'll still take lower offers on here though.
10. Haha, unfortunately I think Christmas may be looming!
11. Cheers man! I think if it doesn't sell, I might ask someone to build a sleeve for the amp... I do love the tone - so thick sounding!
12. Will let this go for £300 this weekend! Otherwise I think I have other plans...
13.
Wow, amazing price.
Cheers man, and thanks for the vid!
14. Ashdown 1x15 combo, featuring the highly regarded Spyder amp. This is also one of the first released, and is built in the UK. Beautiful sounding hybrid combo, which really nails the valve feel, I think it sounds a hell of a lot like a fliptop. I've replaced the preamp valves with Electro Harmonix 12AX7s. Moving it on as it's a little heavy for me (due to a shoulder injury), and as I also have an extension cab I want to move to a single speaker setup (I never seem to get to use the two together, it's really loud on it's own). So, I'm looking for £300 ono collected, or trades with amp heads. I'm based near Leicester, and work in Newark during the week. I don't mind delivering for petrol money, or meeting halfway (within reason). There's some really good demonstrations of the Spyder on youtube courtesy of Ashdown and our very own walbassist... 15. The kappa 15 is a fantastic speaker - really powerful, sensitive and has a low mid that seems to make basses growl! It doesn't have a lot of top end, so isn't really suited to plinky-plonky stuff, but it is quite surprising how high it does go. I really would quite like a couple of 8 ohm kappas for my ashdown rig. Orange use the kappa 15 in their cab, and I think it's one of the nicest sounding cabs money can buy.
16. Where did you buy it from?
17. Traded my VT bass pedal for Discreet's markbass DI and it couldn't have gone smoother, even if it was covered in vaseline.
18. Got this in a trade a couple of months back, but it's not really doing it for me. It's the first version, has a few little scuffs but works fine and is in the original tin. Trade-wise I'm looking for a decent DI / preamp pedal - open to all offers except anything sansamp as I've been there and done that... Sales-wise it'd be £95 delivered in the UK, PayPal gift or bank transfer.
19. Any interest in a Sansamp VT bass?
20. Awesome!
