  1. Great track, great bass line, great performer.
  2. Tedeschi Trucks for a slightly more sophisticated take on the genre:
  3. As much as it sounds hard to believe nowadays, Capital Radio. Nicky Horn with Your Mother Wouldn't Like it, Alexis Korner, Adrian Love, Roger Scott, Dave Cash - all big music lovers who would champion their favourite artists.
  4. Long before any of the above mentioned was Marie Lloyd, with lyrics such as 'she sits among the cabbages and peas'
  5. Sorry! Wouldn't life be dull if we all liked the same stuff?
  6. Down there with Disturbed Sound of Silence. I'm sure Lionel is way too nice to tell the truth!
  7. How come? Maybe because it is so appalling nobody else thought for a moment that it beats the original?
  8. BIG vocal! Very different to a lot of reggae vocal styles, and I was amazed when it was announced as Ken Boothe.
  9. Ken Boothe sounding VERY different from his Everything I Own hit - what a vocal!!
  10. I'd like to think that Karen Carpenter would have achieved the same status as Dolly Parton and Abba, with people realising how good she really was. Hendrix would be dealing with the problem of wild parakeets taking over London's parkland.
  11. Great to see this outfit getting some good support from BBC6 Music. Great players and great modern fusion of styles. Cracking drummer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0016fvw
  12. Heard Dennis Brown Black Rose yesterday. Nice use of Here I Come track, but which came first?
  13. Mind you, keeping Vienna off the number one spot was pretty funny!
  14. Was that humour?!
  15. Squeeze would be my favourite example of humour in music. I also do like a lot of comedy music - Peter Sellers 'Balham', Flanders and Swann, Trimmer and Jenkins, and I don't think the profanity filter will allow me to post the wonderful Dilly Keane.
  16. Thanks for the heads up, will watch later. Really enjoyed a series a couple of years back where Rhod Gilbert went on the hunt for 'unknown' bands.
  17. Just goes to show, like so many things, charisma means different things to different people. I'm not a fan, but sold hundreds of his albums to his huge, loyal fan base who are completely devoted to him. To them he must have charisma by the bucketful.
  18. Webby is a good mate of mine (helped him set this jam up when it started in all places in Saxmundham). Useful for getting to know the scene, but a bit of a hike from Huntingdon.
  19. Enjoying this (getting played on 6Music). Pachyman - young guy making really old sounding dub.
  20. The Gio at the cheapest end of the range is PJ.
  21. This (at least the bit about keeping rest of body warm). I was warned by consultant not to warm hands quickly (hand warmers/hot tap) as that can lead to pain when blood starts flowing again. I have used gloves with silver in them to keep hands warm before a gig. More recently, my overall circulation has improved courtesy of two dog walks a day, and the Raynaud's has been much better.
  22. Ah, that's the name, but it was Andi, his daughter I was thinking of. Thanks.
  23. Forgotten her name, but there's a sax player in Ipswich who will also let rip on a recorder. @Bilbo will hopefully know who I'm thinking of?
  24. Is this a classic case of what you hear onstage doesn't match what the audience hears?
